I really identified with Leon and I wasn't surprised he murdered Reggie Love. The pimps act like they're protected; they forget that violence is always an option for other people, too. Leon, who's kindhearted but also hard, was obliged to remind them.ditty bout my clitty posted:Then how do you explain Emily Meade She wasn't a streetwalker for very long before her star power was discovered.

While the work is awful, I think her loss of position as top whore played a lot into it as well. Right before she has to go in, she's told that the other girl had the day off because she's gotta stay fresh for the movie. Her whole story up to this point was that she was getting replaced. Compare with the black girl who left and came back. Also I love that Want Ads was part of the soundtrack, the real deal not a lovely Jackson 5 wanna be cover like in Vinyl. Hey since the season ends tomorrow, I just wanted to say it was pretty cool hanging out with you guys and discussing it every week start to finish. I caught a couple of shows this way (like Black Sails and Spartacus, of all things, which was great to goon it up with) but I came in late to the fantastic early HBO stuff, like The Wire and Rome and Deadwood. Glad I got the opportunity. Jerusalem, I know you read the thread - any interest in doing an ep by ep breakdown like with the Wire? Some of that poo poo was really insightful. I know the old thread belonged to escape artist, but I haven't seem them post anything in a couple years. Asbury fucked around with this message at 19:30 on Oct 28, 2017 |

Just to be sure, the pusher was just some random rear end in a top hat right? At least I didn't recognize him. I also didn't really get the significance of the revelation that he knew who Ruby's pimp was.

He was either mobbed up or a cop, I think, meant to keep all the women and pimps who wouldn't get on board with the... civic renewal project, I guess, in line.

Good call. Although With the way the show is going I'd say 100% cop. Actually the mob guys are one of the most interesting things about this show to me. It's a really different portrayal of the mafia than I've seen in other entertainment. They aren't the bloodthirsty psychopaths you usually see, waiting to snap at any moment. You know they are capable of violence and murder, but it's a last resort. And the amount of intimidation they are capable of seems limited. They feel pretty believable compared to most mob stuff. Even in stuff like the sopranos they are basically just a bunch of omnipresent serial killers.

He didn't kill her for being on the streets still. He was going to leave until she talked back (something like this happened in the Wire) and asserted that she was a real person with a real name. That's why the episode title was what it is. I don't remember if he was the same guy who beat Eileen, but I doubt he's a cop or a mob guy. He's just a white guy who isn't afraid of a black pimp. I guess anything's possible though, so he might have been a cop or mob guy after all.

Probably half way through the season, right before she starts doing porn. It's what causes her to want a change. Method man tries to use it as a reason to let him pimp her out.
