The only reason Miller was even in Underwater recently was because that was filmed in like 2015 and then didn’t see release for like four years. He is one of the rare MeToo’d people who I feel confident in saying is 100% done. If it was just the misconduct allegations he would’ve survived but that train incident tanked him instantly.

There was a guy, married to the mother of a teenage girl, and sorta all of a sudden he started making inappropriate comments to the daughter after living with her for years and never causing any concern, mom left with her daughter and he was later arrested for child pornography. He eventually had enough health problems in prison they did a brain scan, found a brain tumor, removed it and then he claimed he no longer had any attraction to young girls. He eventually got released and there was no sign of any sort of recidivism.

This sounds super familiar, but I don't think I've ever heard of this specific story. I think they semi-based an episode of Law & Order off of him.

No you remembered right. There was an SVU where a female principal was raping a boy in her school and it turned out she had a tumor and removing it got rid of the urges. There's a bit of a "twist" where they think it didn't take because she goes after the boy again but it's tell him she's pregnant.

To be fair, what haven't they based an episode of L&O off of?

I recently watched the Netflix doc "A Murder Among Mormons" and thought it was like an episode of L&O: CI (guest starring Stephen Colbert as the killer!), and when I went to the trivia portion of that ep, yep, it was based off that case.

He ain’t mediocre, I saw him live in a 950 seat venue that’s terrible for comedy and he had complete control over the whole place the whole time. I’ve seen much more famous comics in much better places that did not deliver the way he did.

Granted, this was at the top of his confidence & fame, but again, he is NOT mediocre. At least as a live comic.

I think Lindsay Bluth decides to run for president or something. I stopped after season 4 was absolute garbage. I had to go back and rewatch some of season 1 to make sure I wasn't going insane. I laughed more in the first 15 minutes of episode 1 than I did the entire new season. It didn't help that Ron Howard wouldn't just shut the gently caress up.

S4 and S5 have their moments and I’ve really grown to love S4’s original time skip edits, I enjoy S5 for what it is (the end of a 20 year long saga about The Bluths that I followed for my entire life).

The original run of S4 also has the single most elaborate racist joke, possibly in the history of TV itself, and it’s still kinda making me laugh 10 years later. It was trying to do something different and I was like one of the 10% of people who liked it.

Isn't a big part of S4 and S5 that they couldn't get everyone in the room together? At the time, they talked about how busy everyone was but I have to wonder if some of it wasn't related to the social dynamics as well. All the same, that chemistry between people is so important in a show like that and it's doomed to fail without it.

Can't speak to S5 as I didn't watch but yeah S4 famously didn't get everyone together so it largely shot around them and had some awful green screen use. I think there's a scene that has like 5 of the cast together in the same room and it's pretty much the only time they could manage it. Not to mention the extended runtime. I get that making 22 minute episodes for network TV felt like a pain as they were having to cut stuff, but then having seemingly no limitations at all made them forget that the show's rhythm is a by-product of the limited run time.

Sure, S4 eventually comes together at the end, but it's not worth sitting through most of S4 to get to.

There's a bit at the end of the Mormon doc where they reenact a moment from the killer's childhood where he started out forging/altering pennies to make them appear rare and it reminded me of a plot point from the Colbert ep of L & O: CI, and when it looked up the trivia about that ep, it specifically mentioned the subject of "A Murder Among Mormons."

It's actually a good piece of insight into how Joss Whedon worked. Alan Tudyk may have been 100% honest that he'd never been treated badly by Whedon or seen it, because chronic abusers like that know to pick their targets and keep the friendly mask up around people they can't bully.

I think Whedon was probably nice to Tudyk and hid his behavior and Tudyk never worked with the people making accusations. Anthony Head has said both he 100% believes his castmates and feels bad he didn't know about it when it was happening.

Oh, absolutely. I'm sure Tudyk was treated well and was legitimately surprised to hear about the accusations. And I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that once he heard about the other incidents he may have changed his tune.
