For the life of me, nuts have never been appealing. They taste like some weird woody vegetable and always have the weirdest textures. I know they're basically plant embryos and you're causing a tree somewhere to have a miscarriage because you ate one, but how would the taste appeal to anyone? I know about deez nuts and like the pun. I also know that a set of nuts is usually in each guy's pants. This isn't the thread for these two: this is a thread all about tree nuts and the various kinds that exist cos I'm interested as to what is eaten and why.

At aldi they have a few kinds of Pistachios and it's really funny cause the Lime/Chilli ones are so weak-rear end that the loving sea salt/black pepper ones have more bite to them. I usually just get the regular sea salt ones.

I was allergic to tree nuts as a kid but kept eating them anyway because the taste was worth the trouble breathing and I wasn't a little bitch and now I'm not allergic anymore, except a mild reaction from pistachios and pecans. Nuts are delicious but one handful is like a big mac's worth of fat and calories.

I was gathering nuts yesterday and thought of making a Take a Hike thread but that subforum is sadly mostly dead, so everyone check it out. There's no reason to feel badly about eating tree nuts, if for your entire life you ate every nut off a tree for it's entirely life but then before you both become impotent and die you raise a single sapling for that tree indoors and then plant it in spring, you would be the hero of that tree. I don't recall the numbers, but most trees jack off nuts their entire life never to produce a single living offspring. The only animals you're really competing with or altering ecology for are squirrels and the other trees that you didn't massively force your bias on by not growing a sapling for them too. Many species of tree produce thousands of nuts for free a year, many not even eaten by the creatures o' the woods, people are afraid of black walnuts (juglans nigra?) for example, because the husk contains a mild toxin. Well don't eat the husk stupid, now you've got a natural source of fat and b vitamins laying on the ground every year. Try and list off all the ways to eat those in the woods for free that don't involve sharpening a spear or waiting six hours for a deer to pass. Also you don't have to pay the government for a license to eat nuts, cool, go try it, your other option is to pay for lovely rear end peanuts covered in salt that you hate after the second handful but buy anyway because the store and your income dictates your decisions

I love nuts, no homo, I think my favorite is pistachio, but huge fan of almonds and also cashew, and also walnuts. Can't go wrong with the humble peanut either very delicious! My fun nut story was my grandma that called Brazil nuts "n" word toes, lol it was a different time
