If you had bought goods headphones instead of airpods, you probably wouldn't need to charge them all the time on long trips. And wouldn't need to bring a "charging case" in addition to a power adpater. Also, the cable in between is a great feature as it means it's easy to quickly put them down in order to talk to someone without having to fumble around and store them somewhere.

So they're still at 100% if you don't use them, that's a great point. But yes, the charging case is a reasonable idea. It's just that everything else about the airpods seems bad.

The good reason: Tim's margins. Also, what does "this is an appliance" even mean. People want user-upgradeable RAM in order to not pay the outrages prices Apple charges for RAM.
