Billed as an online racing game, this is really a racing game about teaching you how to correctly play racing games. Arcade and the campaign mode has more content which is single player, but you need to be online to play any of that. I still like the chill cool factor though.

I got a wheel a week ago and I've been trying to learn how to play racing games, so I might get this just because nothing else seems to have an extensive tutorial to teach you from the ground up. So I might be the unicorn this game is actually aimed at.

I love this game. The lack of campaign or single player junk feels like Scrub-repellant, and most of the races I’ve done so far have been intense and incredibly fun - which is something I never got racing bots. Managed 2nd after starting 9th on the oval track and moved up to a B in SR last night. I’m going to have to get a wheel now. BeefsteakFatlip on PSN, add me racebros

This really feels like an inflection point for online racing in Sim style racing games. It really does create a much higher standard of online racing than you usually see and, much like everything else cribbed modern warfare's progression in fps's, every racing game should take this format of online hoppers and rankings. I know it's taken wholesale from I racing, but gt is bringing that to the mainstream, so I think that is what will cause a change.

Has anyone gotten the rooms with friends or connecting to a friend room ID to work? Was trying to get a game going with another g00n tonight and neither of us could connect to the others room, nor would our room show up when checking show rooms with friends. Both tried forwarding ports to the PS4. Any ideas, or is this A Known Issue?

I'm a little disappointed at the moment. Gotta say though, it's loving beautiful and it plays great. I've been doing everything but online play so far. The lack of car variety also something I agree with. Being able to race with and customize those weird old foreign cars is a blast to me. I'd rather have a stock rear end kei car to play with that those ultra crazy future race cars. Those are fun too, but I stand by the old "It's more fun to drive a slow car fast".

Honestly, Forza 7 scratches all the car collection itches if you want a modern day Gran Turismo classic. The AI is a bit (a lot, actually) derpy, but there's a metric crapload of cars in there. The sim model is a bit arcadey and the online racing is a shitshow, but it delivers on all other fronts.

Interestingly, my car somehow ended up showing damage / dirt in the thumbnail at the top of the screen and in the garage. It went back to normal after running another time trial, so I'm guessing it's a bug. I kinda liked it.

I can highly recommend a GIMX adapter if you want to run an unsupported wheel with GTS. I made one for about $25, programmed it with my laptop and I now have my Logitech Driving Force GT working perfectly on my PS4. The gimx guy also sells pre-made adapters if you don’t want to get your hands dirty. https://gimx.fr

Given the game's objective seems to be to help you get better at laps around a circuit I'm left looking for something that helps me really get down to brass tacks on it. Being able to watch the first-person replay of a driver who goes around a circuit faster would help. Take a track like Kyoto-Miyabi which is in the A event for the opening week. My best lap so far is a 0:47.2, but I'm matched against players who can pull off a 0:43. I'd really like to sit down and watch how they're doing it in 0:43. It's a whole ten percent so I imagine I'm not taking some tight corners the right way. Or is this in the game and I just haven't found it? Or is it just people doing that thing where they buy a better car, downgrade it through BoP and it's still the faster car? Edit: also on said track I had an online race where I was gaining on another car in the last straight of the final lap, passing them wasn't a sure thing, but they shunted me into the pit wall to block me and got a penalty so I beat them anyway. Driving challenges will help you nail a track. Edit: just tried the car +track. Turn off traction control. It pushes you wide and kills turn in. Lancer evos can be steered with the throttle a bit The End fucked around with this message at 11:50 on Oct 23, 2017 |

Bought this game yesterday and uhhhhh I love it. To me this really sets the standard for online console racing, I ran like 5 races last night and they were all great without the usual fuckery you get in most games with people ramming, swerving to block overtakes, etc. Don't get me wrong, Iracing definitely has a better driving model, but in terms of being able to just jump in and have a good race with other people this game seems unmatched.

Like qualifying laps largely dictate what position you will finish in. To maintain my safety rating I have to give up aggressive passing and allow the guy ahead of me enough room to turn without bumping. I usually end up getting ahead due to other people's mistakes. Now that I'm in C class it is a lot harder to qualify and mistakes are fewer.

Polyphony straight up ripped off iRacing's system, so having a background in that game I was pretty comfortable coming into GT Sport. Not hating on it, the system works well, but I hope PD makes some changes over time and tries to make the Sport mode into their own thing eventually. The main thing I want right now is for tracks to change every 24 hours rather then a week.

Not really possible to cover 10+ positions in 5 laps.
