Altdorf, captial of the Empire, sprawling metropolis, shining beacon of civilization, market of markets, hive of scum and villany. No matter your opinion, it's hard to deny that Altdorf is a place where things happen. It's a place to make a living, be it by menial labor, making or peddling wares, off the purses of those that do, or by finding the favor of someone wealthy. Whatever your reason is, you're on your way to Altdorf. Whether you seek employment, seek excitement or simply return home, you're traveling towards the capital. So far, it's been uneventful thanks to young Emperor Karl Franz's efforts to increase the saftey throughout the empire. But whether you want to or not, darkness and chaos are creeping everywhere and, yet unbeknownst to you, they're also creeping up on you. As with all good adventures, it will start in a tavern. Or an inn, as it were. As the day nears its end, you are about to set foot into a roadside coaching inn where it all begins... Welcome to yet another game of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, 2nd Edition. There's been a flurry of these lately and they've been met with lots of interest, so here's another chance for everyone to make characters and hope for the best. This will be a play-by-post game for 6 players, give or take. Character Creation WFRP's character creation is fairly simple and full of exciting dice rolling. Most of what you need is in the quote below which I shamelessly stole from John Dyne's recruitment thread. Of course, one of the appeals of these threads is seeing what fate has in store for you by letting the GM roll for your starting career. I will not let you down! You have three options: 1) BABYMODE: you pick your race (out of the basic dwarf, elf, halfling or human) and starting career yourself. 2) BOYMODE: I give you four rolls: one starting career for each of the four possible races and you pick one of the combinations. 3) MANMODE: I roll one race/career combo for you, deal with it. When it comes to rolling for stats, you have the choice between: A) FANTASYMODE: Roll 2d10 eight times and assign them to the eight stats as you wish, but you don't get Shallya's Mercy. B) REALMODE: Roll 2d10 eight times, but assign them in order, from Weapon Skill to Fellowship. Then you may apply Shallya's Mercy, replacing any one roll with 11. These choices determine how many (if any) additional starting advances you get on top of the one mandated by the rules. Babymode and Fantasymode don't give any. Realmode gets you two more advances, Boymode one, and MANMODE three. Or just look at this handy list: 1+A) 1 advance 1+B) 3 advances 2+A) 2 advances 2+B) 4 advances 3+A) 4 advances 3+B) 6 advances Start by making a post indicating whether you want to use BABYMODE, BOYMODE, or MANMODE. Once you got your choices, roll up stats and decide whether you want to go FANTASYMODE or REALMODE. Roll up the secondary characteristics as described in the nice summary below. Add all skills, talents, and trappings from both your race and starting career to your character sheet. Copy the career's advance scheme to your character sheet. Either roll for the cosmetic stuff like hair color, star sign, or number of siblings on the tables in the core rulebook or make them up as you like - no bonuses or penalties from that choice. Finally apply the starting advances. Post a character sheet and a bit of backstory. A character portrait is always nice, but not mandatory. If you were to ask Alane how she felt about her life, she would sum it up in a word: prosiac. Well, to be more exact, she'd give you a long, flowery speech that boiled down to that same conclusion. By all rights, she has nothing to complain about. She's currently training to succeed her father as the master of the Norovir Trading Company, one of the preeminent Altdorf shipping firms, and she has done much to win approval from her tutors and even some competitors in the field. There's simply one problem: She'd rather spend her time dueling the guards. It started off, like most things in her life, as a bit of a lark. Her father had assigned a bodyguard to her — something which she strenously objected to — so she decided to prove she didn't need one by beating him in a contest of arms. Being an elf, and being that her man was a mere human, how could she lose? Yet lose she did. Needless to say, this awoke her righteous elvish indignation and, for the first time in her life, inspired her to actually try. The duels became training sessions, though she'd never admit it, and it was not long before she exceeded her guard's skill at arms. He does not mention that he has been on the run for some time. That he left the Moot after stealing one too many pies, ales, and ... other things. He doesn't mention that he occasionally waylays travelers for their goods and coin. It just wouldn't do to go advertising the less than legal methods he acquires the coin that he pays for his drink with. Much better to keep it to the legal ones. Still the coin is beginning to thin out, and he hardly wants to bring on too much heat with the illegal jobs. Filamir Harrond Filamir usually introduced herself as a trade envoy of Harrond Wineyards, a prestigious exporter of wine from Athel Loren and one of the few groups of the forests residents to regularly wander outside it. Clarification: The list with how many advances you get from which combination of options includes the normal free advance. MANMODE/REALMODE gets 6 advances TOTAL, not in addition to the free advance. Tricky and Ryuujin, as far as I can see you are the only ones who made this mistake at this point. Please remove one advance. Ryuujin, please add the Wound advances to the list of advances taken. Waci, you don't need to buy the skills and talents of your starting career - you just get them (with the exception of picking up additional options from where you get to pick from a number of choices). Add those to your character sheet and use those advances on stats instead.

Tired of life on an Averland farm, Frida signed on with a passing regiment promising adventure, fortune, and glory. Instead she got a rapid education in the way a short person with a crossbow can kill a much bigger unarmed peasant with a grievance against their local lord. The brutal work was bad enough, but when the pay stopped flowing and the blood didn't she had to take matters into her own hands (or feet) and leave. Altdorf is a magnet for mercenaries at the best of times, and those times are long ago. Khachi Growing up on the cold steppes of Kislev, Khachi learned to ride as soon as he could walk. He spent his days in the saddle, guiding and watching over the clan's herd along with his five elder brothers. They did their best to avoid trolls and other monsters that lurk in the north, but one day they ventured too far. The herd was scattered and Khachi's father and oldest brother were killed. With their livelihood gone, what was left of the family migrated to the city of Kislev to seek work. After a few years of living day to day, eking out a meaningless existence doing unskilled labour, Khachi's mother was dead of some city disease and the brothers descended into alcohol and petty crimes. Stepan, the youngest of Khachi's brothers, caught the ire of a particularly notorious crime lord, putting them all at risk. They fled the city towards the Empire and settled in Bechafen, Ostermark. But while his brothers were content to resume their lives of vice, Khachi found the change of scenery refreshing. Luckily, he had refused to get rid of his horse and dog since his droving days, so he was equipped to keep going, taking up a life of constant wandering between Imperial settlements, taking on odd jobs wherever possible, and generally staying out of too much trouble.
