These mistakes happen all the time if you think poo poo like this isn't happening in every single piece of software/service you use you're wrong. The only reason we know/care is because people wanted to dislike something about the EGS. For me, and I suspect for other people to, the causality was reversed: We saw EGS getting caught, and started disliking them for this dumb bullshit. And I'm pretty sure if other services get caught with this kind of thing in the future, they'll face backlash, too. It's not about EGS especially, just that they happen to be the first who got caught.
