I just had a burg at the Paris Air Show because that place had the shortest line. It had some sort of a cheese sauce on it, lettuce and tomato. The inside was served warmed through but otherwise blue rare. I don't know if that's the style here or they just foisted a quarter done burg on the fat american guy. Tasted fine though.

I probably won't die. Well, unless I become patient zero for a new outbreak of creutzfeldt-jakob. Then it was nice knowing y'all.

Yeah temps in France are well below their equivalents in the US. “Bleu (blue lol)” is basically raw, “saignant (bloody)” is seared and barely warmed through, “à point (on point)” is rare, “bien cuit (well done” is what you think but with a pink inside. The elusive “medium-rare” is hard to nail down but “à point” will get you closest.

Yeah, it's exactly what you thought it was. Serviceable burg, nothing all that special.

And thanks for the French info. I didn't dive too hard into learning much of the language before coming here for work because I wasn't even 50% sure I was going to be able to make the trip, but here I am. I thought my OK spanish would help, but not really. I'll plan on diving into French on duolingo for the next couple years before I gotta come back so I feel like less of a dick, even though the people here are super accommodating and best I can tell no one has spit at my feet and called me "un couchon americane" or whatever. I had zero expectations, but it's nice to see that the stereotype of the snooty Parisian wasn't applicable for me specifically in this part of the 'burbs, at least.

Overall, the food was dope and over delivered as all my meals were less than 30 euro and I would have paid twice that for some of them.

"Ricain," "amerloque," and "amerlo" are the standard "yank" insults in France. In my experience ricain (short for "Américain" and sounds kind of like "ree-cuh") is more friendly. Amerloque and amerlo are less so. But generally if someone is directly calling you that, either to your face or in earshot like you can't understand, it's probably at least somewhat derogatory. Just laugh and say "va t'faire voir chez les grecs."

I've been ripping through those Costco frozen 1/3lb sirloin burgers. Super easy to make a burg whenever without needed to go get fresh beef. Not terrible either.

These were a summer grilling staple in college. I lived in various apartments with 6+ buddies and throwing half a sleeve of these bad boys on the grill made for easy drunk stony burger times.

Also I went to shake shack for the first time. Made the mistake of only getting a single, but it was a pretty good burg.

I have a problem. I make a burg with full intention of taking a picture and sharing it here.

But when I complete the burger my hands move on their own and immediately stuff it in my mouth.

It happens every time. Smash burger, grill burger, cheese, bacon...doesn’t matter. I can’t help myself.

Am I wrong? Should I resist these carnal urges and take a picture to share with strangers on the internet?

Or is this normal? I don’t think I can control it.
