Nels Cline is one of those guitar players that I discovered by the sheer fortune of being at the strangest place and strangest time and changed how I approached guitar completely. Him, Ry Cooder and Marc Ribot were all happy happenstances that I owe to the two women I respect the most in the Mexican musical landscape, and if you saw one of his solo shows when he goes absolutely HOG on one of his old, beat-up Jazzmasters and got anything out of it, then I am happy I was able to continue the chain started by those two.
