Lol thanks for this article... and there's many more laughs to come I reckon.

I wonder what scams the citizens of Blockchain City will pull on each other. Anyone moving there had better hire an extra moving van and driver for hauling the thousands of Amazon gift vouchers and any other needs they can't buy locally. Your coinhaver postman will either be keeping everyone's mail or auctioning it off to the highest bidder.

Also bring guns, and lots of ammunition.

And of course it has a demonstrated history of instability, and could crash anytime at the whims of the global crypto-profiteers.

Governments will become very sick of all the tax evasion, and start passing laws requiring the presentaion of ID to cash out cryptocurrencies. As each government in turn makes public announcements of their intent to legislate this, then does so, there'll be mass selloffs, crypto prices will tank more and more, and miners will start to drop out.

Meaning longer transaction times, so fewer people using crypto to buy stuff. This and the other problems mentioned here will result in prices spiralling down over a period of months or years.

An increasing percentage of holders will be darkweb buyers amd sellers of drugs, weapons and child porn, or true believers prepared to deal with huge sacks of gift vouchers and getting regularly ripped off, sure that crypto prices will again go up Up UP! any day soon.

Oh, and one exchange after another will be bled dry, hacked, mismanaged, money stolen by the owners or fold from a run on cashing out.

It's only a matter of time. :)

The mining-electricty consumption issue is on it's way to being solved! Researchers have created a bionic mushroom that's capable of generating it's own electricity by hosting a special bacteria:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/11/09/bionic-mushroom-researchers-create-fungus-generates-electricity/1941145002/

All the miners have to do is put skylights over their mining operation rooms and let the sunshine beam in, touching the thousands of mushrooms growing around the mining rigs, all powering the equipment.

Checkmate again, FUD-sters!

From the linked article:

"Although the mushroom isn't strong enough to power a device, researchers say several of them could build up enough electrical current to light up an LED."

One LED. Yes, that's the carbon emissions problem solved for sure, no worries. Of course, bitcoin miners already use solar power anyway because they're so environmentally responsible.

I wonder if any bitcoin true believer anywhere in the world is honest enough to admit that they don't give a flying gently caress about anyone or anything but their try-to-get-rich-quick-&-gently caress-you agenda.
