Has anyone actually ever bought something that was "American" and actually felt like they got their money's worth? I look at cars and maybe dodge is alright but I'm always going to get better value buying foreign. It's not like these japanese companies are paying their engineers any less than American ones, and when it comes down to actually manufacturing something everything is built abroad and put together locally anyways. Yet american cars and electronics and other poo poo always suck? Dell computers are crap that always break down. They're all over priced and cheap. It always seems like companies on wallstreet that are publically own always sell lovely over priced poo poo that's better for investors than consumers. The only time I ever felt like I got my money's worth was buying poo poo from small and medium businesses that at least have some skin in the game to make something decent. Big box retail, malls, cars, computers, anything "American" are quickly dying.

Everything made in America falls apart and breaks really fast because American workers can't match the quality standards of Chinese children.

i'm an AMERICAN working in an AMERICAN factory and everything is put together like poo poo because it's built by people stuck in a windowless shithole for 84 to 112 hours a week who all realize that you don't get paid extra for giving a gently caress

Buying American isn't a thing anymore. Regarding companies that is. An American company, like car companies, make all of their poo poo in Mexico. You'd have to follow a long line of what part is made where to actually consider it American. You have to look at where it's actually made to determine if you're actually "buying American" and supporting US jobs and that sort of thing. American companies outsource everything, especially service jobs.

i tried to find running shoes that were made in america. i specifically looked for this poo poo. you can't find it. you're pretty much limited to a couple lines of New Balance where the cheapest variant is $150. Even though NB advertises as "Made in America" only about a quarter of their shoes are actually made in the US, and they're the really expensive ones. 98% of shoes come from overseas.

Guitars made in America tend to be pretty good. Violins and other classical instruments too. Instruments in general. Beer made in America is good stuff.

There's a Toyota plant where they build RAV4's like a hour from where I live here in Canada. And they build Chevys in Mexico. Not everything is cut and dry as it used to be.

I have a nice cotton bandana that had the 'Made in America' symbol on the end, and it's about 40 years old. I also have a nice set of luggage that was made in Korea and it's about 60 years old. Well-made things are good.

Honestly our Chevy work vehicles are decent enough. That being said Fords, especially Ford Transits are loving garbage. Poorly built, expensive, and the door sensors malfunction so you can't even lock the loving things. Hell from what I've heard some of the models even had issues with doors coming open mid trip.

I try not to give a poo poo where something is made generally BUT I grew up in Michigan in the 90s and you can bet your rear end that all domestic cars seem like hot loving garbage to me. Now though I've added 'they don't make things like they used to' so now I exclusively buy and drive Japanese Imports from the 80s/90s because I'm vain as all hell. I do have a Dell XPS 13 like those other goons though and it's been excellent.

Toyota marketed hiluxes in north america until 1994, when they switched to tacomas. Now I need to find a low mileage good condition 1994 Toyota hilux extracab.
