I seem to remember an ask/tell thread about building a private submarine here on the forums, but I couldn't find it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...4dfa_story.html quote:COPENHAGEN, Denmark — The Danish navy says it is searching for a 40-ton, nearly 18-meter (60-foot) -long, privately built submarine in the waters off Copenhagen with at least two people on board. Jikes posted:Now would be a good time to mention again the Kim Wall Foundation, a nonprofit established by the parents and friends of Kim Wall, a real person who was horribly murdered. It uses donations to fund scholarships and grants for women journalists in Kim's memory. Somebody fucked around with this message at 18:36 on Apr 6, 2018 |

Elukka posted:I was sad when I heard about this and I'm happy he is not dead. Seconded. There was some thread where he was talking about their rocket company (Copenhagen Suborbital?) and basically said "yeah we built our own rocket and towed it out to the ocean launch testing site with the submarine we also built" and I've had a crush on him ever since.

lol it sunk, he's probably only alive because his mum called the police after he didn't come home From the article: quote:Initially the navy said the 40-ton, nearly 18-meter-long (60-foot-long) UC3 Nautilus was “found sailing” south of Copenhagen. However, navy press spokesman Anders Damgaard later said it had sunk and Peter Madsen, who built the vessel that was launched in 2008, had “been taken over to one of our ships.” He declined to give details.

Apparently they're going to be shooting the Nexø II this month. This is the II-er version of Nexø I. If this works as planned they're going to do the next version of rocket engine. If that works, then they're going next level: Spica. Spica is the rocket that will have a human being in it. I've wasted my entire life. It could have been me dying in a tiny space pod. This sucks. Well, it's a bit complicated. First of all, the good who did the A&T is not Peter Madsen, but someone who was involved in Copenhagen Suborbitals. Second, there was, IIRC, a falling out between Peter Madsen and Copenhagen Suborbitals, so Peter went and founded his own rocket lab. There's been a bit of friction now and again. I'm happy he's not dead at the bottom of the cold, dark sea, but I would like the passenger to call home and say she's OK. KomodoWagon posted:Wow, a rich guy has expensive toys? What a shocker.
