Ok that last one is a little relatable

I also still can't get over the stream where everyone was pranking Hing about the Bille Eilish story, and his reaction to Naomi trying to call him 20 times in a row was "hang on, she might be in trouble, i'd better message her boyfriend and make sure she's ok"

And I'm still lol'ing at Mark's deadpan response of something like "yeah it started raining really hard and she said she went under a big tree, I haven't heard from her in a bit but I'm sure it's fine"

Oh huh!
Their patreon is at >3000usd/mo, which means they've hit the 'Weekly episodes during the season!'- tier.
Unless they start doing twice-monthly shows, I imagine that just means that they'll be rolling out stream/beefbabes/streamcampaign2 episodes to the podcast weekly.

Yeah I'm guessing they created that incentive before they knew that they were going to start a weekly side campaign on twitch. I feel like a weekly podcast (based on a live show that they have to book and promote) on top of a weekly twitch stream is a bit much to ask at that level of patreon reward but if they actually end up doing it then that's great. I still haven't caught up on beef babes, but from what I understand, that campaign is over now, so I guess the start of a new one would be the time to find a way to work it into the main feed.

Fray

When they crossed the threshold a few months ago, Dave posted on facebook the extra episodes would likely be streams. He thinks two nights a month would probably be too much for their live audience.

Dave said on one od his streams that they're probably ending beef babes. I cant remember the details tho.

I think he also followed it up with him saying he probably shouldnt have said that yet

Nah he's been pretty clear and open about what's happening with it. They ended the campaign because they want the streams to be more accessible for people to just jump in at will instead of having to watch hundreds of hours of content in order and keep track of a hundred story threads. So whatever they replace it with will be a lot more episodic to facilitate that. He does seem to want to come back to the characters at some point but it'll presumably be in shorter arcs.

SubNat

Yeah, and I got the feeling Beef Babes was supposed to be a 1-year arc thing, but then, in true Dragon Friends fashion, they spent more time getting sidetracked than ontracked.
During the finale he was pretty explicit in that Beef Babes was finished, but they might come back to it later. The next stream campaign is going to start at level 1.

It would be pretty rad if they managed to run with new campaigns yearly to keep it accessible, since that is still like 20-40 episodes worth, depending on how regularly they stream.
(I still wish they'd try out other systems for oneshots and mini-campaigns etc, but as it's been mentioned in the past, most of the players don't really understand or engage with the mechanics.
I think Dave, Jordan, and Edan are the only ones that could really handle suddenly working with a different system, barring stuff like 1-page RPGs without getting turned around. )

Has there been any mention of when the Show might be hitting? I imagine that's taking up a lot of time and resources.

I'm still catching up on their Patreon content, but that's too bad that they're starting at level 1. I'd love to see how badly the idiots would do with high level characters having zero understanding of what the game is.

I did enjoy Guy Montgomery's "pick a spell out of the deck at random" approach to playing wizard when he guested on the show. Which IIRC led to him casting invisibility on a pair of high-challenge rating monsters (i want to say ogres or something)

Also the regular twitch stream is rolling up next week: The Gribbitz Detective Agency.
https://twitter.com/drgnfrnds/status/1359464630951714816
That is a very neat approach, a pretty big cast they can just keep rotating in and out as people get busy with other stuff.
I wonder if that also means that they'll have rolling, different DMs depending on the party? Both Dave and Ben have characters, after all.

Caught up to this over Christmas during long sessions of TW:Warhammer 2, excited to check out the new season. I feel like the setup is gonna work a lot nicer since it much more easily allows for mixing long-form campaign content and self-contained one-off (or two-off given the group's usual pacing I guess) adventures. I loved Beef Babes but it was a little unfortunate that it somehow felt even more like 'one epic quest' than Dragonfriends did, where going off and doing some random activity/quest didn't feel very natural.

Ainsley McTree
Feb 19, 2004

Yeah I'm enjoying the beef babes, but I've been following it very very slowly, and I've absolutely lost the thread of what the plot of the campaign is or who most of the NPCs are a while ago. It's still fun to watch/listen for the goofs, which are ample, but I look forward to seeing if the new format works a bit better with twitch's drop in/drop out nature.

e: With the Gribbits Detective Agency they aim to have everyone DM at some point. (With the exception of Hing.)
I wonder if that also extends to the rarer guests.

e2: Dave claims it'll be weekly 'for the rest of the year', meaning like 80+ episodes probably. Seems like he'll be fastlining them to youtube a few days after recording, but I dunno when they'll propagate to the podcast.
(It'll go out to patrons on moday. )

This was an extremely funny stream, but it must be noted that Ben & Hing have real "kids who aren't allowed to sit near each other in class or else none of the children will get to learn anything" energy

I enjoyed it because it's the kind of chaos that I love dragon friends for, but very little progress was made in this adventure and the two of them are responsible for about 99% of that

I know half the Shtick is that they don't play D&D well but in binging the Patreon feed the number of times that Philage doesn't get half damage while in a rage or the fact that I don't think Alex knows what Lay on Hands is makes for difficult listening sometimes.

Season 7 starts with more player characters than usual in an unfamiliar new location, just after the stream sessions and main show meet up for the first time. I think it would be fairly hard to follow as a new listener.

The first season is really fun and finds its groove surprisingly quickly.
