Hi everyone, I binged the show while at my parents' for the holidays, and have caught up today! It is very good! Seriously I love it. Also here's a shot of everyone's ethics papers from a recent episode: The best part of this gag is that Claire Danes' father-in-law is actually an ethics professor who has taught a lot about moral particularism. This goddamn show.

I think he was well cast here. The reveal at the end of "Michael and Janet" made me laugh a lot because I wasn't expecting it but he's pretty much perfect for "Janet's attempt to create a person".

And I just noticed Jason still called it "Ethnics Class"

CAPT. Rainbowbeard posted:Yes, it is. Only the current season, however. Worse still, only the most recent five episodes, which means to really catch up you have to go to NBC.com. It's a weird system that makes no sense. Clearly a Bad Place design.

My own wacky theory is this- Janet was easily stolen because the Good Place folks wanted her to be stolen, because they knew her presence would somehow introduce a certain amount of good into the Bad Place. And of course this Janet is one who has, through a series of reboots and just by having a very long uptime, evolved beyond all other Janets. She will be the key to changing everything- or making it at least somewhat better. (Michael Schur is an optimistic sort.) Heck, Janet is a benevolent, omniscient, increasingly powerful being capable of producing things from thin air. She may actually become God.

Emerson Cod posted:I think just like Jason's story about robbing a pet store with his mother who worked at the pet store, some part of this is all going to have been a dream. The problem with any "dream" twist is it does sort of say "this bit doesn't matter". It's very hard to do in a way that doesn't feel like a cheat.

Here's an interesting psuedo-theological take on the show: Are You There, God? It's Me, The Good Place
