I personally take a hard stance on plagiarism, if you're too lazy to type (not mine) after an image you didn't make then you are not welcome on the front page. This has been basic forums ettiquite for like twenty years so there's no excuse.

this is the first day in a couple i am able to use my brain effectively and sit at my computer for any amount of time. the flu is a blast. so i'm going to go back through the thread and do some internet detective-ing of the image, and we'll figure out what the deal is. it is incredibly obvious Photoshop threads are for your own creations, but maybe it needs to be stated outright. there are new posters, and posters not used to GBS. still, this is basic poo poo. secondly, if i get confirmation i think next phriday will be a combo of the merge media/what should i do with minion joker. the merge media subs are of a super high quality, but that means there isn't enough of them for a full article. there is some pretty amazing work in the minion joker thread if you haven't seen it and i think if we do both of these we'll have enough for a mostly full paged article, but if not i don't mind. quality over quantity.

Update: I have heard from Cough Drop the Beat, who was very cooperative and I believe understands the severity of what we're talking about. I've encouraged them to post their own account of the issue first-hand here, at their availability.

As I discussed in PMs with BoldFrankensteinMir: I fully understand the allegations and why it's a huge issue from your perspective. I blame my co-worker who reads the front page all the time and told me to make that Photoshop. I thought the text and concept was really hilarious when he told me... but it's pretty obvious he just told me to copy a funny edit he saw on Facebook or whatever. I'm very sorry about it and I will take a lifetime ban from Photoshop Phridays because I am a dumbass who took inspiration and unknowingly plagiarized from a work friend. Good luck with future Photoshop Phridays!

Thank you, CDTP. I'll ammend the article tonight. I'm still going to feature the image, it's just gonna be the last page entry, and we'll talk about what happened because it's an interesting case. I agree that a ban is not appropriate. Just understand that if you do post 'shops there's going to be extra scrutiny on you for a while. But don't let that stop you from posting. Galaxander, thank you also for bringing this up. I hope we've resolved the issue.

Thanks all. I'm glad to see Cough Drop the Beat won't be excluded from future Phridays. Not having a non-original image in an article was my only concern, and it seems pretty clear they are a reasonable and non-malicious poster.

Yeah, I think it works, knowing what a treasure trove will be in part II. Heather Papps had to convince me to block it out like this, I didn't fully get what they were going for at first. But it's clever. I wish SASBI or whatever would save the drat page breaks though, I've tried fixing it twice now.
