sure but white supremacy movements and religious fundamentalism such as wahhabism have been around for centuries so why is it all kicking off now? is it perhaps the failed global economy is giving more impetus to these groups and causing their membership to grow?

The global economy hasn't failed at all. That's bullshit, right off. The Internet is living proof of that.

What's happening is consolidation and automation: Less people are doing more work, and automation is replacing everyday blue-collar jobs. Instead of solving this with guarenteed income or social programs, the Right has chosen to turn it into a rallying cry for racism and xenophobia.

The Right is creating more of the Right, by gutting social protections and then stirring up the crowd to anger by blaming Immigrants and Minorities, while funneling money into the pockets of the wealthy.

you make some very good points and tbh i think we're talking about the same thing only you say "right" and the things you attribute to it makes me think "neoliberalism". but it's not just the right, but centrists and parts of the left are in on it to.

while neoliberalism has caused our economy to crash, id argue that the internet itself and other information technologies is what is actually destroying capitalism.

i agree that radical reform needs to happen to address these issues

Clinton was a Neoliberal, but even she recognized that we were not saving Coal Jobs, but needed to provide job training for coal employees so they could move onto new jobs. That's kind of the difference between Neoliberals and the Right: Neoliberals are war hawks like the Right, but tend to actually provide solutions for issues like job market shifts, whereas the Right just says "Its all those Illegals and Globalism taking your jobs, get mad!" without providing an out for their constituents AND cutting the social programs that are helping them

All coal country people heard was "OMG She hates coal!" rather than "Oh, yeah, coal is dying and we need to find a way out before our communities disappear". There's no saving the horse and buggy industry. The GOP loves appealing to Tradition and Community while ignoring that there is no reality in saving doomed industries that are being outmoded and replaced by gas and green energy.

TT specifically said "conservatives." If you equate "conservative" with "Nazi," then you're really off the deep end.

Like Ferremit said, there's a whole lot of other issues than a micro-percentage of actual Nazi/White Supremecists rearing their ugly heads.

Maybe they should denounce them a little louder then? In the end, at least in the US, it doesn't matter: The GOP spent 8+ years cultivating white supremacist groups and mixing them in with groups like the Tea Party and others, they helped create the god damned mess and did NOTHING to stop it from perpetuating at their own National Convention, while giving voices to people like Bannon, Miller, Spencer, and Gorka.

So, yes, there is a problem with Conservatives as well. Its not like the KKK is voting Democrat these days, and there's good reason why. As long as the GOP continues to support Trump and his advisers with their oh so obvious white supremacist ties, it remains a Conservative problem.

Now, that's not to say all conservatives are white supremacists. I have no doubt, most are not. But much like the people who claimed ignorance of Trumps associations and voted for him, you don't get to split hairs.
