Went on a hike today. These little birbs are fearless due to people feeding them. E: I'm pretty sure they're gray jays. its all nice on rice has a new favorite as of 22:19 on May 31, 2021 |

Going to agree that birds don't really care about being misgendered. They only want one thing and it's cheesy: https://twitter.com/ProBirdRights/status/1399802633385254913?s=20

Saw some new birds in our backyard over the past few days. White-crowned sparrow and a red winged blackbird. Thought the sparrow was a nuthatch, but the beak and coloring didn't match. The merlin app is great for identifying birds. Wasn't able to to get a picture of either, so here are ones from GIS.

First time I've seen an American goldfinch at our feeder. No other birds are messing with him. He's been there for the last 10 minutes. The sunflower seeds are all his.

mobby_6kl posted:Just back from a trip to Costa Rica, apparently they have lots of birbs. Costa Rica is such a great place for birds. I like to use the Merlin app to ID birds. My bird watching guide in Costa Rica actually recommended it. You download region packs and can ID via photo, sound, and a "step by step" if you don't have either. You can play songs and calls from the app, too. I had a conversation with a pair of motmots outside our rental.
