Someone(Dixie) had pissed them both off so badly they refused to do business with them ever again. I believe there were also pay disputes.

He was a big deal during the latter days of MMA's unregulated era but due to his fractious relationship with Dana White and poor personal decisions he never really got a mainstream media foothold. Plus he's really really fuckin stupid. Here's peak tito: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnrI1l6qvO4

Maxwell Lord posted:That abject silence is actually impressive. Was/is Ortiz just not well known? The name is familiar but I can't be sure I didn't just read it in here a lot. He was an absolutely huge MMA star who was on a very highly rated season of the Ultimate Fighter, did giant PPVs with Liddell and Shamrock and one of the biggest ratings in MMA history for his third fight with Shamrock. He was over the hill for that angle but he was still enough of a nostalgia draw that Bellator did a couple million viewer shows with him (and a couple disappointing numbers) but TNA is TNA and got him pulled from the shows within weeks.

Yeah everyone knew Tito, even at that point. The problem was (stop me if you've heard this before) the angle made basically no sense and nothing was followed up on

People wanted Tito to go into professional wrestling like, in the early 2000's. So of course TNA would bring him in 15 years later than when that would have been a big deal.
