RealFoxy posted:My favorite dumb TNA moment might be when they had an ECW invasion called EV 2.0 and never taught the fans it was supposed to be chanted "E V DUB" in lieu of the ECW chants they deliberately didn't tell the crowd that, because they were afraid that would open them up to lawsuits over the ECW name. the crowd was just sort of supposed to figure it out on their own, in which case they'd be fine to air it because the trademark infringement wasn't the company's fault, it was just those wacky fans

Grem posted:So who wants to run down what will likely happen to my friend on Bound for Glory. Is that their big show of the year? The Wrestlemania you guys are talking about? Can't imagine there's much room for some no name dude to get in an actual match, even as a jobber. It is their big show of the year, in theory, but they're probably going to pull in a couple thousand at best so it's not a particularly big show. On the other hand, TNA stuff always has to fit with a bunch of pretaped poo poo from months ago, so unless your friend has also been on-set fighting EC3 and forgot to mention it he'll probably just be a local jobber guy. In a normal promotion I'd say he'd be a dark match guy but TNA doesn't really have those anymore, since they need to record everything possible to cut down on costs. So your buddy will at least get to be on TV, but he almost certainly won't have a name or intro. Unless they wanna sign him and let him carry the promotion into the future I guess

officially starcade 2000 got about 7k in attendance, and is still considered a legendary flop tna expects to sell 500 tickets please note that this is historically bad even for TNA, as last year's BFG sold twice that. it's on track to be the lowest attended tna ppv of all time

MassRafTer posted:Last year's BFG didn't sell any tickets. I always gently caress up and think attendance means ticket sales but you're right, TNA just gives them away every time so it's all bullshit It'll definitely have fewer people there, though.

Eli Wiggum posted:I'll just quote myself from earlier: It's like a tech company. The company is losing money NOW, but that just means it's cheaper to buy in and be on the ground floor. They all remember how the wwe went from losing millions to a billion dollar corporation overnight. Also, Dixie really wanted to be famous and she was willing to burn her father's company to accomplish this. I don't think she ever cared if it made any money as long as she got to be a star and hang out with Hulk Hogan

Mel Mudkiper posted:Wait twitch has you pay for content? You can do that for sure, but if you want money for your videos, like if you want to charge for a subscription or get ad revenue, you have to do a profit sharing thing. Twitch can decide at any time that your product doesn't fit their criteria for monetization and drop you without recourse.

But to match income I bet they need like, to get more viewers than Pop. How much more? Not sure, but still... Plus, the buyers picked them up so they could get stuff to put on the Fight Network, right? Wouldn't that be undermined if it's freely available?
