Sonny Gray is wearing 55, and he's starting Thursday. Yanks going to a six man rotation since Severino threw a ton of pitches last night

so the Dodgers are gonna be 79-32 after they finish off the Mets, which made start thinking about their chance to set the win record. The current mark is 116, so they need to go 38-13 the rest of the way to get to 117. that's a winning percentage of .745, which is actually lower than their current win percentage over the last 51 (.862). As of now, they're on pace for 115 wins. if they went 26-25 the rest of the season they'd still win 105 games, which is absurd!

this Dodgers team really might be the best we've ever seen in our lives

e: outside of matchups against Colorado, Arizona, and Washington, every team they'll face is under .500 by a decent margin too

Huh, I just checked the standings for the first time in a while and wow I had no idea the Giants were the worst team in baseball. Also didn't know that the NL Central was bunched together like that

This was actually a pretty good read, from MLBTR of all places: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/08/carlton-fisk-sox-changed-thanks-to-postal-snafu.html

Judge, Hicks, and Sanchez all hit their 40th career homers tonight. the Yanks needed each one because they had a tough time against Rafael Montero of all people

i didn't really expect the Yanks to compete for much this year so it's good to see them still in play for the division, only 3.5 back now

Judge will be fine :colbert:

although I do feel silly for suggesting that his high BABIP would be sustainable because he hit the ball super hard. I think he will have a good September that clinches an MVP for him

wow, I don't even think Seager's .309/.398/.519 and 139 OPS+ would crack the top 10 in the NL MVP voting :stare:

This is a really cool article about the use of exit velocity to make conclusions about pitch selection

Contract the Mets, or oust the Wilpons. This is beyond ridiculous at this point
