i got a samsung galaxy chomebook pro or whatever the gently caress its called (mine's silver but they're commonly orange) honestly i got it because it was $480ish down from nearly $2k and it has a 13" 4k OLED, but like a week afterwards the trackpad started going loving bonkers and i couldn't figure out why so i finally cracked it open the other day and welp, turns out it was shorting itself after it would heat up because some conductive tape got unstuck. gj samsung now i know why it was so cheap. some more tape fixed that and it's okay for now i guess

So the dock pops up and immediately covers the last thing I was looking at in my terminal or whatever. Then, when I move the mouse towards the bottom of my Macbook's screen to try and make the dock goes back there, it sometimes takes two or three attempts. dont rotate it like that. -Steve

Rufus Ping posted:yeah it's only happened once lately and it resyncs with the off/on button for me but this also power cycles the built in usb hub which is a pain lol you're lucky yours power cycles, on the dell i have connected to my old mbp if it loses the handshake it's basically impossible to tell if the loving thing is actually on or off since the backlight stays off and the status led resets to off, but the actual display seems to still power on since the usb hub works still.

Internaut! posted:do any creative types here use an iPad with Pencil to control Photoshop or ZBrush with Sidecar? they're gonna let me swap my license from Windows to Mac, I'd be interested to know how good or bad the experience is compared to a Cintiq Pro my wife does, mostly with illustrator. she hates sidecar though and eventually went back to her wacom thing i tried it myself with photoshop and i can see why. it's hard as poo poo to use keyboard shortcuts at the same time and the crap ui doesn't help

Internaut! posted:why would I want a smaller screen when I can get a larger one? because big laptops are unwieldy and you can get a 13 or 14" with 4K? she does have a rather large wacom with several buttons but iirc it's pretty old. i was referring to using keyboard shortcuts on the ipad when using sidecar and an apple pencil: it predictably sucks. using the apple pencil with actual ios apps is great though. i moonlight as a pro photographer and use pixelmator/pixelmator photo with it and it makes edits super easy to do accurately
