Ugh yeah that MC is like a smug redditor.

I really hate it when someone tries to take a kid's IP and make it "dark and gritty" for anything more than a oneoff joke. It's like my eyes want to roll themselves out of my head. I just can't take them seriously.

If the OP is still taking suggestions for Good Webcomics:

ALL-STARS:
Kiwi Blitz: A robotics billionaire's eccentric daughter decides to become a super hero, but ends up making things worse for everyone around her. By Mary Cagle, creator of Let's Speak English and Sleepless Domain.

Fantasy:
Parallax: A below-average high school receives a strange shard of glass by his homeroom teacher and becomes a (very pink) magical super hero.
Awaken: A sheltered playboy rich kid's life is upended after he begins to manifest magical powers in a magic-suppressing authoritarian city state.
Everblue: In a world covered by water and dotted with floating city states, a talented shipwright encounters a drifter with a flying boat who claims he's out to find the "New World" beyond the sea.
Thistil Mistil Kistil: A recently-deceased Viking boy is sent by Odin on a quest to recover the lost fragments of the Aesir's weapons, which were stolen by Loki. And the only one who can help him get them back... is Loki. (currently on extended hiatus)

Science Fiction:
Moképon: A "mature" Pokémon fan comic that actually looks at the Pokémon world from a mature adult perspective instead of your average grimdark teenage "mature" take on the franchise.

Horror/Paranormal:
The Zombie Hunters: A crew of wasteland scavengers for one of the last outposts of humanity left in the world struggle to come to terms with the death of their former captain (and the conspiracy that killed him).

Seconding these two.

Yeah, I honestly don't know what the hell's up with TMK. Last I heard the author was focusing on getting a print version of the first few chapters published and that took up the majority of her time, and now she appears to be lost in publishing side story comics set in the same world on Patreon to try and raise money.

But yeah, the comic itself hasn't seen a proper update in almost a year now after barely missing an update for 7 years, so I'm just gonna assume that sheep thief just up and shanked Arne and that's where the comic ends.

It's loving gorgeous, but it's been going for over a year now, something like a hundred pages, and has only just now gotten to the second phase of the first boss fight. There's no way they're going to be able to keep up that kind of quality with that kind of deliberate pace.

Minus completely disappearing from the internet is a goddamn shame. That was such a well crafted comic.

I know he had a controversial breakdown, but I always get bummed out that Pictures for Sad Children just completely stopped too. But it might be best for John Campbell's mental health.

Edit Wait, it's still up on Archive.org.

Edit2 Found a semi-complete mirror of most of his old stuff, though the site does look the tiniest bit sketchy.

STOP BEING EVIL.

The comic ending was fine, whatever, author can do what he wants. The real shitshow was the whole weird performance art thing with taking down the site and burning the preordered books, or however the whole thing went down.

I didn't mind PFSC ending but completely erasing it (And the follow up Michael Keaton comic) from existence...that seemed a bit much. But "John Campbell" was pretty clearly in a bad, bad place when everything went down, and I sincerely hope that they are doing better now.

I finally found an archive of the whole thing about a month ago, though, and I'm glad to have it. I've already made many copies. (No such luck on the Michael Keaton series, though.)

while I'm sad it ended that was really less a comic "just stopping" before its time and more the comic about nihilistic depression was one of the rare few that did all it was intended to do and finally wrapped up at a satisfying natural conclusion, and a much better one than the one everyone expected of Basic Income Please killing Basic income Pleaseself
