American Horror Story is an anthology series created by Ryan Murphy. Each season is a self-contained storyline an entry in an increasingly scattershot and arbitrary canon, a pastiche of forms and genres found in western-style horror.

American Horror Story: Cult is about clowns and bees and the 2016 US presidential election. This is the first year in which Ryan Murphy has set up an Instagram account, which he has used to tantalize us with bloodstained pretty boys and visits from old friends and dank memes. You can find more formal, structured promos for the season on the tie-in site every week until the show premieres.

Celebrities who have been roped into this (*for the first time):
Evan Peters
Sarah Paulson
Adina Porter
Cheyenne Jackson
Frances Conroy
Mare Winningham
Billie Lourd*
Billy Eichner*
Alison Pill*
Colton Haynes*
Leslie Grossman*
Lena Dunham*

American Horror Story: BEES will premiere on September 5. As usual, the title of the show has changed so be sure to remake your season passes.

Previous on American Horror Story:

Season 6: Roanoke

Season 5: Hotel

Season 4: Freak Show

Season 3: Coven

Season 2: Asylum

Season 1: Murderhouse

I was wondering what the gif for murder house was gonna be and was exactly what I was hoping for.

You should put the Oprah bee gif in the op too.

There is nothing remaining about this series that invokes the spirit of Season 2 which caused me to fall so in love with this show, and yet I've still continued to watch every episode of every season because I'm a loving sucker

We all come back my friend. We all come back.

So is the lust season just gonna be gay porn? I would have sworn Hotel would have been the lust season.

It was really uncomfortable, in a way AHS hasn't done me in a while. I will always love Roanoke for the exact recreation of the format of My Haunted House. Its so shlocky AMS didn't even seem like a parody.

Also, because I'm even further south than the Roanoke area and all the old tired southern jokes in it were just :allears:

"This is the south, like you can get a salad around here :haw::haw::haw:"

The most unforgivable part of Roanoke is how they continually lauded their fictional show (to the point of having people's lives and psyches ruined by just how awesome the show was), when it actually looked like some bobo poo poo that even A&E wouldn't run.

I can't remember the name, but there's a ghost show that has pretty actors during the "interviews", and another set of pretty actors for the reenactment. The first half of Roanoke is that show so hard.

That reminds me. Unfortunately, Kathy Bates won't be in this season due to a scheduling conflict with Bates's new Netflix show.

I'm a little skeptical about this season. The previews suggest that Murphy is really hung up on Twisty from Freak Show. I never really liked Twisty as a concept or a character, except in his ability to propel Dandy toward insanity. It might be a personal thing, but I have difficulty taking the clown get-up seriously.

Hopefully, I'm wrong and we get another Asylum.

Nooooooo. gently caress I didnt know she wasnt in this season. Goddamit now who will we get our indecipherable accents from!? I was honest to god thinking she'd be Trump.

This would be like telling me Emma Roberts is back.

Denis O'Hare is going to be back this season at least, right?

I've tried googling who all is in the cast this season, but most of the articles that popped up were like 'Lena Dunham to appear!' I know the OP has a list, but I'm curious how many others are returning; since that list also seems to be low on 'Ryan Murphy's stable of hunky brunettes'.

He's saving them for the lust season. Brunette himbos as far as the eye can see.

I just finished watching Roanoke. I'm not even sure how I didn't know that season come out.

In a way it's the best and most coherent story. The framing device has some interesting things with it and some really dumb ones. Things like the Chen ghosts are hilariously bad and out of place.

I kind of liked it because of the implication that the various cultures do indeed have their own paranormal poo poo in the AHS universe.

If you want to take a personal hand in the show not sucking, here's your big chance to get onscreen and redeem it with your magnetic presence and then get murdered offscreen by clowns probably.

I would have absolutely nothing to talk to Evan Peters about :(

Freak Show was an exercise in how far a show could crawl up its own rear end.

I'm a little over halfway done with my Hotel rewatch. I'd forgotten all the confusing bullshit with Wren and what an irredeemable character Alex is. But it did give me my favorite line of the entire series:

"I couldn't pick my butthole out of a line up"

Hell yeah. I waited all season for karma to bite Alex in the rear end.

Yeah she definitely had a nice Bawbwawa Waltews impression going. Evan Peters had one too but it was a lot more subtle

Of course it could be one of those situations where, like you, I'm just used to hearing the stereotypical impression. After living in the south for most my life, I can easily spot a real southern accent vs. a fake one. Very few people get it right. That being said, I've absolutely met some real life people who sounded exactly like Cricket

I think he's actually southern. I know he sounded exactly the same on Will & Grace years ago. It's funny certain parts of the south, yeah you can tell when someone's faking an accent, but some regions really do have the kind of accent he has. I call his the 'southern belle'

Yeah, I agree. The first few episodes and the set-up tend to be good. The payoffs tend to be bad.

I will say though, Roanoke had a payoff. Funnily enough I think Freak Show had a decent one.

You know, I miss the cool cast trailers they used to do. Like this one. I know they didn't do one for Roanoke and they sort of did one for Coven, showcasing Lange, Bates, and Bassett, but they were really cool. Hotel, Asylum, and Freak Show specifically.

So Evan is pulling a Paulson this season. Ok, cool. I think he can act well enough for it to turn out ok.
