I'm up to Chapter 3 and I'm really enjoying the look of the game as well as the collecting blades stuff. My first rare was Perun and it's taken me FOREVER to learn how to unlock her Level 2 stuff. It's a shame I can't actually do it yet. I don't get why hers is so weird but everyone else feels more normal.
It's also cool that Rex is from Bolton and Nia is Welsh! Not as much of a fan of Pyra having a generic American accent but you can't win them all.

And I loving hate all the easy bossfights that then act as though I lost. God drat, why does it do that? It makes the fight feel pointless. I've wasted like 10 minutes fighting Malos or whatever and then a 30 minute cutscene tells me "Actually, you lost".

Someone earlier said there's an easy way to get the map. What is it other than "Press X, scroll to the location you're in, scroll to the part of that location, look there"? Because it's the worst part of the UI to me and I just want to look at where to go since the compass is absolutely worthless.

Ugh. XCX made it a pain to leave the map and now they're making it a pain to get to it. Surely in playtesting the testers were going onto the thing constantly to check where to go? I don't get why they have to make it such a huge struggle!

And XC1 did have some boss battles where it does what this does but I didn't feel it was every single time. Here, unless it's some generic monster, it's every single fight so far.

The point I think is that bosses are challenging and for a lesser player who might die a few times to them, the time where they win with barely any health might have a fixed cinematic like that make more sense. Plus, its super anime and its an anime cliche.

I just wish it was a bit less often.

I dunno if anyone knows the answer to this but I'm going to ask anyway.
I'd been only using rare cores if I can spend four boosters at least on it, because the times I've done it I've had rare blades. But I don't know now if that was just a coincidence or not.

Does getting up your truth, justice and etc just change the chances of certain elements and that's it? Or are certain rare blades (eg: Perun, which loads of people seem to get) increased chances because they're Ice and there aren't generic ones with Ice?

Poppi speeding in with the Tora for the drill combo was fantastic and it's bullcrap it didn't work but at least they get to pull moves in a cutscene, which is more justice then Riki ever got.

I'm still unclear as to why the legendary Blade is called the Aegis but I assume they'll explain that irony at some point. Finally the motherfucker running around referring to everything in stage terms calling drat near anything a cliche has sand dragging balls.

It annoyed me that the cutscene went on for so long though. Maybe let me play as Vandham fighting them with some buffs until I inevitably lose or get told I've lost? I dunno. Especially since I'd not used him even once so it felt a bit weird.

Apparently it's called the Aegis because in the JP version it's called the Grail and that's their translation. It won't get explained other than that!

I really don't get the insistence on concealing the identities of the fourth and fifth party members just because people treated references to a party member that way in Xenoblade Chronicles. There's some very big story reasons to hide Seven's identity when referring to them in the original game, with XC2 it amounts to about zero surprise given their outfits scream either "recurring antagonist" or "party member" and both join relatively early on.

But at that point you're only able to have two blades and Dromach is always a healer, so she must have been HLR/TNK. Which is how I fought it and it was fine!

And I've been playing for twenty hours and haven't seen the other party members. So please don't spoil it, they're not revealed early and I'd rather not know, at least!

The AI doesn't feel like it gives half a poo poo about chaining up elements. I've often started a Water one that requires another water and found that Nia's switched over to Ice or whatever.
It actually feels entirely random!

Now I've read about Truth/Justice/Compassion/Bravery I've seen that they have little elements floating around them when you choose the boosters so I guess they do influence the element. But all three of the rare blades I've had from "common" cores have come from increasing one of those four stats above 8. Which is maybe coincidence? I wish I knew for sure.
Justice seems to be dark/light and I thought normal blades couldn't have that!

The game outright states that Luck affects it. Equip Luck accessories and maybe a blade (or blades) with a chip that boosts luck by 50? I forget what weapon type gets that boost from the gem(?) chips though. Maybe fists? When I went 2 for 5 on rare blades for the 4th party member I also used 5 boosters on every blade. Once you're in chapter 4 and can get the 3rd tier cannister you'll be swimming in boosters if you salvage for a bit. Especially if you get the one shop deed that gives +10 to your max booster count so that you can hold 15 of each type. I didn't have any luck boosting stuff on the 4th party member though when they had their run of crazy luck.

It'd be nice if it was actually clear though. Do 5 points of luck increase the percentage chance of a rare blade from 10 to 11? Something like that would be good.

Just let me keep doing it!

Also I'm finding the compass super annoying. I wait until the red/blue square is central in it and then walk in that direction. But sometimes it's central even when the thing you're after is over to your right or left. During Chapter 4 (I think?) I was on some rooftops trying to follow a mechanical blade and they leaped over a fence. So I spent ages on top of the buildings trying to drop over it because that's where the thingy showed and getting the actual map up takes loads of clicks so I thought "I'll just use the compass".
Turns out I didn't need to do that at all and I wasted loving ages just running about.

Just keep throwing Crystals down and using the boosters, you'll get one even with commons eventually.

I find that it's best to specialise because of that reason. However your teammates seem more likely to switch if it's an element that's needed in the current combo. So if you want Nia to keep healing and your tank blade on her is Electric then don't use combos that lead to electric because she'll switch to it.
