Time for us to team up and make a cool rpgmaker game to put on steam then.

I'm not gonna fault someone for enjoying or not enjoying sexualized characters in a video game but I like when the games I'm playing don't go down that route because to me it feels like a cheap copout a good portion of the time, like they didn't have enough faith in their characters to stand out on their own so they needed to give them a sexualized outfit to go along with it.

I'm also fine with the devs just saying something like "we wanted to make a sexy lady/sexy man" because it's always lame as gently caress when someone makes something that is obviously sexualized and tries to hide it behind some lovely reasoning like "it's part of her backstory, you just don't understand"

Skies of Arcadia was pretty good in regards to characters having interesting outfits that didn't rely heavily on oversexualizing its characters (though everything about Vigoro is very phallic, but that's pretty clearly on purpose and is meant to make him come across as more of a scumbag because there isn't a single about him that doesn't read "this guy is a massive prick")

"i wanted to make a sexy waifu with the tiddies" is hardly better but at least it's honest i suppose

Eh. I don't have a problem with people liking t&a, fictional or not, as long as they're not boasting anything illegal with it.

It's why my opinion on stuff like Senran Kagura is while at least the dev's honest that no matter what some fans claim, he made the games because he wanted to see anime tits jiggling around in 3D on the 3DS, I still think he's gross because he decided the characters should be high schoolers. I think being honest about your likes does have its merits since at the very least you're not trying to cover it up or act like you're ashamed or whatever.

Boobs and genitals are cool and it is okay to like them and nobody should have to be ashamed of that. Being honest with yourself and your peers is good, though of course being too honest is not good but that is an easily drawn line because, let's take the senran kagura devs and the bayonetta devs for example, there's an obvious line between "I made a character who is sexy and gets naked and kicks rear end" irt bayonetta and "I made a character who is sexy and gets naked and kicks rear end and also crosses various cultural and societal lines" irt senran kagura.

I don't really know how I got on to any of these topics of conversation so feel free to do what I'd do in any of your shoes and just scroll past this post lol

gently caress yeah

Hey just some quick advice though, there's a special move that I don't know if it is permanently missable but it is certainly annoying to get if you don't know about it until late in the game, you need to get snaps of every single card in the game iirc (if I'm wrong and someone else knows the requirements, please correct me).

However, you also need snaps for trading for other snaps so there are plenty of times where you'll need to be taking multiple pictures of the same enemy. I think there are guides that have it written down how many snaps you'll need of the enemies and bosses so hopefully you can figure it out. That is, assuming you'd find the reward to be worth it. I never did it because by the time I found out about the reward, I was past a point where I don't think I would have been able to unlock it, but the reward sounds neat enough.

Any of you remember that old flash fmv game where you were at a convenience store and had to type stuff at the owner and he'd do stuff and occasionally you'd type the right thing and he'd give you a pringles can?

I found a few mentions of it, it's called nevashut, but near as I can tell there aren't any places hosting the game anymore and all that exists are screenshots, no videos. What a shame.

Some people just wanna get all the things and don't like to find out that they've been locked out of getting all the things due to something completely random, something locked behind a high/tedious ceiling, or something missable that you'd have no reason to go check for in the first place.

That's one of my issues with the first shadow hearts game. It is entirely possible to miss out on being able to get the good ending as well as all of the bonus stuff related to getting the good ending. Did you answer some questions wrong during a segment where one of your characters is getting tortured by the villain? You're not gonna get access to a side dungeon then that explains a little about what happens to one of the side antagonists that otherwise seems to just disappear from the plot. Did you go to the penultimate dungeon and complete it rather than enter it and immediately leave? Well I hope you enjoy missing out on getting the good ending. Did you forget to pick up a porno magazine in China at a tower that gets blown up? Well, you can't return, so you can't get the ultimate fusion ability for the main character now.

It was pretty lovely. I'm not a fan of things in games becoming permanently missable, even though some of my favorite games are filled with that kinda stuff (like FF9)

The extra blades are almost completely random.

You get some set blades as quest rewards and all the party members have their own unique blade they start with but other than that it’s random.

It's a goshapon with different quality of drops. Like you get common cores with a 1%* of ending up as a rare Blade, or uncommon cores, or rare cores with a 70%* chance of ending up as a rare.

Or you could just use the starter cores for each character and largely ignore the system because whatever.

*Made up numbers, I have no idea what the actual %s are.

Is there something in place to keep people from just savescumming, because I feel like that system could be pretty easily (albeit tediously) gamed.

I'd rather have Ziggy tho even though I don't think Ziggy has ever been good. I just like him the most.

I still need to finish XB1 and XBX but I'm sure I'll enjoy XB2 even if the gachapon stuff is a weird way to handle it.

Can you end up with multiples of the same blade through the blade creation system thing?

Whoah I didn't know that came out. Cool. I only know about Ultraman, Godzilla, and Evangelion being licensed for it so idk what else is in it.

Internet Kraken posted:

That sounds cool as a premise but the immediate problem I see is that there's only so many ways you can actually evade a massive, giant monster. I'm not sure how a game entirely based around that would keep its gameplay fresh. Unless you actually progress to fighting the monsters yourself in the vein of Shadow of the Colossus.

Sakurazuka posted:

Sadly City Shrouded in Shadow is exactly what it sounds like, there's nothing else to the game other than running around and occasionally avoiding an obstacle while cooler stuff goes on in the background.

That's all Disaster Report games are though. You're a regular civilian trying to survive a disaster movie. It's just that the disaster in the case of City Shrouded in Shadow is "Kaiju Fights" rather than "Manmade Earthquake" or "Manmade Tsunami" or "Manmade Fire Cyclones"

They are fun and cheesy and good.

IMO sexualized imagery can definitely be an artistic statement.

It's just really really obvious when it's not, generally when the person behind the design has to explain it and it's pretty clear that it's just a bad excuse.

Yeah, basically imagine the difference between a showing someone a picture of a room and then taking them to the room the picture was taken in. The room takes a lot more to set up than the picture does.
