B&V has hit peak retro in Austin v Rock full swing, the sheer joy of Austin and Rock and McMahon is not changed in retrospect - they were just that loving good. Everything around them sucks, which is a theme in that this will never happen again and thats ok but stop trying to make this happen again. Between this and the NWA shows its the best shows. How Kurt didn't win the WON rookie of the year award in 1999 (Blitzkrieg did) is lifes biggest mystery. Edit: just realised in the entire history of the rookie awards only two WWE wrestlers have ever been rookies of the year - Chad Gable and Tom Zenk in 1984 and Zenk tied for that award with some no name guy called Keiichi Yamada who no one has heard that name of since 1984. (Brock should've won over Bob Sapp) Lid fucked around with this message at 01:15 on Nov 16, 2017 |

Good Listener posted:Listening to Saturday's observer like...I really do not agree with much of what Dave says about Randy Orton staying on top when he's literally one of those "boss's choice" boys for years. His obsession with drawing during that particular era as the defining feature or Orton to be a HoF just elicits question marks from me. When I think of WWF or WCW Hall of Famers the standard more than drawing is memories. Lets take Ted DiBiase who was already in the HoF in 1996 - maybe people only partly watched wrestling but everyone beyond remembered The Million Dollar Man, legendary manager and self-promoter and laugh. Bryan on an utterly unrelated topic years ago when talking about Randy Savage talked about how before Savage died when people would find out he was a wrestler they would ask him "you remember the Macho Man?" because he was more than a draw, he was an iconic entity. It's by this standard why i'm more forgiving of Sting too because Sting is, ironically, the icon. Orton... no one is going to be "you guys remember the Randy Orton?" When you look back at the ruthless aggression/PG era Orton was always in the main events but no one is like "oh man that Orton". He stands waaaaaaaay behind John Cena, and even Batista and no one even talks about Batista as a HoF. Edge even is remembered more with his Rated R run, him being with Vicky Guerrero. But it all comes back to house show draws, ratings and workrate for Dave on Orton and everyone else looking at Dave saying "you're wrong".

El Gallinero Gros posted:In hindsight, I'm kind of surprised WCW or TNA never had a situation like the one that happened in ECW where someone got injured by fire/incompetence/lack of planning in such a way that they got sued. I'm actually REALLY surprised TNA has never been sued by fans at all (that I know of). Most of the people involved with the Junkyard Invitational could've successfully sued.

PaybackJack posted:Hyperbole. It's bad but it only lasts for 2 minutes and has a worthwhile post match pay off. Jenna/Sharmell is like 6-7 minutes long bell to bell and there is no pay off. Coming back to this but it is funny there are levels of the worst match ever, where the standard is Sharmell vs Jenna and things are graded on that scale. There was some Lucha Libre USA match that at the time they said was worse in every way than Sharmell/Jenna and they never even remember it exists, but they do remember Rebel v Shelley and sometimes Bushwhackers/Ivan Shiek. Fake edit: oh god i found the match https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxPEnbjADgk&t=1110s Mascarita Dorada & Octagoncito vs Pequeno Halloween & Tigresa Caliente (Rhaka Khan) real edit: noones monitoring Rhaka Khan's wikipedia quote:She returned again in the second season not with Chi Chi, but with Mini Park's ex-wife.
