The negative speed force shooting lightning at Barry, missing and then starting a teeny tiny fire in a trash can that it hit sums up this finale well. At least it has a good message, Jesse got to sing and we didn't have any shock deaths or anything. It was... Fine. Representative of a show that really needed to end.

Her recent exposure to the negative speed force crystals meant that it was, in fact, imperative that she come into contact with her younger self.

Everyone else who got crystal touched and then didn't subsequently come into contact with their time displaced selves is hosed, sorry I don't make the rules.

Why did Savitar go down like a chump? Where were the legends? What exactly are the goals of the negative speed force and how will it come to a compromise with the speed force?

I’m so glad they got all of these season long baddies together in the last episode of the show so they could last five minutes.

That’s how a boss rush is supposed to work, it’s right there in the name.

Jokes aside this really, really, needed to be a 90 min finale. Or change the pacing a bit I guess so that more of the big final fight happened last episode - for a 4 parter the first 3 parts were kinda flabby, and they wasted so much time in the middle chunk of the season between this arc and the red death. They clearly wanted to do the big final showdown and the whole 20 min extended goodbye to everyone thing and a standard length episode really isn’t long enough.

I do kinda appreciate the ultimate big bad of the show being talked down with a pep talk though. That’s basically the essence of what this show has become.

edit: I know they can’t use an actual newborn for obvious reasons but that is the most ridiculously oversized baby I’ve ever seen, that kid must be like 12 months old.

They kinda had a couple - Wally West and the voice of (or another actor, since I can't remember his voice) Professor Stein.

But Sara would have been great but I guess they are still in time jail or whatever since the show was never finished.

All the NPCs will look up and shout, "Do this quest!"
and I'll whisper, "Sure, why not."
And thus the Arrowverse died.

Not with a quiver.

But in a Flash.

I assume nobody told Nora who Savitar actually was or else I don't think she would have so glibly stabbed him.

I did think it was hilarious how in the big boss battle fight Mark did absolutely nothing. Just another example of how useless his character was.

They really botched this season. I don’t understand why they went with any of the plots. Should have closed out Arrowverse shows properly. Lol at not being able to get Cisco back.

RIP Arrowverse. You are dead bc Covid caused Superman and Lois to be their own universe.

I've put up with questionable romances in the ArrowVerse but the Chester/Allegra stuff really was some of the absolute worst they've done. Part of it was definitely the speed that they moved at, going from flirtation to one true undying love stuff in only a few episodes. I think the other part is that like many other character plots from this season they were just filling time. Primarily due to Grant and Candice just being utterly done and thusly having limits on the time they had to film with them.

I read in an interview that Grant got Covid during filming the finale plot arc; which is why he was often off on his own.

Not being able to throw anything together with Cisco is completely ridiculous. They knew going in that this was the final season they could have filmed something with him.

Seasons Three through Seven of Legends owned hard. They had the occasional poo poo episode, and one lovely finale, but they were pretty loving fun and the actors clearly had a ball. Great stuff.

I don't think anything else quite compared, though I've really only dipped in and out of the shows after Arrow Season Two.

Their 100th episode was probably the best out of any of the Arrowverse shows.

There was an interview where it was explained that it absolutely could not have happened, he’s filming something else and I’m guessing Covid protocols and filming schedules made it outright impossible to overlap. I would have loved a little video screen message or something, it feels like they could have at least done that and avoided any kind of issues.

Meh finale overall. Chillblaine sucks so bad, I was hoping Zoom would kill him just for the shock value.

The interview was it couldn’t happen for the last episode. I’m shocked they didn’t figure that out earlier and either schedule him for an earlier episode or film a short zoom video message.

Creepy little garbage eaters

I get the feeling that both season 9 being declared the last and the shorter episode count kind of blindsided the writers Eric Wallace just laid out what his plans were for seasons 9 and 10. So I suspect they were scrambling to fit 40'ish episodes of ideas into a 13 episode sack and well it was weirdly paced as a result.

Even so of the planned Arrowverse final seasons it was maybe the second or third best? Depending on if Stargirl counts. Arrow obviously was the best, Supergirl's was equally weird and misshapen due to Covid/Melissa's availability, and Black Lightning I stopped watching after the failed back door pilot for Painkiller

Avery Ho, who is another version of the Flash, Max Mercury, and Jesse Quick.

Just speedsters from the comics that never got into the show.

You're thinking of Eliza Harmon aka Trajectory. Jesse Quick's costume was a blatant reuse of the Trajectory costume. Jesse was erased from existence along with Harry Wells during Crisis when the old multiverse was destroyed.

Oh, Jesse, I def remember her from both show and comics. I think my brain was still struggling with the first two so I missed her name, lol. Thanks!

Honestly, I stopped paying super close attention to the show when they just started handing out speed force or meta abilities to everyone. What's so special about The Flash when there's like a dozen speedsters running around?

That made the throwaway "Chuck has black hole powers" scene laughably stupid. Just, why? The show is ending, what was the point except, "oh, well we gave everyone else powers"? Sure, give those CCs baristas Eddie was threatening powers too, blame it on being in such close proximity to his lightspeed saber.

He kinda did have black hole related powers in his first appearance. I guess they never said he was a full-on meta, but for a time he clearly was 'powered', so I felt they were just trying to remember.

The whole arc with Khione is the big mystery for me. I guess since Frost/Icicle had elemental powers too, maybe Khione's just meant to be that taken to an extreme?

WhyteRyce

The entire Khione thing was manufactured so she could inspire Barry to have a talk and the speed force and negative speed force could come to a happy compromise about…uh…which timelines get which big belly burgers???
