ios devices have standard usb-c but there is no low-level access to the interface unless you have mfi - meaning you can't write a driver if you don't have mfi your 2 options for using usb-c are for your device to act as a ethernet over usb adapter (generally good enough for most cases) or mass storage device. you cannot make use of the simple ftdi chips for serial over usb which is really annoying and usually means you need a full blown linux in your device instead of a cheap microcontroller source: the company i work for has spent 2 years trying to find a way around this

we charge all our poo poo (with cables) in a closet outside the bedoom. two benefits: -invisible, who cares how it looks -keeps tablets and phones out of the bedroom, as god intended

does anyone know of a usb hub with one pd in and one additional usb c?

qirex posted:does anyone know of a usb hub with one pd in and one additional usb c? on amazon there's lots of cheap ones from stupidly named ODMs and i have a couple of those, i'm sure you'll notice that they all have very similar designs too. if you're interested i can dig up the specific ones i have, but i haven't noticed a difference between them really and i'm pretty sure they're not all the same "brand" (but really, likely the same ODM). they all work and were less than $50 incidentally the only one i've found that doesn't work with my ipad is a dell one thats shaped like and is about the size of a hockey puck. real bad hub, on the poo poo it actually does work with it's only usb 2.0, so beware of that

yeah i didn't time it or anything but it took probably over an hour to install on the se3. it seems pretty good though, it's not too different from 16 except feeling quite a bit faster

put 17 on my ipad air 5th gen. update process was much much faster and it also seems snappier not much different again of course, but i'm noticing pop-up spelling suggestions and safari's favorites bar has favicons now. i'm not sure if i like that lol, i got used to them not being there so far a lot of the keyboard lag seems gone too? my snap take is that its a good os update e: jeez this seems really fast. forums pages are snappy as poo poo Beeftweeter fucked around with this message at 18:43 on Sep 18, 2023 |

how are you installing 17 to your iPad? Are you just opting into betas? iOS 17 is the only one out right now right?

there's really not much new i've noticed so far and afaik ios 16 will still get some security updates. when there's a really major one it definitely will anyway, sometimes those go a few versions back even
