I think they’re probably going to stick with giving us a choice of gender for the protagonist, at least for the main games. They’ve been moving in a more RPG-like direction over the past few installments, and that’s a staple of western RPG design.

Well that settles it: guaranteed GOTY for me. The only way that could get any better is if they found a way to give you a sabretooth tiger mount like in Far Cry Primal.

I enjoyed Unity overall but there’s one aspect that sours it for me, and that’s how it treated Elise. It’s annoying enough that she’s not playable despite seeming like she should be (it would’ve been perfect for the dual-protagonists system they later used in Syndicate), but then they go and kill her off at the end just for cheap drama. What a waste.

I hated the simulation-within-a-simulation stuff in Odyssey. At least the animus uses someone's memories so it's a mostly-accurate recreation of stuff that actually happened, but the bulk of the Atlantis dlc was just a different video game being played by your character in this game.
