The Red Hand of Thaolis, (birth name Thullgrim)

The Red Hand rides in the back of the truck his two swords gripped in his hands. Both of the weapons were new; until this point he'd used old rusty knives to do his work, but his new employers insisted on him getting new weapons to go along with the new armor. Luckily, over the last couple days, the heretic spent off time getting used to the weapons and armor. In his right hand a beautifully crafted sword with a molecularity sharpened edge. The weapon was shorter, more gladius length, which meant he could still conceal it to some degree. In his left hand a chain sword. Red Hand did not like the chain sword; while well balanced the balance was not quite what he was used to, plus the noise, oh Gods the noise would not do at all.

Red Hand peaked out the window over the driver's shoulder as they came up on their target. When the marine started shouting out marching orders Red Hand nodded. While not typically a follower, Red Hand did recognize the Astartes was more skilled in small unit tactics than the shifty cultist. "Worry not, The Red Hand has struck down more than enough fleeing fools. Running from me typically means you end up dead as well as tired."

As they approached, Red Hand heard once again the voices he had been tuned into since he was but a child. They promised him a torrent of blood, and the murder-pleasure that came with it. No sooner than the start of the whispers, did the Red Hand see what the murderer was well aware was blood, raining down upon/within the vehicle. The Cultist could not keep himself contained, "Look my new brothers and sisters! The Gods smile upon us with their favor! Did I not tell you that blood was their boon and the expected payment we are to render upon them! For the Gods to shower us in this most holy of sacraments is to show the good fortune they literally rain upon us! Blood and death for the Dark Gods! Let us add to the torrent!"

As the truck moves up alongside the targets, Eris hits the button to open the side door and grins, sighting in on the armored vehicle with her plasma cannon. "What do you think? Sierra, the Apostate

When Sierra swerved the truck to cut off their quarry and begin the assault, it was certainly fair to say that the action began in a big way. If Sierra had any doubts as to the true nature of her comrades in arms, they were most certainly laid to rest. As flaming promethium roiled, plasma exploded, and profane blood rained down from the skies, her voice echoed across the vox, spurring her comrades on into further and deeper depravity. She said, "Let the gods of chaos witness what we bring forth on this day! Let all servants of the False Emperor fall by our hand! Let none survive!"

The Ambush

Soon after they arrive at the intersection of the street, Sierra swiftly catches up, managing to catch a glimpse of Colonel's surprised face for brief seconds while Darrien began channeling his powers through the Colonel's driver's mind.

The blood started violently pouring from the skies just as you saw one the bodyguards inside start to yell at the driver, that's when the truck side door slid open, flames consuming everyone inside and a bright blue plasma ball melting the rest to the wreck. The burning, melted armored car almost slams through the door of the building nearby, crashing hard on the wall. The only sounds from it is the fizzling under the blood rain and a desperate single burning scream from inside, it seems one of the men inside survived, albeit for just a few moments by the current state of the vehicle.

The raptor Barragan manages to completely disable the bigger vehicle on the back, wrecking the frontal part of the car, injuring the driver and the man beside it, the car almost crashed on the building too, ironically the momentum of the raptor's impact cancelling the velocity of the car, though certainly dazing everyone inside. Nonetheless your hear orders being shout from inside, the doors opening and occupants staggering out. The driver can't handle the force of the blood rain and is knocked down immediately.

You see that the men are well-equiped even in their current sorry state, all of them with a deep purple carapace armor, with the one that shouted orders carrying a plasma gun in his hands, and the rest all with some kind of hotshot lasguns. Most of them are simply astonished at the situation and at the Power Armored Marine above their wrecked ride.

The cell members only see two civilians currently, a the hobo in the corner of the street simply staring at the chaos, completely paralyzed with fear, jaw wide open. And some guy in worker coveralls that stepped outside his hab building clearly at the worst time possible, somehow standing strong against the blood storm that covers him and everything around him.

Barragan you need to make a +0 Strength check too to see if you don't fall prone since you're in the vicious blood storm.

If I understood correctly everyone else is still inside the truck?

The leader-looking one is the Wine Red with blue inside.
The Blood Rain is going on inside the Red Circle still.

Roll your initiatives if you haven't. The remaining hostiles have spent their actions getting out of the car and getting their bearings after their car crash, and are ready to fight next round

Barragan

The rain poses no danger to someone whose armored ceramite boots are currently lodged snugly in an engine block. Barragan uses that leverage to move up and over, with a little help from jump jets, to get up close and personal with the plasma gunner. Shoulder pips indicate rank, though the specialist weapon makes him a priority target anyway. He'll go down easily enough. The rest of them will have to wait until they've come around the vehicle now blocking their shots.

Move up and over the car, since the Jump pack ignores terrain, then attacking the sarge in melee.

The Red Hand of Thaolis, (birth name Thullgrim)

The Red Hand steps out the back of the van, turning his back on the soliders and instead focusing on the poor lost sheep who just stepped from his hab block on his way to his dull job in some dull factory somewhere. Red Hand despised cogs like him. Never aspiring for anything greater, never wanting to achieve anything beyond their next meal; such people were barely conscious beings. Best that they died and their souls served to the Gods than to toil and amount to nothing.

Red Hand looked up into the violent bloody downpour and opened his mouth, momentarily savoring the copperish taste on his tongue. The taste of blood, indeed of flesh, was not something new to Red Hand. He didn't relish it in any way, but the taste was so much like the smell in the air once a victim was flayed or bled dry. Red Hand flicked his new non motorized blade free of collecting blood, and ran straight at the poor soul. No scream, no warcry, nothing but the soft sound of feet splashing in blood to alert anyone of his presence. He ends the charge with a clean thrust, but misjudging the slippery nature of the blood soaked ground, the jab barely misses.

Typically the blood was on the ground after Red Hand killed his foe.

The Ambush

Darrien nails the civilian straight on the chest, unfortunately not enough to send him down, it seems it hits one his lungs as he wheezes and gasps for air with a pained expression on his face. Deals 3 Damage, he's at 5 Wounds now.

Eris's plasma ball nails one of the targets while the other one manages to roll away from the radius, the upper body of the enemy vaporizes in a bright blue flame, only the lower half crunching on the ground. One target down.

Both Sierra and Red Hand misjudge the distance to their targets and miss their strikes.

The smell of laser-scorched pavement near the hobo makes him "wake up" for real and realize what's happening, he runs away screaming up the street.

The pained worker's eyes go wide as he stares at the bloody swordsman right in front, deadly blades almost at his throat. He looks begins to run away to the right, careless of his mistake in front of a warrior. Red Hand gets a Free Attack of Opportunity

Raven's completely engulfs one of the mysterious armed men, the one behind him managing to avoid it, desperately ducking as the flamer roars. The open doors of the wrecked vehicle make the flames reach the prone driver behind the car too, setting him ablaze. The ones in flames are at 1 Wound and will probably die next round

Barragan's target almost has no time to scream as the chainsword is carved deep from the vicious charge, tearing him apart gruesomely, one half of his body sliding off into the ground. His plasma gun falls on the ground. Leader killed.

The Blood Rain is going on inside the Red Circle still. All members out need to roll the +0 Strength every round or fall prone as their first thing.
Remaining enemies will now have actions as usual.

The Red Hand of Thaolis, (birth name Thullgrim)

The attack on the fleeing civilian:
Fear. Fear was what Red Hand dealt in. As the drone turned to flee, Red Hand strikes out with his sword, delivering a blow to the civilian's left arm. The limb is quickly severed, causing a stream of blood to join that which is still raining from the sky. Red Hand turns the citizen around, and stares directly in his eyes as focus leaves him as his vital essence is spilled at his feet.

"Dark Gods I deliver upon you the blood of another mortal. May his vital fluid slake your thirst and may his soul that accompanies his blood be put to your dark use."

The actual round:
As soon as the light fades from the sacrifice's/citizen's eyes, the Gods reward Red Hand by reminding him of his place. The deluge of blood brings him to his knees. Red Hand looks up into the storm and shouts, "Thank you for reminding me my place oh ancient ones! I serve in all things, even my humiliation!"

The murderer quickly regains his footing and makes his way towards what is left of the combat.

The downpour of blood proves too much for even a power armored astartes and Barragan falls under its torrent. As the Red Hand finishes what Darrien started, the psyker puts his revolver away and mutters to himself. "Mental note: get better gun. Cannot contribute to the plan if I cannot kill, can't kill with bad weapons, powers not always available either. Target is dead, bodyguards are dead or dying, witnesses are soon to be dead. Time to leave, plan not finished yet. No time to waste." Pulling out his dataslate to work on his theories, the former factory worker yells out the window, "Hurry up and do whatever looting you want and get back in the car, there will be more people flooding the streets soon!"

Just going to pass my turn, not like my action is needed to mop up the survivors.

Finishing Off

Eris's plasma ball hits true again, the quick-footed enemy not so fast this time in avoiding the shot, his legs are engulfed by blue flames and vaporized, him screaming in severe pain before collapsing for good.

The Red Hand manages to get up after knocked down by the blood storm, and staggers near the battle scene against the purple carapace soldiers.

Sierra's las shots from the truck's windows hits the lonely able soldier, staggering him back but not downing him for good. The soldier gets to be the first and the last to try and shoot the hostiles after the ambush, raising his hotshot lasgun at Raven and firing deadly las bolts at the Space Marine helmet.

He rolls well enough to possibly nail 2 shots at Head location. Raven roll Dodge if you want as Reaction.
1st shot: 14 Damage Pen 7
2nd shot: 6 Damage Pen 7

Raven's flamethrower finishes the job, roasting the remaining soldiers that were alive in front of him.

Barragan's clips the downed, on fire driver on the head with his bolt pistol, finishing him for good.

The cell operatives have neutralized all enemies for good. Well, except for the hobo.

For a quick escape in the middle of a fierce blood storm, the members outside the truck do their best to loot what they can before climbing inside the truck. Barragan picks the human-sized plasma gun on the ground, and drags the severed-in-half leader pieces inside the truck as Eris suggested. The remaining soldiers's bodies are so melted and burned getting their pieces of armor is useless, although the Red Hand gets two intact hotshot lasguns and throws it inside the truck.

Loot:
2 pieces of Purple Carapace Leader body
The enemy leader's Carapace Armor is intact except for the Body segment of it, destroyed by Barragan's blade.
1 Human-sized Plasma Gun
2 Hotshot Lasguns

As soon as everyone is on board, Sierra hits the pedal and quickly drives the truck away from the ambush scene. As you leave the psychic blood storm is still going, you have made quite a messy crime scene back there. The smell of blood, guts, ionized gas and ashes is still inside the truck. You're sure the Arbites are gonna have a field day on that street, whenever they arrive.

A Moment of Respite

Sierra and Darrien figure out a way out of Habitat District Y-04 and in minutes you're far away from the crime scene, heading towards Audix's Cauldron. When you spot some abandoned minor factory you park the truck in some dark corner for the operatives to figure out the next move. You still don't hear any far-way Arbites sirens.

The current issue is what you're going to do with the truck and how to get back to your HQ without issues. You first passed the minor Administratum checkpoint between the two districts without issue as the truck was intact and Sierra had false papers about it. Unfortunately due to Darrien's psychic power surprise, your truck is now completely covered in dried blood, and will raise some eyebrows by any Imperial authority that notices it. It's still early in the "morning" but soon more movement will be on the streets.

What are you gonna do?

Astartes physiology thankfully allows Raven to survive being shot in the face with a hotshot. But man will it leave a mark. He helps loot quickly and ensures that any shell casings from bolt weapons are recovered. He's pretty insistent on this detail. As a parting gift he torches the other vehicle with a burst of flame as well.

Once they are clear of the zone, Raven presents a solution to their current predicament. "Good work people. We make a good team. Now about the dried blood on the van. We can either steal a new vehicle and swap the plates and such so that they match the papers Sierra made for us. Or you can go steal us some paint and give this poo poo the fastest paint job and detailing the universe has ever seen."

Clean Up

The crew manages to find a fire suppression system in the current area, although it looks like it seriously needs some maintenance. Nevertheless it seems to be working, and they drive the truck to it and activate the high-pressure water spray towards the vehicle. You find the water on the system to be dirty but at least it wont raise eyebrows like blood on the vehicle's exterior would. Eris works on the console to make sure any trace of this irregular usage of the system is wiped out, as the lonely record on the screen is deleted.

With that side-business done, the operators get back on track to going to HQ. As you heard towards the checkpoint to Audix's Cauldron's district, you finally hear Arbites sirens from a distance towards the district where you ambushed the Colonel. Thaolis Prime's Minister of Defense is gonna receive some very unfortunate news today because of your actions.

As you pass the checkpoint you don't notice any kind of tension from the lowly guards or administratum officers, just as expected.

The truck heads deeper into the half-forgotten segmenst of the industrial sector, where your abandoned factoria of a HQ awaits it's operators.

Azure Cell HQ

Red Hand and Darrius lock the gate and do a quick look-around the area for any curious eyes as the truck goes inside the factory.

Soon everyone and everything inside goes out, the Marines and their gigantic equipment, the salvaged weapons from the enemies and the two pieces of the dead body. The truck still looks like a mess and smells very badly.

Finally in the safety of your HQ you take a moment to fully realize your actions today. You have manage to accomplish the primary objective the Shrouded Hand set Azure to do, sure the ambush zone ended up messy but close to no injuries on your side, specially considering the surprise of the extra car and the mysteriously well-equipped soldiers on it. The only witness remaining of the operation being an old hobo that was probably traumatized by the experience.

As you remember you probably won't get any communication from either the Shroudded Hand's unique communicator or the handler until your second objective gets investigated. You check the communicator just to be sure and there are no messages at it. You don't see any news about the incident yet, and imagine that it will be take some time before official news about the Colonel's death are released, if ever. (Just to be clear on the machine: it has a lot of functions beside the One-Way communication from wherever the Shrouded Hand warband is at, you can check 3D maps about nearest Spires just like in the first debrief, and also access the public news system of Thaolis Prime)

After a good start of your cell's activities, what are the operators gonna do next for the rest of the day?

The Red Hand of Thaolis, (birth name Thullgrim)

Once back at the cell's HQ, Red Hand claps his hands together. "Well done brothers and sisters of damnation! I may not be some vaunted apostle of the Ruinous Powers, but I am the most honored amongst us in their eyes." Red Hand runs his hands over his bald head, and his horns, to emphasize that he is the only one among the group who is gifted. "I will say, that given our performance today, we are chosen in their eyes! The gods literally showered us in their blessings this day. However, this also means that our loyalist enemies are looking for us. The gods put that blood rain upon us in both celebration, and as a test. Such a volume of fluid will draw scrutiny, and we will have to be ready for it. However loyalists are stupid and not creative. It will take them time to connect things to us."

The jubilation leaves Red Hand's voice, and he becomes more serious, "Now that our target has been taken care of, we should take more time in dealing with this Purple Estate. Our target will not be there, so we need not rush things. We should take time to scout out the location from the outside, then infiltrate from the inside."

I can stealth at 60, before we take into account bonuses for staying in the dark and the like, and awareness at 40. I propose we spend some time having Red Hand scout the place from the outside. Get a feel for dimensions, entrances, regular comings and goings. Then either after that or contemporaneously we can have one of the more social folks go in and act as patron and scout from the inside.

Worst case Red Hand can sneak in and scout around restricted areas.

Barragan drags a clawed fingertip along one of the inner angles of his helmet to get some remaining viscera out.

"You may take it as a blessing if you wish, but the gods have hampered as much as aided us this night. But we overcame their test. And if you wish backup, I can provide overwatch from above."

"I should have ensured we had a backup vehicle. I wasn't planning on psyker blood rain. Eris can you rig up an attachment to our bolters to catch our brass for us so we can occasionally fire our bolters without leaving behind damning evidence. I picked up Barragan's two shells after the battle but in a heated firefight I don't have time to pick up all 24 from my clip. Finally onto the matter at hand. Lets assume that the men we killed were from the Purple Estate. I have nothing to go on besides the color of their armor but it seems like a fine guess. For the actual scouting of the place, let's get a new vehicle and use our current as the backup. Different make but still able to carry our entire cell in full kit."

"Red Hand has a good idea, let's do that. I can leave my armor behind and join him for the day. Pretty sure I can conceal a bolt pistol and my combat knife underneath some clothes. The chainsword might be a bit long for concealment purposes and its loud anyway. We'll scout out the exterior and when night comes I'll retrieve my wargear and remain on standby as Sierra, Darrien, and Red Hand go inside the place in person. I'll check the maps of that section of spire for an alternative extraction route. If we can't drive off in our main ride, we should have a secondary waiting for us at one of the sewer exits or maintenance access points."

As Raven goes to the command console to check out maps of the spires, he shouts back to Eris "Oh yeah, go check that loving body. You were pretty insistent on us hauling it back, go see if it has anything worthwhile."

Raven has 50 Stealth and 50 perception base, 60 if heightened senses come into play. Space Marines are unusually big but we can play it off as he's a mutant or something. If mutants have no place in the section of the hive we are going then nbd, Red Hand can scout solo.

after a great meal i like to lie on the ground and feel like garbage

Sierra, the Apostate

Sierra idly picks over one of the hotshot lasguns while the others bicker about the merits of blood rain, checking the sights, heft, and workings in surprising detail for a semi-disgraced luminary. Running through a few drills to practice slamming in a new powerpack, she finally seems satisfied. Sierra sets down the lasgun and says, "I would not be against your lurkings, Red Hand, nor yours, Raven, but I fear our time is less free than you suggest. At the moment, we are still an unknown factor. Both to the False Emperor's puppets and our... friends... of the Purple Hand. The more we dither, the less advantage we retain. Trust in my skills with words, just as I've trusted in your considerable gifts of violence." Her gaze sweeps the group. "If I can gain their confidence, I have no doubt they can be bent to our will."

Sierra, the Apostate

"Simple enough. I present myself at their door as an aficionado of the finer things in life, a potential wealthy patron, and allow them to tempt me with their myriad offerings. While I discuss matters with them, pheromones and my own honeyed words will conspire to make them realize that any current loyalties are misplaced... and should be placed in our care instead. Should they require a referral of some sort for entry, I'm quite sure that Eris could ensure that they found my claims to be in order." Sierra gestured at Darrien. "Should he refrain from further storms of blood, our dear psyker may also prove most useful in identifying the leaders for a more... hands-on approach. If necessary, of course.

"Sounds good. Sounds like something we should act on immediately if time is a factor. How about the rest of us?"

Sierra, the Apostate

"While I, of course, have the utmost confidence in my abilities... I do not suppose your earlier mentions of scouting the location with Red Hand would be amiss. Particularly if you were able to identify the exact loyalties of the Purple Hand, for leverage in any... discussions I may have with their leadership. Barragan would, of course, be most welcome on overwatch should we require an expedited exit."

"How about we scope it out until its an appropriate time for a socialite like you to show up? Then the show is yours. Any objections from the rest of you lot?"
