It had been half a year since Sunspear fell but the celebrations of Dornish humiliation still occurred proudly and regularly throughout the Seven Kingdoms, no place more so than Dorne itself ironically. So many new lords flaunting their newfound status and wealth, old ones that bleed for Dorne doing so to show capitulation and obedience to their new masters. With the execution of the head of your house you didn’t really have time for such farces normally. This week was special however. Not only was the Tourney of Sgathaich at your former home but it was celebrating the actual anointment of your new liege lord Gawen Wyldflower, a close childhood friend of King Daeron’s Targeryn’s, as Warden of the Stone Way. Attendance was to be all but mandatory.

Castle Don Sgathaich glistened into the sunlight of the rising sun like a lake in the middle of a mirage would, as you and your procession rode towards it. With luster black stones stacked up in the facsimile of a quartet of giant stone spikes that looked like they were naturally incorporated into the castle design rather than a man made structure. A huge, conspicuous fortress that masqueraded as intimidating art, that was the entire point though. Castle Don Sgathaich was meant to be breath taking or an eyesore depending on your point of view, but it was always meant to catch the attention of all passersby. Remind the Baratheons, the Swanns, the Tyrells, the Tarleys’,Targaryens, and all unwanted visitors that this was Dornish land and that their presence on the Stone Way would be answered. For centuries House Tamas had made sure those answers were unpleasant ones.

Now though they all swarmed in, a plague of locusts the lot of them. They had stolen your land, killed your people, and now they reaped and supped on the fruit your sweat and work bore. True you had been left the single most important resource had been left in your care, but Castle Don Sgathaich and Castle Skullfort had a prestige it didn’t. The finished leather and steel products produced in Sgathaich was popular not just throughout Dorne but the Reach and the Stormlands lords loved outfitting favored trained soldiers with them and the saddles they produced. While Skullfort was named so for not only it’s bloody history but the pure white rocks and minerals used both in the arts and military construction...and also famed for it’s olive trees incidentally. Powerful cultural touchstones linking Dorne’s way of life to your House’s very existence, replaced with the role of money men and smiths. Not a slap, but a sneer.

From what you could tell from on the cliff of horizon, Daeron Targaryn handing Don Sgathaich to his friend Gawen Wyldflower might have been for the best though. While the Wyldflower banner, that of a rose growing out of skull, was the most prominent yours stood proudly at the center of the other five ‘main’ houses of the Stoneway. Only two were those that would have flown near yours prior to the war, the rest either Hightower or Targaryn foreign friends or up jumped little lords or knights benefiting from the. House Wyl remained proud and prominent as ever despite their line was hanging onto a thread. All that remained of your proud and friendly rivals was the now elderly Edmund and his infant granddaughter Wylla the rest of their line extinguished. The Yyornwood banner also flew, though Teresa Yyronwood was no doubt the only one available to show with all her children hostages held at Sunspear. The other was a banner of Redwynes’, no doubt a second or third son who had served with quiet competence who had more than a few strings pulled for him had been rewarded with a castle. Another was that of black goat standing on it’s rear leg’s, Ser “Black” Philip Eggers no doubt was probably accommodating well in Skullfort for turn his coat and leading the Young Dragon down the goat trails. Lord Jermey Luthal banner of a winged horse, who some how lucking in enough not bend the knee quick enough to be dismissed as weak or craven and just long enough to be offered a deal instead of a threat to open his gates.

Other banners flew below them, of visiting and smaller houses. The Daynes and Ladybrights had come from the south, while the Peakes, Tarlys’, Selmeys’, Hightowers, Tyrells, Oakhearts, and Dondarrions had come from from the north. A dozen or so more you could neither not recognize or make out in the combination of the wind and distance. Some were rich and powerful just being magnanimous or curious of new partners, other’s small ones either jockeying for position or just success in the tourney. In any case their horses, attendants, and camp followers had started congesting the normally lonely dusty roads north to Don Sgathaich.

Thick

Thick had been drinking hard from a plump wineskin on his way to Castle Don Sgathaich with Waylar Sand and Jaeros Dyna. He had been jovial all through the journey peals of laughter coming easily from him as he told an off color story about a gimmick fight he had been in the pits of Meereen involving three dwarfs, a prostitute from the house of sighs and a basin full of melted butter.

Looking at all the floral and arbor banners as they approached the castle Thick held his head high and tutted "Ah.. So many weeds in your home Master Sand, perhaps Thick can pull them for you?" he said grinning and flexing muscled bicep.

Coming from the deeps of the Frankenwald to haunt you

Deria Tamas

Deria was half asleep when Sgathaich came into view. Her bay palfrey Sunway had carried her faithfully as always in a constant trot and Deria knew better than to try anything the patient mare would not do on her own. Clad in black travel clothes highlighted with red and and white applications, Deria was sweating under the merciless sun of the Way, the headscarf and hat not helping much and her behind started feeling sore.

When the castle she used to call home came into view, all this was forgotten. She looked at the banners of the Dornish and foreign houses, an assembly of traitors, enemies and spittlelickers. A host of feelings ran through her: from fuzzy memories of her childhood to anger and fear to a grim determination. Her right hand checked that her dirks were still on her belt and her left thigh pressed against Sunway's flank to check if the dagger was still in her boot. She chuckled. Silly child, she thought, you can't just murder them all.

Now she smiled. This tourney, while a grim reminder of the new status quo, was an opportunity. An opportunity to find out who could be an ally to her house, to herself, to find out who stands where, against or with the Wyldflowers, Martells, and Targaeryens. An opportunity to set things into motion. Yes, she was excited. Looking around, she asks: "Anyone else starting to feel excited about this tourney?"

Seban seemed ill at ease the entire trip to Castle Don Sgathaich; constantly fiddling with his far-eyes, dropping back and forth along the pathway. Any conversations short and tense. This was the first chance to see his children in over a year. A chance to find out which of Wyldflowers' allies held them as wards.

Lord Wyldflower. Just the thought of that snake makes his eyes narrow involuntarily. Can't let that show during the anointment.

As soon as the castle comes into view he moves to try and get the best view, peering at the indistinct banners in the distance. Trying to pick out likely houses to take in wards.

The view from the far eyes weaves and bobs from the back of his palfrey. Seban mutters a curse, the banners were no clearer than before.

Riding up to Deria, Seban calls her over, and offers the far-eyes.
"Deria, could you be so kind? My hands are not so steady. Do you recognise the banners ahead?"

"Sure thing, cos", she says as she takes the far-eyes. "The houses of the Stoneway are all there, including us. Wyldflower, Wyl, Yronwood, Eggers, Luthal, and the foreign Redwynes. They seem to have brought Hightowers, Tarlys, Peakes and Oakhearts with them. That's a lot of Reachmen. From the stormlands there's the Selmys. The Daynes and Ladybrights have come as well. There's some more, but I can't make them out either."

She hands the far-eyes back. "Feels like travelling into a foreign country if it weren't for that familiar castle, doesn't it?"

Mykal Tamas

Mykal's eyes were bright and shining as they saw the castle, filled with infectious good cheer. Of course, he'd look like that trapped in a sandstorm with no hope of survival; by dint of great practice he'd learned not to show his nervousness or weakness regardless of the circumstances. And he was, in fact, very nervous. There was a lot at stake for House Tamas at this tourney. Their circumstances were reduced, Dorne was in a state of upheaval, and none were sure about what King Daeron would do next. The future would require allies, and while he had every confidence in his brother as a leader, Mykal knew that much of the negotiation would fall to him. And yet, the best way to bear that responsibility would be to remain outwardly merry and watch carefully.

Mykal trotted up beside Deria and Seban. "Yes, I'm quite looking forward to watching it. I'm sure our Houses will acquit themselves admirably." He gave Deria and Seban a respectful bow of his head; the steward had always seemed a little cold to him and his brother, and Deria was far more experienced than him at the sort of games Mykal played, but to him, that was all the more reason to be courteous. He was fairly confident he could win them over with time and persistence.

Waylar gripped the reins tightly as he gazed out from under his red hood, staring at the castle he'd grown up in, now in foreign lands.

"Indeed, Thick, and in due time. The weeds will be scourged," he replied in Braavosi, for fear of being overheard, despite the rest of the processions being quite far ahead of them.

The three of them rode, Jaeros in front, with Waylar and Thick riding side by side. He wore no banners or other identifying sigils, though he wore his tried and true Brigandine beneath the cloak, the sweltering heat somewhat comforting, a heat he had long since grown accustomed to during the last summer, when he had first learned to lead men.

"As far as these invaders are concerned, we're the weeds. Keep your heads about you.," he warned the two, "the Andals and the First Men still cling to old superstitions and value heredity over a man's true worth." Though he was still technically in his self-imposed exile at the behest of his late father, Waylar could not remain in Essos, not when the Targaryen thieves were hosting a tournament at his family's ancestral home, a public spectacle at which they would undoubtedly force his younger brother to bend the knee and make a fool of himself.

His thoughts lingered on Steffon as they rode on in silence, the castle looming ever closer. His brother had been but a child the last time he'd seen him, a boy with dreams of becoming a knight and fighting like the Northerners did, with thick armor and a straight sword. He wondered if Steffon would enter the tournament, or bow in supplication and defer to others. He wondered if Giddon the Cowardly Traitor would be there, lapping up the leftovers at Daeron Targaryen's feet like the disgusting little mongrel he was. He toyed with the idea of entering the tournament, but thought better of it, lest the new Warden of the Stone Way decide to enact the rite of purification and expunge him, violently, from the Tamasi bloodline.

... still, wouldn't it be grand to see the look on their faces if he were to win and summarily thrash all of their best warriors, a bastard in his ancestral home?

Wouldn't it be grand...

As you reach the actual outskirts of Sgathaich outer walls, the mobs of small folk and knights doesn’t disappear but instead forks and spills into dozens of smaller streams who’s banks were made of peddlers of all kinds, stalls offering food, water or tinkets, and smiths and groomsmen offering their services in yells to all those who looked like they could afford them or those would go into debt thinking they could. The normally drab larger flatter slopes and cliffs seemed to be coated with the stripped tents and pavilions of the richer hedge and normal traveling knights and the poorer or more privacy inclined lords. The town adjacent to Sgathaich and even the rather large local twin inn, The Willy Goat Tavern and Inn and The Chaste Jester, both remained completely unobtrusive in comparison, having blended and been mostly built into the mountain itself.

Most notably though, above the noise of the crowd and the bustling castle town, was the sound and sight of the town cries and heralds beckoning the crowd and passerby loudly and intently, like mother’s looking after their slow witted over eager children. Each screamed directions to various registries, for the joust, for the grand melee, and the archery torment. Seven hells there was even official committees for barding and mummer’s contests and engagements sanctioned by either Wyldflower or Daeron. Some of the criers yelled schedules for the various tournaments and nailed parchments filled with dates and times onto large posts after or as they do so. While only the Joust offered a reward other than honor for anything other than first place, it was clear no expense had been spared for this. It would be easy to just follow the flow from here and enter into any contests offered during the tourney.

The nearest and largest pavilion seemed to be acting as a make shift tavern for traveling knights, little lords, and wealthier merchants, looking to unwind before they got their accommodations and to avoid even larger crowds nearer and in the castle and town. While not necessarily good faces, they seemed to be well traveled, down low enough to the ground yet slightly high enough to be told and care about the same things that effect you, and drunk and tired enough to talk.

You still had most of the day ahead of you and yet another before the events actually began, you could unwind and reach Sgathaich at your own pace yet.

OOC: Anyone who wants to look at the various pavilions’ banner for familiar faces can roll whatever they feel appropriate, though Knowledge (Education) and Status (Breeding/Tournaments) would work best. Anyone who wants tp sign up for a tourney can for the most part, however all those who take part in the Joust must be a knight or nobility (aka status 3 or above). Feel free to explore the pavilion or vendors.

You are guests of honor for Gawen Wyldflower, so you will be staying in Castle Don Sgathaich itself however

Mykal observed the pavilions for familiar faces and important people. He certainly had no intention of entering the tournament, but no doubt there would be many other lords with whom to speak. Steffon looks up at the walls of Castle Don Sgathaich, sees the banners flying over them, and has to look away, the wind making his eyes water. So, they were guests of Lord Wyldflower, staying in "his" castle? It was almost too much to bear. He remembers, when he was young, his father had taken him and Mykal out to the edge of the sand desert, where they were guests of some other lord. He remembered watching the Sand Hawks as they wheeled overhead, and seeing one dive on one of the rodents that had foolishly wandered from a rocky crevice out on the sand, and he remembered his father was fascinated with the strike, the kill. "See, Mykal, Steffon?", Father had said, "When he was in his rocky home, he was safe, but he left it, and now is food for hawks."

Mykal had gone ahead, he saw, was up with their cousin and Steward Seban, and he wonders if his brother remembered Father's lesson.

Waylar spotted his brother, Steffon, as the young man entered the throught he castle gate ahead ahead of him. He pulled his hood a little closer, shielding the sun and snooping eyes from his face as he scanned the ramparts, spotting a younger man who he could only assume was Mykal... my how he'd grown. Seban looked no different, the girl with them he did not recognize. He continued to scan the ramparts for familiar faces, as well as the byways and market stalls as the trio entered the castle and made their way to the Willy Goat Tavern. He paid for two rooms with a linking door, and after settling in headed down to the tavern proper to order some dinner and people watch further, to quietly try to get a lay of this seemingly strange new land.

Mykal was a strange one. That nasty business with the assassination plot... False plot, apparently, but you never know. Or perhaps this was another of Wildflowers plots to drive a wedge through the family?

"Ah, unless you will be participating? I shall cheer for you if you..."

Seban trails off as the tent comes into view.

"I must apologise, my lord, my lady, I must excuse myself."

Merchants may not be open to hash out deals in the tent, but it was important to lady the groundwork now, make connections, find out who is in need of House Tamas's iron, and the like. And there might be rumours to be heard, who may be supplying the rebels? Who is sympathetic to their plight? And perhaps there may even be whispers of houses that have taken in wards...

"You are welcome to join me, but it may be a little dull. Speaking of dragons and Stags". He pats a money pouch on his waist, clinking its contents.

Seban looks for wealthy merchants, perhaps old friends or contacts from his time traveling the narrow sea.

Seban, Waylar, and Mykal all notice the famous banner of the Dayne, that of a sword and a shooting star, the former Warden of the Prince's Path, the Fowler's and their hooded hawk, and that of your former vassal House Eggers and the image of the goat standing on it's hind legs. Steffon himself noticed two more obscure details, that of the Crownlands house Malroy, one of the original vassals of House Tarageryn dating back before the fall of Valyria, and that the personal heraldry of the black goat of Ser Philip Eggers, the one who personally betrayed you. Odd considering he should have personal quarters in the castle itself

Thick

With no commands from Waylar Sand Thick wanders and enjoys the tournament's fair like atmosphere. He buys food and drink and goes from attraction to attraction, laughing at the antics of mummers and shouting in glee at the feats of jugglers. In one massive hand he carries a roasted whole chicken that he takes wolfy bites out of, in the other hand he holds a large mug of ale.

Finally he comes to the melee registry pavilion, mouth full of chicken he speaks to the scribe “Sign Thick up” some half-chewed chicken flies out of his mouth onto parchment as he speaks. Using the edge of his ale mug he taps the Tamas family crest embroidered on the surcoat of his armor. He smiles toothily “It’ll be fun to smash little westerosi knights.”

Deria Tamas

As Seban goes his own way, Deria decides to do the same. "I'll be looking for some other familiar faces", she says with a smile, "would be nice to meet up with some old friends." She removes her hat and headscarf and starts walking around, looking for the colors or banners of families whose children used to keep her company, looking for those old friends.

Mykal Tamas

Mykal chuckled in answer to Seban's question even as he wondered if it was a veiled insult. "Oh no, my talents have never lain on the field of battle. But I will leave you two to your tasks, and wish you good fortune. I should go and greet the other Houses." He looked over the various banners before him, and eventually decided upon visiting House Dayne's pavilion. They were...controversial figures within House Tamas, considering the reported actions of Gidden Dayne during the invasion. But friend or foe, Mykal knew it would be better to see firsthand what the politics of the house would be.

Seban
As Seban enters the pavilion, he notices just how picturesque it really was. Balding men with thick facial hair, wearing everything from dust stained silks and cottons of the wealthier little lords and merchants to the dirtier more workmen and mundane fabrics of the less fortunate merchants, hedge knights, and other smallfolk connected to the traveling lords, smoked fine craved pipes and drank from wooden mugs emblazoned with the crest of Wyldflower. The sound laughter and dirty jokes filled the air even more the dark gray clouds of smoke blotting the air. Still rumbling clatter on the counter and tables, of fingers and anxious whispers. Tongues were wagging here.

A heavy set man in his early forties or late thirties in blue and purple satin clothes, who would have never almost fit in too well if not for his flowing bark brown hair and dancing twinkling brown eyes. He sat at the stool at the very corner keeping his back to the wall and his face facing his three companions as he regaled them with tales and anecdotes of his travels. By a stroke of luck recognizes him as Franklyn of Brunhil, a Dornish wine merchant who usually avoided northerners and sold his stock in the Free Cities.

”So I told that Giovann to shove up that old parchment up his arse, we weren’t in Braavos we were in Ly- by the Seven is that Seban? It’s been a dog’s age old friend.” Franklyn said, raising to his feet his smile growing even wider.

Thick and Jaeros

A man in fop hat just sighs, wiping off half chewed and ale soaked chicken from his coat with a blue handkerchief, as he pulls out two scrolls as large as his arm and a feathered pen from his ear, scribbling to down something after the two of you state your names for each even you want to enter.

“A reminder, each contest whether it’s the grand melee or archery goes by elimination rules. You fail once you lose and are out. In the archery contest this means you just have to hit the target until you enter the final rounds. For the melee...well I’m sure you know when your on your rear end and bleeding it’s all over. Jaeros you are free to use whatever equipment you desire as long as it’s inspected. ...Thick? Bloody foreigners and your stupid names, you must select from the weapons we provide you. Too many people have brought sharpened weapons to settle old grudges for us to just trust any riff raff who sign up” The foppish man says in a bored and half disgusted voice. “ Now as for the prize money...

OCC: Finishing first in either event will award you 400 dragons and Three Glory points, as well as a special Item. Finishing Second will give you two Glory points. Finishing Third will give you one Glory Point. There are no coins for anything then first and no prizes whatever for finishing less than in the top three. If anyone wants to sign up for the joust the prize is 600 dragons for first, a special gift, and 4 Glory points, Second place 200 dragons and three Glory points, and for Third two Glory Points. You also stand to make a killing with ransoms.

Seban puts one arm round Franklin, slapping his back cheerfully.

Making her way into town she made sure to sign up for the archery and jousting lists before slipping into the main pavilion with her household guard. She mingles with the crowd, listening for rumors. A habit she picked up in the course of ruling her unique fiefdom. Suddenly she notices a familiar face talking with a man in the corner: her uncle...Simon? NO! Seban! That was it. She briefly looks around for her fathers sister, but it didn't look like Yamina was here. Time to make introductions.

Steffon and Mykal

As the two of you talk towards the tent and the giant banner of house Dayne, you notice just how organized and ordered things are here in comparison to most of the other tents in the surrounding area. All of the servants, whether they be cooking dinner, maintaining weapons and armor, cleaning clothes and other laundry, or throwing pots of nightsoil seemed to be on specific pattern to the point it looked like a dance. Wash this, place it here, go back while another grabs it, and start it all over again. No people running into each other, placing pots and pans in the wrong side of the tent, nobody accidentally starting on a previous task before another one. It all likelihood Gidden or whoever in the household in charge of this had kept a tight leash on the staff taking only from their estate and not any camp followers.

While outside of the smallfolk going about their routine, a handsome man with dark flowing black locks of hair that came down to his shoulders was cleaning a long silver sword while smiling vacantly and subtly to himself. With aquiline features and bronze skin that seems to be radiate with the way the sun drifted on him, he had the look of regal prince hopping straight out straight out of a bard's song or a child's dreams. Thought with the lavender eyes it definitely seemed like one from the northern kingdoms. Still there was no denying either his grace nor the fact he definitely was not Gidden. This man seemed to be in his thirties, therefore much too old, and had too much of blood of the Sandy Dorinishmen to be him. No, from his manner this definitely was Orland Dayne, his nephew. He looked towards the two of you are you approach and nods solemnly.

"I'm afraid you missed my uncle if you're looking for him, he's gone to sign the two of us for the tourney. There is stew if you're hungry, it's got crawfish, red peppers, green onion...I and I forgot but it's good. Marie is the best damned cook in High Hermitage." He says patting a long series of crates next to him. "I'd love to talk to some Dornishmen for a change. Can't move your elbow without swatting two northerners anymore."

Waylar, Thick and Jaeros

While the fop suddenly turns spittle little and rushes to aid Waylar in the most convenient manner possible, going as far as to sign for him and stamp it with a prepared red waxy seal he had stashed in a compartment under him, a sudden snort happens behind him. An all too familiar one to your ears. The sound of boy man trying to sound dismissive and impertinent. A fraud trying to issue authority. A craven trying to sound intimidating.

You look behind you, seeing a man who whose face you'd used to bring a smile to your face, but might just bring forth bad ones now. Pale skinned outside of the coal fire red spots and rashes breaking out on him, it’s silk like quality along with his short, but sharp features could be considered handsome if not beautiful to a stranger. But to you it was just the visage of a ghost of an event that angered you. Gidden Dayne.

“The one thing I looked forward to when the bloody Targs took over is that we might be done with you lot. But I guess bastards and foreigners go hand in hand by the looks of you.” Gidden said with a snort.

Seban and Zehiya

“Of course,of course. How rude of me, forgive me spent too much time in Braavos among my own that I forgot my how one treats friends, let alone friends with blue blood.” A smile appears on the hefty man’s face. As he flops down on his chair and begins to motion to the others around him with a jab of his mug with each introduction. “This is Antoni of Braavos, he insures both the merchant ships of Braavos and some navy ships. He’s here about the troubles on the Stepstones. That there is Matthew of Pennytree, a damned fine smith, he’s here hoping Gawen Wyldflower will take him on officially. Can’t see why not, he’d made all the man’s tourney gear. And this beautiful specimen is my niece, Ann of Brunhil, goes some great work in dyes and perfumes is just here to gouge all the Ladies whom are tying to seduce all the handsome young knights as much as she can.”

He himself breaks a loaf of bread and offers it you, while stuffing his giant piece into his mouth in one single gulp. His famous love of food was still there it seemed.

“Aye but I don’t think you’d be interested in all that. I wouldn’t want to bore you” He continues in a voice that suggests the opposite. He was just dying to talk and gossip. He leans over to you smiling before his eyes turn to the new arrival.

"My my, you didn't tell me you had such a precious jewel hidden away. You're going to have to beat those knights off her with a stick. Or a sword. You did bring Waylar with you did you not?"

Deria

A long the pathway that had been hastily devised for both the campers and peddlers, a small man with bright red hair and uneven teeth, played on a harp while man in hard leathers and sheathed weapons and women in fine dresses and with funny scents that just screamed rich, pampered, and probaly noble seemed to either fawn or cheer him on. Well despite his flaws, he was good looking in common and gruff sort of way. But his voice was legitimately stunning.

Unlike many singers, he seemed to go with a low, deep voice instead of a high pitched tempo. Likewise Lyrics where less obvious but paradoxically accented each one. He also knew how to interact with the audience stirring a knight who’s attention might have been wavering into a laugh or the content purrs of the women by a well placed wink or other movement towards them.

The song is what interests you though, as it was that of the bravery and skill of Aemon the Dragonknight and the wit and cleverness of Daeron the Young Dragon. The Dornish craven nature and dishonorable tricks not enough to stop them. Seven hells the land of Dornish, hellish though it was, was not enough to stop the brave, beautiful, and (well endowed the singer added as a joke that got everyone laughing) knights of the Seven Kingdoms.

You’ve heard worse.

What strikes you though is a couple of faces in the audience. The only man to be scowling, was a man who squired to your father until he was taken as a ward by the Tarly’s. He wore the same tunic and colors as the rest, but his olive skin (and subtle placement of his coat of arms) betrayed him Robin Ladybright. He looked to you in recognition and shrugged his shoulders. ‘Could you believe this?’

The other was a pale skinned beauty, with soft angular lavender eyes and silver hair of the Targeryn’s. You’d had seen her once before, when your home was siege finally ended. While most of the women and girls of Westros played with dolls and needles, especially since the Dance of Dragons, this one took the battlefield and was legendary there. They said she was a centaur, and though you’d had only seen her in armor, you already knew then that was a lie. With or with out the dress, she just had two legs. She locked eyes with you and smiled.

She that least thought there had been comparatively little animosity between the two of you. She advocated that you’re father been an ‘honored guest’ and not face the sword or axe. She’d had been an honorable jailer and host to you after the fall of your castle. Yes, Rheya Malfoy thought of you as a friend.

Seban happily tears off a much smaller piece of bread, relaxing, smiling. For a moment he is back in Braavos, or Myr, or some other city, any other city. Old friends and new faces in equal supply. Troubles forgotten. He could already see the opportunities opening up in front of him; an introduction here, a purchase there.

He picks up the bottle and pours a glass for each of the others as he speaks briefly to them. He knew just the kind of people this Antoni was looking for, and a positive word would open doors both ways. Matthew... a good contact to have, ears on Wyldflower. And good smiths are always good to know. And Ann? Well, as Franklin's niece, nothing more needed to be said. Seban owed much to Franklin, and extended that to his family.

Seban speaks briefly in broken, heavily accented Braavosi- "Ah, Braavos! I've been away too long!" - before switching back to common.
"Good memories back there, good stories. Franklin knows all the best ones."
Turning to Matthew-
"So your work will be on display in the tourney? I look forward to seeing your handiwork."
Finally, looking to Ann-
"Any family of Franklin is family to me. If there is anything, I am at your disposal."

Deria Tamas

The sight of Robin was a surprise. A welcome one. The sight of Lady Rheya was- Deria was not sure how to feel about her. She had treated her and her family well, with honor and seemingly no hostility once things moved past battle. Still Deria's instincts suggested she was an enemy. But this is neither the time nor the place for such feelings, her reason decided - it was time to be more diplomatic.

She replied to Robin's shrug with an honest smile and an eyeroll. 'I know, those northerners.' When Lady Malfoy met her gaze, she returned a courteous smile and started walking towards them. "Lady Malfoy, it's quite the surprise to see you here", she greeted her while doing a curtsy, "and a pleasure, I might add." Turning to Robin, she says: "Ah, Robin, it's good to see you well. How has the North treated you? Or is it Ser Robin now?" She laughs a little, suggesting the question was not entirely serious.

In the meantime, Deria tries to recall some more information about these two and their respective houses.

Ser Orland laughs and shakes his head humbly at Steffon's thanks and greeting, a sad smile reaching to his ears for a moment. It only lasts for a moment and his vacant look and smile replaces it, like he's used to looking into another world and had only come briefly to visit this one and was glad to have this strange alien company.

I doubt you or the rest of your family will eat a decent meal once dinner begins, Lord Wyldflower brought much of his old household and that of Daeron's here. Doubt any of them could cook with lamb that well, let alone with mushrooms and peppers." Ser Orland Dayne says with a smile. "We are well meet though Lord Tamas and Mykal, though I suggest you too hurry up and eat, I don't think Gidden will be happy to see you. His lack of experience embarrassed him deeply but he lays the blame on the feet of your brother for that I apologize."

As Steffon asks if he's participating in the tourney he gives a laugh.

"Aye we are, though mayhaps I shouldn't. The Tourney at White Harbor, in honor of Jon Manderly's nameday, is why I missed the war. Still I'm like a drunkard to booze for these things, if they honor the day my house was humiliated. Is Waylar participating in the Joust and the Melee, for I will be participating in both." Ser Orland answers with a smile.

That isn't good news. The only thing beating Orland's reputation as a tourney knight, which had done well enough to single handily reverse the cadet branches fortunes, was his reputation with the blade and battle. Winning two dozen major jousts, a dozen melees, and unseating Aemon the Dragonknight almost as much as the man unseated him was quite the feat. But he was the Sword of Morning after all and that is all that needed to be said, because to those who knew it, knew it came first in any accomplishment. The Daynes often went generations before naming one, and they almost always stood above the majority of even the Kingsguard.

He looks at the two of you moment as you register this.

"Aye don't worry, I can't take it with in the melee nor would I want to. It's for war and that's for fun."
Orland has a fighting of 6, an animal handling of 4, and a bunch of long sword and spear fighting styles. He also has the Tourney Knight quality. He has a speical weapon similar to Valeyrain Steel but can't use it.

Thick, Waylar, Jaeros

The boy man flushes as the rest of the line and the clerks of the registry laugh aloud at Waylar's sharp witticism. He looks over the three of you, stopping only to wipe off the chicken Thick spat on him again with his bout of laughter, handing a slip of papers and pre signed forms to the foppish clerk.

"See that you make sure these names on the list, wouldn't want my nephew to get angry with me." Gidden whispers with his head down, glaring up at the three of you only once, before sulking away like a whipped dog into the town.

Seban and Zehiya

Franklyn laughed merrily along with the others but stopped when noticing the bit of tension and sorrow briefly. Years of being a merchant or the instinct that allowed him to be a merchant successfully for years had given him a knack for social cues and situations that even others didn't notice. He was all smiles again though when conversation resumed and it was clear this wasn't going to be discussed or elaborated on at least when was here. He had a knack for that too. Ann did too apparently as she switched along with uncle to business conversation.

"Beating off knights, if you forgive milady but if you'd forgive a little Flea's Bottom, I thought that was the point of squires." Ann said softly, causing a brief pause and then explosion of laughter, as Frankyln almost choked to death and chair begin honestly waddling. After three or so minutes more of weak follow ups from the rest of the group. Finally Matthew paused when Seban looked and apologized to him.

"It's more than alright to me milord, us smallfolk know the men who are too serve aren't always the most virtuous. But in this case I think you confuse the father for the son. Gawen the Elder, died from a fever infection three weeks ago, it's Gawen the Younger, the Young Dragon's...friend...that is inheriting the castle and getting the title of Warden of Stone's Pass. It was originally going to go "Black" Philip, hence why the old fart isn't even stepping foot into Castle Don Sgathaich. Though I don't know why, who bloody cares if the rumors of Gawem and Dareon are true, he's a swell lad and a fair knight. Paid me and all his servants well, and was always honorable and humble when it came to the lists. The uncle is still alive, Ser Luke, nasty as a viper that one. As for my wares well, I was highly sought after in the Reach but dislike the snobbishness. If you aren't at least the son of house hold knight you're less than a dog. If you're a landed knight, well then you're a person. I know we was always supposed to hate Dorne, but you pay just as well down here and don't spit on his and ask us to thank you for the pleasure..."

Matthew's equipment is of superior quality, and if you want could be hired as an Artisan with your House Wealth

Deria

Robin snorted but smiled a bit.

"Aye, its Ser now. And it treated me very well The Tarly's were both nice enough to finish my training and let accompany them to Don Sgathaich." He barks out sarcastically. "I am now to serve Lord Wallard Talry as he takes over his new castle on the Stone Way. A little thing, but the second son will be make due with my granduncle's pittance of an inheritance."

Malroy returns your bow and runs to you offering a friendly hug.

"Oh Lady Tamas, where did you get this dress. You Dornish women always look so pretty" She asks, all smiles.

Robin is the heir of a cadet branch of Ladybright, a formerly very wealthy and financial one. He had two castles in his inheritance, as his younger sister was married off to some other lord and her children would be across Dorne and not have the chance to challenge for inheritance. Is now done to one. Terrible with the lance, decent with the spear and sword, but great with the ax. If he's in the melee he stands a decent shot. He might be looking for aid in ensuring he gets to inherit that remaining castle.

Rheya is the heir of House Malroy of Old Valria, similar to House Celtigar and Velaryon. While all three were vassals from before the Doom of Valria, while the other two were mercantile and with ocean power, Malroy had been cavalry and horse breeders. They often marry into the royal family when a spare brother or sister isn't available like the Velaryon's, though one born bearing the surname hasn't been queen or king yet. One of the principal houses, she has been recently granted the title of Warden of the King's Wood, to add to her prestige.

Rheya isn't a knight and is a woman, but is allowed to participate is equestrian, melees, and archery contests (outside of the Reach). She MIGHT be participating the joust as this would be her first chance to do so. She has won more than a fair number of archery contests for herself, developing one hell of a reputation. She has won a great number of equestrian contests, but alas this tourney has none. She is no doubt entered into the archery contest.

She is 23, unmarried, and a close friend of the king. There is rumor given the supposed icy relationship between Daeron the First and his sister wife, that the High Septon will dismiss his marriage so he can marry her. These are only rumors however and there are other explanations as to by Daeron has never set foot in his wife's bedroom since their Bedding. Then again it's possible all the rumors are true, he wouldn't be the first man to swing both ways nor the first Targaryen to be disgusted by the tradition of marrying a sibling or close relative

Mykal Tamas

"It must be incredible, to have seen so many tourneys. Experience must do wonders for your nerves; I'm not even participating and I find myself with the jitters." Mykal, not one for combat himself, nonetheless seems very impressed and fascinated by the Sword of Morning. He peppered the man with questions about previous tourneys, notable victories, even specific techniques he liked to use in the field. Sure, the questions occasionally circled back to House Dayne, but Mykal seemed so caught up in the glamour and glory of Ser Orland's stories that it was hard to fault him, if it was even noticeable underneath Mykal's effusive good cheer. After all, even the most humble man can't help but feel flattered at being found fascinating.

Ser Orland's disposition improves by four steps due to Magnetic.

Asking the following questions:
What's House Dayne specifically looking to accomplish at this tourney? What allies are they looking to impress? What rivals are they looking to show up?
How strongly is House Dayne positioned politically? Economically?
How strongly is your House aligned with the Targaryens?
What are your weaknesses in a joust or melee?

Deria swallows down a comment about how we all have to make due in the situation we are in now, considering the company they're in. "It's good to have you back in Dorne, Ser Robin", she offers with a heartfelt smile.

"You're too kind, mylady. I think it's all perspective, though. Here in Dorne I'm just one pea in a pod and everybody is astonished by the beauty of the blood of Old Valyria." Deria lets her eyes wander over Rheya's face, half deliberately to underline her words, half in genuine admiration of her Valyrian features. "We do have the advantage that the weather doesn't require to hide as much of us, though", she says, playfully wiggling her bare shoulders. "I bet you would look breathtaking in a little purple lace. It would complement your skin so well. You should really see what Lewyn of Sunspear does with Myrish these days. His dresses are all the rage at the Prince's court these days, I hear. Alas, I must make do with this." She grabs one side of her skirt and lets it flutter in a light breeze that just happens to come by.

Deria laughs at herself. "Oh listen to me blather on like a little girl. I'm sure you didn't come here for my fashion advice", she continues, then pauses, waiting for Lady Malroy to tell her why she came, hopefully. Deria will listen carefully, trying to gouge how friendly Rheya really is towards her.

Mykal Tamas

Ser Orland Dayne laughs at that and smiles in embarrassment at your praise, his dark cheeks almost blushing like that of young girl. He tries to downplay and deflate his reputation by either contextualizing it or deflecting the honor to one of his many comrades or opponents he's faced over the years. Still he laps it up and you think he might be playing up his humble nature just a bit. Still there is a nice element of truth in what he tells you that you wouldn't have found anywhere else about the man and his house.

"Our position politically? Of all the major houses of Dorne, my uncle's and mine on paper are probably the strongest in Dorne right now. Gidden bending the knee preserved our estate and properties in the condition they were before the war mostly. Our forces are mostly in tact, there are plenty who died in the march thanks to dysentery, disease, and the like...but few died in battle. We should be sitting pretty if you just go by the books but there's too much sitting out of them of that to be true at all. All the lords hate Gidden one way or another. The northerners trust him, but think him weak and craven, stripping him of many honorary titles and skirt his border everyday taking advantage of his fear. They offer us plump contracts and trading deals, but their houses are far from in order and often the paper is worth more than actual profits from the agreement currently. The Dornish lords legally can't do anything and must abide by the contracts they signed long ago. Somehow bandits and weather ever prevents their goods from coming in. Worse our tax collectors most go in larger numbers and with more steel now least they not return at all." Orland says with a yawn, slurping from his bowel "I always attend these things, but Gidden is here mostly not to embarrass himself and show he can fight. Likewise he's here to shore up his alliance with the northern lords, feeling it's too little too late to rebuild them with his fellow Dornish lords. Gidden is obsessed with earning the respect of Targaryen along with his trust. He plans on ambushing the poor boy with Redwyne and couple other of them. I of course think the best course of action is rebuilding those alliances, as to create leverage at the very least."

It sounded like that was the very least indeed, there was more than a little hostility there.

As for his jousting style and melee style, his weaknesses and strengths? In the joust he's honorable to a fault, and refuses to break the rules whatsoever even if an opponent is let alone acknowledge they would. He also has a habit of not looking away when his lance hits. In the melee he has the opposite problem, he too used to practicle fighting with the blade, he slips into the habit of fighting defensively and not worrying about First Blood and about staying alive.

Deria Tamas
Ser Robin nods at this and leaves, though not before glancing back at the you and the Valyrian girl in suspicion quickly.

Lewyn is it? I'll be heading to Sunspear as it to visit Lord Lyonel Tyrell. Though Myrish silks require a girl to be more...skinny...they tend to droop in the chest otherwise, though fashion does change and I have been seeing more than a few other 'skinny' women who wore them well." Rheya says with a laugh.

As Rheya laughs at fashion advice, takes your hand as she does so, almost leading like she leading you off somewhere. Her laugh is all too strained but very real, as he keeps up the small talk into a much sparser and emptier part of the town. Eventually the banter stops when you hit the normal flat slope of the mountain, a little close for the cliff and edge for wandering travelers to be too interested in exploring. Her face keeps the smile but it's a little worried now. The face of the person delivering good but serious news.

"Deria, your father is still alive. He's still at Sunspear. Daeron is thinking of releasing him into a trusted Dornish lord's custody as a show of good faith. Gawien agrees but Lord Lynoel Tyrell and and Ser Luke Wyldflower massively disagree. When he meets Steffon and the others, be there. Bend the knee and say the words, make the old men look like paranoid fools. Don't let on that you'd know, otherwise he won't trust it.

You succeeded with two degrees. Rheya Malroy is currently Friendly
