He'd certainly spent enough on upgrades. He deserved it, and they were, as the game put it, KRUSHING the competition. "Come on, come on you fuckers," he yelled into the microphone of the VR helmet. "Come at me!" Suddenly, the helmet was snatched from his head, wrenching his skull at an awkward angle by the cord that'd been shoved into the input port installed at the top of his spine. "Hey, what gives!" The humanoid robot looked at him with glowing red eyes. It opened its mouth and out came his father's voice. "Ted, you lazy excuse for a son! I give you a good job at the family business and you're not even feeding the cat? I got a letter from the eggheads from Research and they say you've been ignoring all their requests. Fix it, or I'm cutting your allowance." It closed its mouth. "End of recording," it said in much more pleasant tones. "Fine. Fine, I'll take care of it," Thaddeus said with an annoyed scowl. "Go on, scram. You're done here." He shooed the android out of his office and pulled the helmet back onto his head. Without him, his team had already lost, but he could barely make out the notice because all the minimized requests in his viewer had been opened, spreading across the entire screen in a huge, cluttered mess.
