No, he was pretty much a conspiracy theorist from the beginning. Sleazy is just Brett Gelman's default mode

Here’s something I’m finding dumb about episode 5. Sorry if it’s been posted, but the spoiler tags in this thread seem to mostly assume you’ve seen the whole season so I’m missing a lot of the thread until I finish.

Will is basically printing a thousand sheets of paper with the exact same thing on it. Give the stack to 500 different people and you’d end up with 500 different maps. Adding a tape measure to find exact coordinates after a third party tapes it together poorly just makes it more ridiculous.

They weren't identical. They even show Joyce and Mike matching up pieces because of the way one drawing ended and another one began. And they didn't have exact coordinates. They made a big deal about that, with even Will using his link to direct them.

I was glad that it turned out that Max was just a regular girl. Kind of thought that it would be revealed that she was like 11

Yeah it was setup that on a normal day he was forgetful but you'd think during the apocalypse he'd think about her safety. Hell he should think that she'd be useful in the fight.

Especially for a man who had lost his daughter, you'd think he'd be more protective.

The other thing I thought was a bit clunky was El's antagonism toward Max, lack of explanation except for implied jealousy (maybe she's seeing Max through Mike's distrustful eyes via his radio reports, or influenced by her diet of 80s TV or something, but we're not really shown that), and lack of resolution.

El saw them together. Saw Mike enjoying her company.

But we also know El is not exactly able to fully rationalize and understand her feelings.

Watching the first episode. the scene with (not a spoiler) the KFC front and center in the shot was really distracting and obvious. Did they even say “KFC” in the 80s? “Finger-lickin good” made me cringe

Yep. And “Finger-lickin good” was totally KFC's motto.

Where does the Nancy/Dustin thing come from?

One of the very scenes of season one is Dustin going up to Nancy's room to try to give her the rest of the gang's pizza. It was quite obvious that he has a crush on her, and I'm sure Nancy noticed it too.

What if the Ep 7 storyline had been revealed as a flashback? As if, after escaping the Upside Down, and finding that agents at Mike's house, Eleven had ended up being drawn to Eight. The city stuff could have had a longer time frame (6 months), and still have El back in town for the rest of the year to live in the cabin

Spreading it out would have made it more palatable, I think. However, the style of the city segment is really different from the rest of the show. Just switching from one to the other wouldn't really work, visually.

It's set in the 80's. Maybe they could have had El do some sort of "Secret of my Success" thing

Oh yea, just thought of something else about the tape recorder.

Exactly what kind of recording spy device do you think teenagers could get their hands on in the mid 80s? The Walkman was released only 5 years previously and still cost more than Jonathan's car.

This wasn't a time where everyone walked around with video recording devices in their pockets.

I had a cassette player in 85. It did not cost the price of a car
