Heading out for a morning coffee this weekend, walking towards my first pokestop of the day, knowing that it'll complete my 7 day streak. Check my inventory, I'm right on the bag limit, so I'll spin this stop, get the reward, also get a new field research task, and then be over limit for a bit. Also realise I'm right on the cusp of hitting level 38, "Great!" I think, I'll be super over my bag limit when it gives me that stuff, but I can be pretty reckless with items for a while to spend those free ultra balls and berries. I approach the stop, just about to tap it, when suddenly "YourPal291" received 2 items from your gift! "You and YourPal291 are now Great Friends! Here's 10,000 XP!" "Oh poo poo you're level 38 now! Here's a ton of items to put you 50 over your item limit!!!!"  Proceed to immediately dumping all those extra items so I can spin the stop and get my needed streak bonus and research task

I found a Shuppet nest yesterday and finally got the rest of the ghosts I needed to pass the Mew challenge, then finallly evolved the Magikarp/Gyrados I'd been hanging on to for the last three months. A couple of steps closer to Mew! To celebrate, I put my 100% IV Shuckle into my local gym. He lasted about 3 hours! I'm now just the regionals (Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan), Mew and the Dragonite family away from completing the Gen 1 Pokedex. I could use a couple of overseas traders to help with the regionals. I have lots of Tauros. If anyone needs Diglett, I have those too, they spawn like commons where I live 9351 6119 4817

Articuno day happened to coincide with me attending the local comiccon downtown, so I joined a raid train (just spot the guy dressed as Ash  ) and hit a bunch of gyms in that area. Now have an ex-raid pass for one of the raids, but as it happens it's at 5:30pm which is doable. It's just normally a time I'd be going to a real gym is all...

Actual effort post: if you don't have any friends that play, try hitting up discord to see if someone is willing to do it for you(a lot of discords even make a sub section for each ex raid so you can ask in there if anyone has a second device that can do it for you). You can link your account to a dummy fb so you're not having to give them your Google account info.

I have some newbie questions. Google has some of these answers, but much of the info seems like old SEO-optimized crap that doesn't get insightful past "level up n here's a early 2017 rarity map ripped from Reddit" 1) How do I get rarer and better Pokémon? I'm level 13 or so with a bunch of random terrible Pokémon from rural/suburban Washington state. I have a few Eevees which I plan to evolve according to meta and a vulpix. As of now, there are frequent raids nearby, but I have basically no idea how to approach those or even gyms in general (which seem to be full of 2000-3000 cp metamon) with my 500-775 cp Pokémon. This is a Dumb Vague question but I'd like to hear some musings. 2) What are generations? Ie Gen 2 Gen 3 Pokémon. 3) Any Pokémon to watch out for in Sweden? I'm going there in mid August. If this is all obvious on https://www.pokemonbackgroundinfo.com let me know.

If you want good rares, pray. 2) Check your Pokedex. Kanto = Gen 1 Johto = Gen 2 Hoenn = Gen 3 3) Mr Mime and Volbeat are regionals you cant get in North America. Solrock and Zangoose if you dont have them yet.

I care about more than completing my pokedex (not even a goal of mine) , I just want to figure out how to catch more than mostly rattatas, caterpies, and other common forest critters. 2) thanks. 3) I'll keep an eye out for them. Wait until you're at a much higher level when a targeted evolution will be more useful. Find your local Pokemon go discord channel and try to get in on some raids (let them know you're not high enough level to do any real damage yet though). The Pokemon you catch from those will be level 20 (or 25 if their type matches the current weather) and some of them like Tyranitar, weather boosted Machamp and most legendaries (although not the one that's out right now) will be around 2000 cp and will basically let you jump right into battling gyms. Once a month Niantic ups the spawn rate on one specific rare Pokemon for three hours. It's always at the same time of day and always on the weekend. They usually announce well ahead of time when it will be using the in game news feature. Most common method is that a town has their own Discord server for Pokemon Go, and people alert each other of raids and if there's interest to do it. And unless your local players are really mean, most people would be happy to help you out even if you can't contribute too much to raids yet. The only trouble with being too low level happens if the group is unsure they have enough people to beat a raid; it would be a courtesy to let them know you're lower leveled so they don't think "Oh okay, the bare minimum needed to beat this raid is 6 people and we just have 6 people," but when in reality you can't put out the damage like a level 25+ player can. Other ways to get better Pokemon besides being lucky and running into them are to hatch eggs or complete quests. Any Pokemon you get from raids/hatching/quests will have at least 66.6% IVs or better. Each Pokemon's IVs has attack/defense/stamina, with values 0-15. Pokemon gotten from raids/hatching/quests have a minimum value of 10 and won't be worse than that. Therefore you have a better chance of getting a high IV value or even 100% IV Pokemon through these methods. 2. Generations just mean which Pokemon came out with each wave of the mainstream games. Gen 1 are from Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow that came out in 1996, the first 151 Pokemon. Gen 2 are from Pokemon Silver/Gold/Crystal which came out in 1999, the next 100 Pokemon in numbers. And so on, and so on. We're up to Gen 7 with Pokemon Sun/Moon that came out in 2016, but Pokemon Go currently only has Pokemon up to gen 3. On average, a new gen's Pokemon are released every year and usually a few at a time according to Niantic's whims. 3. Mr. Mime. Catch as many of those as possible. People will always want those everywhere else in the world. Also answering to what you just posted, no, eggs from Europe won't give you Mr. Mime or region exclusives. They're just plain not in the possible Pokemon that can hatch from eggs.
