the tube version, rev 2, was kinda a mess. it was a better desk solution with more retention but it completely ruined the quick release benefit by changing the angle of release. i have both with the adapter as backups for my system and both are awkward with the conversion dongle

i prefer revision 2 barrel style but if the revision 1 plug style was somehow more prone to splitting good lord thats bad

i def. preferred the barrels retention to the later plug style magsafe and i might even say i preferred the directionality of the barrel but it was so fragile even if you babied it

just the stress of leaving it plugged in without supporting the cable was enough to cause it to split
