Have one of my favorite pieces of fanwork ever, Sega Fantasy VI. It's incredibly well done for something made like...13ish years ago I think? It's quite long, as it goes through the entire finale of Final Fantasy VI, but with video game consoles replacing the characters of FFVI. Umaro being the original XBOX is pretty great. Shitloads of little references all over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5FqRzUlXsg&hd=1

eureka seven is really good(the whole show + movie is available on crunchyroll, though don't watch the movie until you've seen the show). it's got its hiccups, sure, but overall it was an incredible, super memorable show about literal sky-surfing(and robots who also sky-surf), post-apocalyptic earth, and a bunch of goofy, lovable characters. It also had Gulliver, this weird little critter with bugged out eyes that was awesome.

I don't know if it's actually fanart or not, but it reminds me of Parrot-Man from Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer, so I CHOOSE to believe it is fanart of him without his "cape"

Yeah, I very much like the blizzard schtick, at least initially, of flip-flopping fantasy race stereotypes. Instead of savage labyrinth-stalking beasts, warcraft minotaurs are druidic in nature and temperament. Orcs are shamanistic hunters rather than ramshackle looters(until they were CORRUPTED to be that way). Instead of mindless shamblers, warcraft undead are super smart assholes. Instead of lofty high society, warcraft high elves are heroin addicts with the patina of sophistication barely hiding it, etc shame the storylines all wind up being CORRUPTION CORRUPTION CORRUPTION inevitably though. Not fanart, per se, though music is an artform. Johnny Atma just did the best track from Shovel Knight(The Fateful Return): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWECAP8kVA8&hd=1 And he recently did a really, really good cover of Undyne's themes, as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hevhe5_qbKQ&hd=1

As someone making his way through the adventure zone and just finished the crystal kingdom arc, all the fanart rules and I wish there were better animated shorts that were longer than 10 seconds. God drat the adventure zone is so good. Once I'm done with that I'll probably hop over to Friends At the Table, I hear that one's good too, though probably not as good as TAZ. Taako is easily the best character so far, in every way, the way he's acted totally sells the character's attitude and aloofness cosnsistently.

Is it "what if batman was set in feudal japan" or "batman dudes are sent back in time to feudal japan" because that'd be some serious back to the future shenanigans to not gently caress up history. Either is possible, iirc there's a series about a modern battleship that is sent back in time to WW2 and has to decide whether to alter history or not, dunno if it's any good though. Think the name is Zipang or something.

Anthropomorphized Undertale characters is a thing, since of course it is. I mean, if they can anthropomorphize warships, they can do it to anything. I can really appreciate a far disproportionate amount of effort vs how useful or good something is. Making an entire mechanical, light-up, and timed contraption for a youtube poop-level gag is grand. edit: this is not necessarily fanart(though some kinda are), per se, but I need to post it somewhere, to...share the experience, with others. http://vetscounteagles.org/ Captain Invictus has a new favorite as of 21:21 on Dec 7, 2017 |

There's a fella who's done a LOT of these extremely well-done, almost players-guide-level "pages" of an Undertale guide(I think), it definitely gives me a similar feeling to the Earthbound players guide with some of the pages. The text is obviously not in english but the imagery is easy enough to understand anyways, and it's charming as hell as it carries on through about a third of the game. Plus their standalone images outside of those are really good too. This imgur gallery unfortunately is out of order, for some reason when mass-uploading it doesn't take the sort of the images in the folder but just kinda randomly uploads them out of order. Still, one of my favorite artists I've found who did a lot of Undertale stuff. They also did most of these before Undertale was ever translated into Japanese, which is neat. I'm not entirely sure what the specific artstyle is called when it's clearly drawn on a computer and has visible pixely lines, very few colors involved(lots of their drawings have like, 12 colors or so total), yet are still highly detailed, almost animation cel-esque, etc. Here's their Pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=1887194 and some examples:
