Bone To Be Wild is the worst episode. A yawner of a monster of the week, and it falls right in the middle of a great arc breaking up episodes.

Not even close. It's a filler episode, but it at least has a coherent story.

If you want the worst, just go right to Meltdown, or Taking the Stone.

I like your style hombre, but this is no laughing matter. Assault on a police officer. Theft of police property. Illegal possession of a firearm. FIVE counts of attempted murder. That comes to... 29 dollars and 40 cents. Cash, cheque, or credit card?

I, E.T. is one of the worst episodes, its the second episode and instead of being a space adventure they just go to some planet that doesn't know about space travel or something.

Though perhaps I'm the only one.

Twice Shy is pretty eh. And I'm not a fan of The Flax either.

I liked I, E.T. I think it also had a lot of narrative work to do, giving the audience more time with Crichton and setting up his alienation that would run through the first season.

The worst part about I, E.T. is that it drags on for ages with minimal and terrible music. The editing and score are almost completely different from every other episode.

The music at the beginning of the first season is real bad.

Browder and Black should really have had better post-Farscape careers. Most of Claudia's IMDB page is video game voice-over work...

Season 4, episodes 11-13 "Unrealized Reality" / "Kansas" / "Terra Firma"

Part 1 is the strongest of the three, but that could be a personal preference as I just can't get enough of mysterious aliens ominously dispensing cryptic warnings and exposition in a minimalist dreamscape or other theatrical/artistic fashion (probably partly why I love Babylon 5 so much). Swapping the whole cast around was legit trippy; Claudia was such a good Chiana that at first I almost couldn't tell the difference, but they all did a good job and that must have been a blast for all of the actors.

Oh yeah, I forgot Rygel and Noranti going through the Earth food. I usually just smile or "heh" a bit with the humor on this show, but when Noranti reads the popcorn label and calls it "Cop porn" I lol'd.

Season 4, episode 15 "Mental as Anything"

Wow. Powerful episode for D'Argo. A lot of these have a similar feel to them as Babylon 5, a bit more refined at times due to being made a few years after, but this is another one that could've easily fit into that show, both stylistically and thematically.

I was figuring Macton was just part of the training and not really there, like they were already in the simulation as we join them in progress, but it's better this way.

Also he reminded me a lot of Gary Oldman.

A lot of actors tend to prefer voice over jobs because it means they can show up to work in sweatpants.

Season 4, episode 17 "A Constellation of Doubt"

This episode is so much like an ISN episode of B5, it hurts. Even has a B5-esque title.

So, at this point it seems like Crichton's going to what, jump back into that unrealized reality where all the characters are remixed, to talk to Sikozu-Stark and find out where Katratzi is? I'm not even sure Lexx was ever this insane, and they literally destroyed their home universe, accidentally. Ok, when I put it that way Lexx still wins.

Just a little bit of sunshine!
Claudia Black was also in Pitch Black, where they completely failed to take advantage of the nominal synergy and gave her like two lines before killing her off as soon as the monsters showed up.

That was pre-Farscape though.

John Quixote rules because the plot device is exactly what I can imagine Stark cooking up during a manic-->depressive transition phase.

Also, Unrealized Reality is great, and Kansas is great fun, but Terra Firma packs the biggest kick for me. Crichton's finally home after years of waiting and longing... and he doesn't allow himself an emotional response to it beyond 'irritation'. Also, "Merry frelling Christmas" is my second-favourite one-liner in the entire show, after "No pilot muerta [bubble, bloop]"

In Lexx they discovered planets that were literally heaven and hell and blew them up. And they were right near Earth - which they also visited - where a psychotic cannibal had been reincarnated as a real estate agent and unexpectedly made pope.

I know. I need to watch that show again. The president in season 4 was the best character, even though seasons 3 and 4 were quite a bit weaker. That's another one I haven't seen since it aired, but I still remember him.

Farscape is still saner, because it's playing by pre-established rules to get there; John's been to that alternate dimension once already, so he can recognise the wormhole signature necessary to get there a second time.

Lexx just popped acid and threw poo poo at the wall to see what'd stick. And then try to gleefully gently caress what did.

Directly? I'm not sure. I think Mike only had like 3-5 though; Lexx has got to have more than that even without taking the destruction of the Light Zone universe into account.

Never watched Lexx (beyond maybe 10 minutes or so on sci-fi in the early years), but reading the summaries on wikipedia (that don't do the show any favors) it seems Lexx was a weapon designed to destroy planets and more.

Mike was a fry cook / temp worker.

So Mike's work has to be considered more impressive.

Winifred Madgers
Feb 12, 2002

Lexx is definitely more than the sum of its parts; it's hard to boil it down into an ad or Wikipedia summary without losing its essence, which is why I always ignored it. The ads gave the impression it was just softcore masquerading as sci-fi... up until the musical episode, for which the ads intrigued me sufficiently somehow to watch it, and then it proceeded to blow my mind with Kai's awesome backstory and the doomed-universe plot (and I thought the music and singing were good too, apart from Xev, lol).

I'm looking for a flock of urbanmechs.

I watched a few episodes of Lexx, but I never really got into it. I think my main issue was with the despicable janitor guy; I know him being awful is part of the show's dark humor and allowed a lot of the episode conflicts to happen, but I still think I would have liked Lexx better if he wasn't in it.
