It is, as you apparently have surmised, very very arcadey. There is some energy management to do and you can stall for a bit. Also altitude performance is a thing. Like, if there's a bomber flying around waaaay up high, you're not gonna get to them in some dinky biplane. Different planes do handle very differently and feel varied, which I guess is the most important thing to have.

Anyways here's me punking on some Blenheims (plus some other stuff) in a different Blenheim. Dunno why I had my GeForce Experience set to only save the last 5 minutes, but oh well. It does start pretty much around the time when I decided "Man, gently caress these bombers" so hey it worked out.

Another point to make is that both the NPC AA and planes are murderous. An NPC Beaufighter [best plane] behind you will ruin your day and if you stray into a zone and all the AA focus you, you will die very quickly.

A lot of heavy fighters also have a rear gunner. Beaufighter [best plane] has a turret with as many machine guns as a lot of fighters, it will gently caress you up if you stay in it's cone of fire. Plus you can press T and take over the turret yourself and then it's even more deadly.

Apparently it's possible to tie if both teams capture the zones at the exact same second. For XP purposes it's treated like both teams lost, because of course it is.

Once you're confident in your aim you can get so many players who think they're safe once they get outside 600 meters!

The XFL-1 is hilarious, I didn't check the loadout before taking it for a spin and found myself blatting the poo poo out of everything with what turned out to be a 37mm cannon

e: Also finding myself in a predicament I haven't had in a WG game for ages - not enough empty slots.

You will gain XP toward more Skill Points, but the specialization for the plane you took him out of is locked. Premiums do give 20% more XP, so you could get a fully skilled pilot before getting him to 100% in a non-premium plane.

The other thing to note, is that until a Pilot is 100% proficient in a plane, their Skill Point training is frozen. Putting them in Premiums gets around this.

I've mined a bit of salt which is always pleasing.

Some guy said "kill yourself" after I shot his Hayabusa down for the third time in the round but the most interesting was someone who told me "I dont need you piss" when he went down in flames. Maybe that wasn't aimed at me and was a scathing indictment of piss-tape shenanigans.

The mission to destroy five neutral ground targets was an absolute bitch, but otherwise these missions have been really nice. Or would have been, if the one for 75 gold wasn't bugged and impossible to progress.

Spitfire is great. In my first game with it stock I managed to get the Grade I Fighter achievement. Team still lost the round though.

The reward Blenheim bomber from the loot crates...

Four games, first 3 losses with me top score in each then a win and top score again. It's WoWP's equivalent of arty or CVs, I just drop bombs on the first target my team goes to, boost up to 3000m then just cruise around capping stuff. Four bombs will destroy any position in a base and your bombs respawn so fast that if you bomb the first thing in the base, you will almost manage three drops before you get to the far edge. Take out the large flak guns first, the 88 looking ones and you are basically just cruising about risk free as no one even tries to chase you.

I do admit to feeling slightly dirty doing this but you make mad creds and exp so gently caress it.

Also I have watched some videos and have seen reload timers on bombs, anyone know how I get it to show or if it's a mod?

The bomber is fun and chill gameplay. Feels like a single player game where you pop red or white dots :shobon:

You can get 5 or 6 crates daily if you buy the tokens. As WoWP uses WoT gold I had quite a bit stored up, [which I was never going to use again] so got the Blenheim in about a week.

Yeah, bombers are a little bit bullshit right now. One climbs up to like 3k or more, and your team doesn't happen to have any heavy fighters with good altitude performance? Welp congrats, he's literally untouchable. I tried to catch an A26 with my Beaufighter and was literally unable to climb high enough to reach him properly. Sure, the Beau has a really bad altitude score compared to other heavies of the tier, but I think it's a bit poo poo that bombers can just go full skygod with zero repercussion, just on the whim of the MM.

This definitely changes in the higher tiers (they can still run away REALLY well), the tier 3 bomber is functionally immortal though.

I have been shot down once and that was a Bf110 C-6 with the 1050m range 30mm cannon and I had been shot to poo poo by AA beforehand so, yeah, you are pretty untouchable if you pay attention.

If you edit the keybinding in the menu, you can change it to a toggle rather than having to keep the button held down.

This doesn't actually help if you're in a bomber, since for some reason the alternate view hides the icons for individual parts of ground targets, so you just see a bunch of giant vague squares.

For heavy fighter equipment I went for an Engine Tuning and some of the added toughness stuff. The latter probably isn't a good idea for regular fighters, they'll still be eggshells anyway.

I mean, there is some thought behind the design. One side gets two cap points that don't do anything special, the other gets only one, but it's the one that calls in bomber raids. Now whether it works or not could be debated, but there is a reason to that.

One thing I like about this game is that the coolest WW2 aircraft are all in the Tier V-VII range, so probably not that terrible a grind, vs. having to get up all the way to Tier 9 for a Fletcher or Iowa. 1950s jets are neat in their own way, but nothing brings back the "I'm 10 again" feeling like the P-47, P-51, ME109, or Spitfire. +1/-1 MM is also really nice.

Yeah, I get that that is the idea behind it. It's a sound idea in principle, but the point is, it does not bloody well work. Firstly, the bombers are so slow they do not make up for the south team's head start at all, and secondly the attackers need to fly all the way across the map when they die whereas the defenders can just spawn right back into action. We actually managed to cap the airbase briefly, but the enemy just instantly furballed all over it and capped it right back. It was a complete shitshow.

I've won more games from the north than the south but part of it hinges on the COMPLETELY RANDOM (why?) direction the bombers pick to go in

If they go towards the garrison first you can swing around and take the airfield from there but if they go towards the airfield first you'll never take the airfield while the enemy grabs the command center out from under you

DurosKlav
Jun 13, 2003

Enter your name pilot!

The rocket base version of that is the worse. You have no real defense against the rockets, and they fire so often that its easy to flip one of the defenders cap points. Once you lose that first cap point its all over because you can never get it back because by the time its recap immunity is up your other cap point is already being pummeled and you have to fight your rear end off to defend it.

Died a couple times, but the game was just full of :black101: as hell moments where I just tore poo poo up like an angry god, quickly finishing off near-dead enemies in turret view mid-maneuver, and just general awesome arcade action nonsense. I wish this game had replays.
