This is basically gonna be the general idol thread in case no one makes the other show-specific idol threads, or they die from little discussion. Side M continues directly off of the 2011 idolm@ster anime, generally only pertaining to Jupiter's backstory. Newcomers can come in fresh though, since episode 0 basically covers that plot in broad strokes, and is also a crossover with the idolm@ster movie, in case anyone was wondering about that run-in with Haruka. New Chapter WuG returns with a new staff and art style. Season 1 started off with a fairly cynical edge (and a kinda gross episode 2, it's ok all guilty parties were punched in the face) but it developed into a fairly positive underdog story of girls becoming friends as idols as they take on the equivalent of AKB48. Worth a watch, cause they have some rad choreographed songs at the very least. Also for any newcomers, the first movie is effectively episode 0, and the season directly continues from that. Both the first movie and first season are currently on Crunchyroll. You'll have to find the 2 sequel movies elsewhere. The sequel movies aren't as good, though Beyond the Bottom is a pretty good song. It's fully self-contained and the story is surprisingly super tight. Every episode contributes something to the plot but it never feels like it's rushing you through the story either, developing every character and giving them room to breathe and be goofy. Though the Idolacalypse happened, the idolw@tch will live on as we look to the past and the future! The new hotness this season:  quote:A group of aspiring idols gather at Takanashi Productions and are entrusted with the company's future. What we're checking out from the past:   quote:At the start of the 21st century, an interplanetary war broke out. Earth's ecosystem was damaged, and humanity was forced to flee the planet. Before there was Macross Delta, there was AKB0048 as Shoji Kawamori starts delving into combat idols who also pilot giant robots. I haven't seen this either, but hopefully it'll be cool and good. And finally  I've mentioned Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live before in the past, and I still think it's a really drat good underrated show. A brief history: Pretty Rhythm is basically Aikatsu's main rhythm game competitor in the arcades. So if you've seen anything from Aikatsu, you'll be in familiar territory with how Lives are performed and how they all have various power ups and dresses. Pretty Rhythm is magical ice skating, with Rainbow Live having the gimmick of being able to summon magical instruments. Anyways, Rainbow Live is the 3rd show in the Pretty Rhythm series, but it's disconnected from the first two taking place in its own little universe, so it's a very good entry point. Pretty Rhythm got replaced by PriPara after Rainbow Live, though Rainbow Live eventually got spinoff movies focusing on its boys, till now anyways since there was just an announcement about a new Pretty Rhythm series in the works. Anyways, Rainbow Live is a drat good show where you start off thinking everyone is shallow, and then the show digs deeper and you learn everyone is good, all the girls and the boys (except the villain, he's a piece of poo poo).
