i've been meandering my way through the witcher 3 because i only have so much time to play video games, i'd been holding off on doing kaer morhen for like 2 weeks because it seemed like that was the end of the game

nope apparently there's still a whole day's worth of content after that. i wish it had been more clear about how much story was left.

Are you doing the DLCs because they easily add an extra 40-50 hours to the game.

Both of them are also fantastic.

I bought the expansion pass and tried to start it but I was way too weak for the fights which is what prompted me to head through to the end of the main storyline yeah

I mostly play it when my girlfriend is home because she likes watching so I'm sure I'll be done in 2019

Blood and Wine should be done after the end of the main quest

I really wanted to like it too. I had some problems with the writing too but it's definitely the combat that made me not enjoy it.

Fortunately Divinity Original Sin 2 was great and actually had fun combat.

You're right

But my problem with Pillars is that despite the combat being shoddy the writing is fun and I want to read more of it, but the easiest possible mode doesn't remove combat, just makes it trivial. Which means I still have to sit through it. :sigh:

I would definitely have enjoyed pillars with a no-combat mode since combat definitely isn't why I play those games in the first place.

Endless trash battles have always been a bad idea in any rpg.

You summon a lot of random units to fill out your party and that one is one of the uniques you can summon.

How does the blade creation system in xenoblade 2 work? Is it completely random or is it something where you can control what you get out of it?

The extra blades are almost completely random.

You get some set blades as quest rewards and all the party members have their own unique blade they start with but other than that it’s random.

I expect them to make a Xenoblade mobile gacha game. Xenoblade 2's blade system feels like a test run. It has gacha mechanics and guest artists.

Many successful gacha mobile actually have niche licences/IPs. They make money off older players who now have jobs and are still fond of the IP. Games with large casts lend themselves well to gacha RPGs.

Why would they need to test run mobile gacha mechanics on a console title when there are already a billion similar games out there? Nintendo already made one too!

A lot of the blade designs, sexy or not, don't make any kind of sense because they weren't designed to actually fit into the setting. The guest artists just did whatever they wanted and it was put into the game. So you end up with stuff like a little girl that runs around with a polar bear in a setting where polar bears don't exist.

To be fair they specifically made the story in a way where they don't need to make sense
