I always wonder: what do these developers do in 3 years that they didn't do in 2? Engine upgrades? Certainly little gameplay mechanics changes. Blackout doesn't seem to account for the extra year.

Then you have to avoid animation and clipping bugs *cough*Andromeda*cough*, schedule voice actors, motion actors, design models that will only ever appear in this one game, etc.
Plus the QA, balance testing, UI, long-term dlc strategy, server stress testing, engine optimizations across three different platforms and four console SKUs...

I recall a lot of outcry after the buggy launches of BO2 and Ghosts helped convince Activision to lengthen development time. It didn't make a difference.

No I get all that but they used to do this stuff in 2 years. I can't tell the difference between any 2-year and a 3-year developed game.

Three years ago we didn't have 4k graphics with HDR.
Read the interviews and articles. Check out the GDC channel on YouTube. Creating assets in HD- especially unique, one-off assets you'll never use again is incredibly time consuming.

Been playing Infinite Warfare and the fragmentation of the player base is awful. I can't get any games with DLC maps. Why the hell are they doing this paywall maps shite yet again this year? Get with the times, son!

Player base fragmentation is irrelevant because they're slowly but surely putting their eggs into the zombies basket where it doesn't matter.
It wouldn't surprise me if they have data showing that the DLC attach rate for regular zombies players is higher than any of the other CoD mp demographics.

That could be argued for every COD. The Argus and the P06 seemed to be the two weapons in blops 3 that gave me the biggest fits and they were completely dependent upon connection.

Yeah we haven’t had a COD group in almost a month now? Or maybe I’ve missed COD nights nowadays since I’m rarely on but I still login for daily bonuses on IW and never see anyone playing anything. BLOPS4 beta is probably going to be the next get together.
