I'm still waiting for someone to present a coherent explanation of why it's more likely that Jussie Smollett staged a hate crime against himself to... get revenge on his bosses?... than that he was the victim of a hate crime and the CPD are just mad incompetent and racist.

I find it really funny that there were all these leaks about how he was totally faking and full of poo poo, then the FBI took over like all the 'yea, get his rear end' people wanted, the leaks died except for a couple like, oh, 'the CPD overstated its case' and 'actually he may not have faked the letter' and 'in the grand jury the brothers testified that he did indeed pay them for physical training and that's why the only checks he actually wrote for them had his video project's name in the memo line and all'.

I don't think there's some secret Real Chud who actually did it, I think the brothers rolled him wearing hats and talking poo poo as a cover, he reported what happened, and the CPD went nuts trying to prove the mean black guy who doesn't like Trump lied.

The idea that this entire case hinges on testimony at the actual 46th hour from the two guys who probably did try to gently caress him up, that it was an elaborate hoax he paid for in check because he...wanted a raise...is so insane that I can't believe anyone believes it coming from the Chicago 'we literally got busted torturing people woops' PD.

yea it's entirely possible that Blanket went through his life genuinely believing 'oh, no those guys talking about that stuff are just making poo poo up about my dad' and that was his first moment of 'ooooh gently caress no dad was probably horrible'. It's really a little ghoulish to start speculating if someone was molested based on just social media.

I haven't seen the doc, but this is actually a good point. I believed the Christine Blasey Ford testimony because she was doing it live, unedited and had everything to lose by coming forward and speaking out against a powerful man in a room full of powerful men. An edited documentary is a different beast altogether, I mean I'm not saying these men are lying but... it wouldn't be hard to do retakes and edits to push the narrative the director wants to push.

I mean, what do they have to gain, especially with him dead now? Are any suing his estate? Do you think they stand to make enough to offset the trauma and roughness of speaking out like this?

yea he's proven he's perfectly skilled at keeping his victims quiet as is without needing to do a murder of a major public figure who's super publicly tied to him. Kelly's a psycho who seems to have just been rapin and pissin his way through the last couple decades, but I think murder is a big jump there.

If he's completely innocent, why are they keeping his bond money unless it was a plea deal, but apparently it's not?

Because our hellass world is one where cops can actually just keep whatever they want and they knew a rich actor would probably be ok with them keeping his bond because it lets them save some face and muddy the waters.

The prosecutor abandoning a case they already got grand jury indictments for screams 'something very wrong happened here', that's not a thing that happens, even in cases they think they don't have solid enough grounds for. This only happens if they 100% know if something comes up in court they'll get the case destroyed and face a worse black eye than this clusterfuck would make.

like said it's not just about 'does this picture get me hard', 300 is not a film shot for titillation of women, it's a power fantasy for men, and the bodies involved are part of that. I mean if your point is just 'male gaze is likely the wrong specific word for this' then yea I probably agree but the bodies in 300 are part of the same kind of psychosexual stuff that 'make the super hero lady's outfit sexy so the cute boyman can be flustered by how hot she is' does.

Isn't the meat and potatoes of the court case about who abused who? Great, the dude likes whiskey and coke, and I don't mean a mixed drink. Who gives a gently caress? I'm sure he's a fuckup, I'm certain he'd be a pain in the rear end to live with, but you don't get to abuse people who piss you off or frustrate you.

And, I mean, accusing someone who you abused of having substance abuse problems and saying you're the real victim... hmmm, where have I seen that before recently?

I thought this was a libel case against a tabloid? Obviously I agree 'he's an addict' does not counter 'she abused me' but I think the strategy may be to say 'calling him abusive was fair, look what an addicted piece of poo poo he was around me do you really think he acted like a prince when he was that high?'. If it is a libel case I believe they just have to prove there was reasonable reason to believe what they were saying was truthful and not some plot to hurt his reputation.

yeeea it's a bit reductive to call Freddy's OG story 'false rape accusations' on its own. The framing of it was VERY much a reference to satanic panic where basically the irony of vigilante justice to protect kids wound up literally cursing them instead was very much the point. It really didn't matter if Freddy was a diddler or not (he was, I don't recall any movie outright framing him as innocent but rather a very in character 'well...I didn't rape THAT kid no...' kinda 'denial'), the point was that the town weren't actually acting in the interest of their kids when they decided the solution to 'that guy's a creep' was 'firebomb his creep shack'. It was a very obvious reference to a real thing and not 'poor innocent white guy'.

https://twitter.com/stories_nice/status/1373830403446951940

and heres an accusation that, while vague, has ntohing to do with that subreddit or the original accusation

Yea people are tripping over themselves to play the 'wow yet another lying bitch trying to hurt an innocent man' game while ignoring that 'also I think he was talking with her when she was underage and poo poo and that's hosed' was just kinda one part of an overall 'this guy loves loving his fans who are like 20 years younger than him by getting all flirty and cute with them like it's a relationship and then ghosting them as soon as he gets his dick wet'. Like, it's not a literal felony no but it's a really skeevy way to behave when such a huge chunk of your fanbase is straight up kids and all. Like, if you found out some dude who had a kid's TV show back when we were kids liked loving women decades younger than him who were fans of him and who he treated like they were in a relationship until he got what he wanted, you'd go 'well that's a lovely way to treat people', right, even if it is good he's not diddling kids?

But Dan's a soft boy who makes funny dick jokes so people just make these wild rear end defenses like 'so see all the accusations were from these racists who just hate Dan...well okay nobody actually accused him of loving kids but he DIDN'T, so there'.

Also for context on that last tweet, that lady was literally Dan's personal assistant so if she's still saying 'nah gently caress this guy' I trust that source.
