Random question: Is it known whether or not the Angels have injury insurance on Pujols' contract? And given that they've got four more years on his deal, is there any possibility they start subtly pressuring him to retire?

Dodgers are the first team since 1912 to win 42 games in a 49 game stretch. At worst they'll tie their 42-8 run from 2013 and if they win tomorrow they'll obviously beat it. I can't believe they've done this twice in my life, let alone twice in 5 years :stare:

While being a paltry 2nd for intentional walks, 9th for HR, 12th for RBI, 12th for total bases, 12th for doubles and 40th for hits. Dude's had a career.

12th for total bases

Every time someone mentions total bases I get reminded of Hank Aaron's record and how no one is even close and maybe no one ever will be.

Rickey Henderson's stolen base record might be the only thing that approaches it?

e: Well Cy Young's wins obviously, along with a bunch of other early pitching stuff. But for relatively modern things.

Intentional Walks, Single Season and Career

From 2001 to 2007, Albert Pujols was IBB'd 120 times

From Apr 6 to Oct 1, 2004, Barry Bonds was IBB'd 120 times

I mean yeah it's beyond current imagination that the IBB thing will ever be matched. But for something a player actually does rather than is gifted to him by the other team I like Rickey and Hank's records more.

I'm not intending to demean Barry at all of course.

I think I read that he injured his shoulder in high school or college and that it healed in a way that affected his throwing motion. It's why he's started trying to sling the ball in, but ehhh, it doesn't work.
