like every lit->anime kyoani adaption gains a lot of storytelling power from what the studio adds via scripting/directing (this almost always involves entirely new chars or ascended extras) so i don't much care what the takes on the novel are

I mean, I'm a little wary of the way almost everyone on my TL who's caught an early screening of the first ep or two have came away without much of anything to say beyond "OMG it's pretty." But it's also just the first ep or two, so eh. We'll know when we know.
