Eberle and Tavares together are great. Josh Ho-Sang is also great. Maybe don't let him fester on 4th line minutes as a direct plug-in replacement for Clutterbuck. Just wish the Islanders could figure out any sort of defense, but maybe that will come as the season progresses. Defense is always sloppy at the start. Know who else is sloppy? The Rangers. Great job coming back from 5-1 to tie it, but then the third happened. I was half paying attention to both of these games, but I'm guessing giving the puck away in your own zone as your team is skating up ice isn't a good look. Also Free Chytil. Let the dude play.

If someone wants to curl a finger on the monkey paw firing AV just to get some shittacular replacement, gently caress it, I'm sure Jack Capuano could still rent out Garth Snow's basement if he's gonna come back to NY. E: Vigneault's system and deployment might not be ideal. I don't think there is an available coach that would do better with the roster long term. So yeah, if you get some cumulative GSAA over a decade, the guys playing longer are gonna look better. But here's a chart of three years of 5v5 GSAA/60, colored to show fenwick shots against. Carey good, while facing slightly fewer shots? Lundqvist right there while facing a lot of shots, it seems. Maybe he's overrated. Can't even be the best like Carey.
