In cars
In the beginning, there was nothing.

And then there was Ciliatrix, the first thought. The first idea – everything that could and would be compressed into a single point. She was choked and confined, being everything meant she could be nothing of her own. And so she created space, so she might spread. And for a while, this made her happy. She could explore her potential. But eventually, she grew bored again. There was only her, and everything within with her. It was terribly lonely. She carved off pieces of herself, making the first boundaries and borders in the universe – making the Titans.

You play as the Titans, the children of Ciliatrix. Mighty gods who forged the universe and ruled in its first age. You raised your own children, gods themselves, to help you and to share in the joy of creation. Together you shaped the oceans, filled the sky with stars, and made the first sapient minds. And for a time, all were happy. Creation was beautiful and so complex it surprised even you at times. But as time passed you grew greedy, egotistical. You began to treat the universe like your own personal playground, ruining the delicate balance of systems you worked so hard to create. The only being who could stop you, Ciliatrix, was just as guilty as the rest of you.

And that's when your children struck. Together, many of them betrayed you. They killed Ciliatrix and used her corpse to forge weapons and armor to use against you, later chains to bind you. The war was over almost as soon as it had begun, and you were in chains. You, along with the children who remained loyal, and your most powerful mortal followers, were thrown in Tartarus – a prison forged from the heart of Ciliatrix. For uncountable ages, you have been locked in it, dreaming of only one thing. Escape.

And soon, you might just get it.

----------------

Welcome to Titanomachy, a Play by Post PDQ Godgame. In it, you will play as the Titans - the children of the creator goddess Ciliatrix, thrown down into Tartarus for succumbing to your worst impulses and bringing the universe to the brink of ruin. Your objective is to escape, and then confront your children for what they did to you.

Character Creation

All PCs are Titans – primordial gods cut from the body of the first goddess. You built the universe with your mother's help, and your essence permeates and shapes it on the most basic level. As such, you have extreme divine power. However, you will begin the game with almost all of your divine power locked away by Tartarus and have to fight to regain it.

Who Is Your Titan?

Your titan began life as a piece of Ciliatrix, perhaps a fingerbone? Or maybe a rib or tooth. In any case, she tore it from herself to make them and gave only one directive: create. What did they create? How did they rule their creation? Did they have a seat of power?

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

This is a domain they gave up during the creation of the world/universe/humanity. You begin play with this quality disabled but as you play you will presented with opportunities to take chunks of it back in +2 increments, or forge it into a new domain.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)

Your titan still has this domain, but it is disabled at game start due to the prison interfering with its function. As a note this domain has a secondary function, allowing them to hide their divine power under a bushel by posing as a human who embodies this domain. For example, Elverova (the example app) could hide as an author or storyteller. As long as they act within the confines of what is expected for such a person, their power will remain well-hidden, even from their children.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

This is the only domain (besides their flaw) that isn't disabled at game start in some way, shape, or form. It can be anything at all, from Sunsets to Street Food but it's something your titan loved so much it became part of them. They've held onto through their long incarceration.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

This is your divine flaw, the thing that consumed you, lead the universe to the brink of ruin, and your children to rebellion. But it also drove you, gave you the passion to build the universe. You may take flaw points (FP) to turn it into a correspondingly large (1 FP = +2 bonus, up to +6) advantage on relevant rolls. Greed can push you all the harder to get what you want, and Fury can drive your combat powers to new heights for example. Other PCs and your children can use your FP against you, and you maybe given the opportunity to indulge in your flaw on a disastrous scale to wipe your accumulated FP away. All Titans and your children are completely aware of their flaws.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

If they had many children, and/or more than one of them rebelled this was the ringleader among them. Your child is a god, just like you, and so has at least one major Domain. Tell me what it is. Any loyalist children were thrown in Tartarus with you. You have no idea what's happened to them.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?

At the bottom of this post, you will find a blank version of this sheet in quotes for your convenience.

Post Frequency and OOC Communication

This game will have a biweekly schedule, with updates on Mondays and Thursdays, and potential for bonus updates if all PCs turn in their actions beforehand and I'm feeling up to it. Discord (Invite Link) and this thread can be used for OOC communication. Please note I will need to give you roles on the Discord server before you will be able to speak.

PC Conflict

You're in this together, if reluctantly. Fights to the death should be rare. Instead, consider a competition of some sort with prearranged stakes. If you have a problem with a player OOC, don't try to use IC conflict to resolve it please. That never ends well.

Example Titans

The first titan listed is your mother, Ciliatrix. She was killed during the rebellion, and her corpse forged into weapons your children used against you. (Hence why she doesn't have a complete sheet) As a result her first two domains; Space and Boundaries cannot be taken by PCs. War is fine though. Elverova is a complete example app. Below that you will find a character sheet without any commentary.

quote:

Ciliatrix, The First Titan

Pictured: Ciliatrix in her primary aspect towards the end of her life. As her fascination with war grew she began to wrap herself in it's vestments, and the ultimate expression of her power became her sword. After her grandchildren killed her, they used it against the Titans to bind them.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Space +6: Ciliatrix created space, so that she might have room to grow and explore. Not stars and other stellar bodies, but length, width, depth, volume, distance. And for a while, it made her happy.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)

Boundaries +4: But eventually, she grew bored again. She was everything that could be, that ever was, a single stagnant point. She began to carve off pieces of herself, making the first entities seperate from herself. They would become her children, the Titans. Together, they would work to define boundaries, lines, borders, and everything that went in them.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

War +2: Almost as soon as sapience began, the creatures that possessed it began to divide themselves into groups. Eventually calling themselves "empires" and "nations". Leaders beseeched Ciliatrix for her blessing, to make their borders divinely enforced. And almost as quickly, they invented what would become Ciliatrix's all-consuming passion - war.

Ciliatrix became obsessed with conflict, and began to neglect her creation in favor of watching, planning, and encouraging battles, wars, and duels. Any situation which caused borders, ideas, concepts to shift and move fascinated her. She became so engulfed in it she didn't see her children succumbing to their own flaws, or her grandchildren's bitter resentment of her and them. That is, until one of them put a knife in her back.

Example App posted:

Who Is Your Titan?

Elverova, the Mother of Stories was born when Ciliatrix tore one of her fingerbones from her left hand. Before the rebellion she was a bright, cheerful titan and beloved by many for providing inspiration to the world's greatest artists and storytellers. She held court in her great library and gathering hall where those eager for her blessing competed to produce the best art.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Language +6: Like her mother before her, Elverova spilled her own blood to shape the universe. As it flowed from her body it became the first letters, ink, the sounds of language. Those letters and sounds became the First Tongue, used by both magi and storyteller to shape the young universe.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)

Stories +4: Elverova was fascinated by the power of her creation. She walked among the first sapients, and taught them to how to wield it. Elverova watched with barely contained glee as mortals began to write stories, build communities, and ultimately, whole cultures. Libraries became her temples, and she gorged herself on creativity.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

Love +2: Elverova loved every story, every emotion, but no one ever doubted she had a favorite - love stories. Not just romantic love, though that was her favorite of favorites, but the love a mother has for her children, love for an ideal. In her mind, it was the height of what sapient minds could create. Soon, those most eager for her favor realized this, and began to churn out love stories to gain her attention...

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw)

Romantic -2: The constant feed of love stories began to fuel an obsession. She started to meddle with creation, rearranging the lives of mortals and remaking their art to further her indulgence. Her selfish ways would destroy lives, entire art movements, and ultimately civilizations when she developed a taste for "forbidden, star-crossed lovers".

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Morirova; The Mistress At The End

There was one part of stories Elverova never enjoyed, something that weighed on her. Endings. Eventually she created Morirova, the Mistress at the End from one of her teeth to judge and inspire them so she wouldn't have to. Morirova would be her first (and only) daughter. She quickly came to represent more than simply the end of stories, she became the avatar of Death itself, as no one else rose to take the mantle. She kept her own court, where she judged stories and souls in the same breath.

She saw the cost of her mother's obsession with love firsthand, the ruined lives and stories piled up before her. And as her obsession deepened she became lax making sure mortals did not misuse the First Language, putting yet another burden on Morirova's shoulders. When the others came whispering to her about rebellion against Ciliatrix (and by proxy, her mother) she reluctantly agreed. She hid their coded messages in epilogues and postscripts, where Elverova would never look. After they killed Ciliatrix, she would use her mastery of Death to forge weapons to use against the Titans.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Elverova was heartbroken by her only daughter's betrayal. They were unusually close for gods, even on the eve of the rebellion and even with all her burning resentment. Morirova threw Elverova in Tartarus with tears in her eyes and apologies on her lips. Elverova hasn't been the same since it happened, she is more distant, less likely to trust, and prone to doubts of depression and lethargy.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?

Elverova would gorge herself on every story she missed, especially the love stories. Then, she'd write her own, a true epic dedicated to her freedom.

And here is an empty sheet for your use.

Who Is Your Titan?

Palayon, The Lawgiver, She Who Decrees, The Judge of All, The Guide of Men, The Word

The world was created. The stars shined bright, the oceans glittered and the mountains stood tall, mighty and regal. The universe was a most beautiful jewel indeed. Yet... it was missing something. And what it was missing was the newborn mortals. Children of the universe itself, created to appreciate it. Yet the creations were simple. They were brutish, barbaric and savage. They did not listen to her pleas and orders on how they should be. Thus in a fit of pique did Ciliatrix rip off her tongue, so that it might speak for itself.

And from the tongue fashioned herself Palayon. And thus freed from her creator, the newborn Titan breathed in deep.

Then she SPOKE.

And the mortals listened.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Law +6: Palayon was created with the express purpose of giving the tenets of Law to mortal creatures. The decrees in accordance of which they should act. The ways they should carry themselves. The commandments they should heed always and forever. She is the creator of both Moral Laws, the giver of the first spark of conscience from which the inbound feel for right and wrong stem, as well as the crafter of the first Civil Laws, so that organized groups could form. Any group, nation, order or religion in which rules and tenets and custom are followed, the echoes of Lady Palayon's word can be heard.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Civilization +4: The mortals were always Palayon's pet project. She ushered them along, ever refining her laws to guide them along so that they might better enjoy and appreciate the universe. She loved them, and though she was often thought of as a harsh judge, or at least an uncompromising one, she always had the mortals' best interests at heart. And thus, under her wise guidance, like a flame fanned to become a pyre, did the scattered mortal tribes and simple societies become ever more complex, ever more refined, until the first true high cultures could be said to have been born. Wherever the gong of gavels sounds, and high spires rise, can be seen the traces of Lady Palayon's greatest and last gift to mortalkind.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Excess +2: Yes indeed, Lady Palayon loved her mortals. She judged them sternly yes, she guided them like a teacher would. But she was also endlessly fascinated with their works. Often she took breaks from her work to walk among the mortals in disguise, to see what they had gotten up to. Sometimes... a bit too much so. See, in a way, the many excesses of High Society were anathema to Palayon, and she would rebuke the gluttonous and the greedy for such indulgence. But on the other hand...

Was it not the direct result of her own teachings?

Weren't the spires and great buildings excessive too, the ones she had always been so proud of her children for creating?

A portion of all that the humans made would always funnel to the very top, and in its own way, didn't the existence of such displays of utter extravagance add its own bit of flair to the world too?

...

Perhaps next time, she should visit the mortals as a high class aristocrat instead of as a beggar?

It couldn't hurt to at least see what it felt like.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Corrupt -2: Poor Palayon. What did you do? It didn't need to end this way. Or perhaps it did? Perhaps it was indeed unavoidable. For Palayon was created to usher along the mortals, to be invested in them. Is it then a surprise she could not always remain totally impartial? Is it then a surprise, that if someone is created for the explicit purpose of caring about something, that they would be easily tempted by it as well? But regardless if there can be found a shred of sympathy for the corrupt lady of laws, what cannot be denied is that the moment she started turning a blind eye to her own teaching for the sake of her own amusements and conjuring to being decrees that were by nature self-serving is the moment her downfall was assured.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Justice

Justice, the firstborn of law, needs no name but that of his domain, for he exists for nothing else. More distant from mortals than his mother, more capable of appraising them with objective eyes. A far more capable Judge of them than her, by far. Stern, yet always fair. He shows not mercy, but never goes too far and knows when a rightful price for infraction has been paid. Truly, a perfect amalgamation of his mother and father's best traits was he. Never did he raise a blade in anger, or use more force than necessary.

Thus was it more a battle of wills than a war in any true sense when Palayon was intercepted in the midst of a tryst by her own son at the very beginning of the War. He came for her not with a sword, but with chains and a scornful gaze.

"I know what you did", he merely said.

Palayon tried to fight back, but could not resist the righteous indignation. For she was the goddess of laws, and she knew, deep in her heart, that she was in the wrong. She had no answer for the accusation.

Her only weapons impotent, she withered under his gaze, and was cast into the pits. Once there, she chained herself to the wall by her own hand.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?
Palayon feels conflicted more than anything. She is forlorn, for she understands to a degree her own fault in what has occurred. Certainly, she has not been the perfect role model she would have initially wished to be, the perfect pillar of all that is Good and Just, without flaw or fault.

But then, is she angry and indignant also. What of it if she weren't perfect? There were none that were perfect! Not among the Titans, not among the Gods, or the Mortals. How then, did she deserve this? What if she skimmed some from the top every now and then? Without her, there would BE no top to skim off from in the first place!

This was excessive. This was not just.

This was not the way things should be, nor the way she would let them end.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?
Go on a month long drunken bender Probably seek to strengthen her grip on the mortal realm again because they're HER babies! She does not hate her son, not truly, she cannot bring herself to do that, but she wishes to confront him. To work things out somehow.

Items & Artifacts
Kaneru’s Gavel: Kaneru's Gavel can be used as a +2 weapon or be to provide either Order [+2] or Authority [+2] on a roll; After a use it must recharge for two turns; unless it was used to non-lethally pass judgement, in which case there is no recharge period.

The Scythe of Vyse: The Scythe of Vyse can be used to add Death [+2] or Curses [+2] to a roll; after which it must recharge for two turns.

Minor Chameleon Trinket: Gives Illusion [+2] when used to trick mortals. May be given to mortals to use on each other. It changes width as you slide it up and down your finger, and the inlaid jewels or patterns shift to whatever you envision. Radiates a faint divine presence.

My Cult posted:

Speakers of The Word:

Puppetmasters [+4]: The Speakers keep their true allegiances secret from outsiders, but just because they are unseen is no reason to suspect they aren’t there. They are diffuse in their organization, seeking to metastasize into other institutions of power, to have their pawns be the ones pulling all the strings from behind the scenes.

Gray Eminences [-2]: The very nature of The Speakers as a secret from others means they do not operate well, or in fact at all, in the spotlight. They cannot take direct action, their aptitudes lie elsewhere.

Who Is Your Titan?

Kaplos, The Utilitarian.

He was born late by the combination of a speck of grey matter and the nail of a thumb. He saw the great works of his Elder siblings and thought, "Well that's all swell but what good is it?" His work, then, was to find uses for all these grand creations of his kin.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Utility - The ability to use the materials of the universe in order to make things. Along with his Wife Mejna the Titaness of Change(who herself eventually turned to Chaos after their separation) He made sure most of Creation could be used and reused by the blossoming life and forthcoming mortals.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
-

Craftworking - Once he noticed Humanity making use of sticks and rocks as tools he began to show them how to make better tools and how to use those tools to make things with the plants, animals, and different stones and metals they were to find within the mortal realm.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

Toys. The playthings of children. His mind could encompass all that was within the world, and how to use it. Humans in their incomplete understanding of the ways of the universe could sometimes stumble upon new ideas, things of which the Titans themselves had never seen or realized. Crafts building more crafts eventually led to ends beyond the Ken of Kaplos. Whether they be uses of magic or triumphs of mortal technology it all seemed to rise from their imagination.

And the earliest they showed such imagination was when they would play with their toys as children.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here?
(-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Mortal Supremacist- The longer Kaplos worked with the humans and admired their ingenuity that admiration became worship. Though his kin had created this Plane of Existance he could clearly see that the mortals could one day usurp them all in mastery over all things. Collectively at least, one on one beings such as his kin would prevail.

But the humans were many and very clever. So it was that Kaplos in mortal guise aided their brightest minds as an assistant to them advance and create new technologies and reach heights that began to frighten god and Titan alike.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Chentis the Half-Mortal.

After the separation from his Titan wife Kaplos would occasionally be smitten by mortals. One of them bore him a child. Though he did all he could for the girl she resented her mortality instead of embracing it. Rejecting it entirely she eventually found a way to cheat her mortal death by Necromancy to become the first Lich.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Even as she cast her father into Tartarus he held pride in her novel accomplishment. Though she hated her mortal side it was the very thing that allowed her to find new heights in one of the Schools of Magic. He was only saddened that she didn't see it that way.

Who Is Your Titan?
No-hope, Ciliatrix's shed hair.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Trash, dust. Worthless, forgotten, obsolete and extinct things. Precursors. Fossils. No-hope hoards these things in caches that no one else cares to visit, even if they found out where they were.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Desperation. No-hope would favor any being that acted senselessly against impossible odds and without faith in their hearts or any long-term goal. The blessed being's hair would fall out and suddenly their limitations would be suspended until they destroyed themselves. The end. No moral.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality) [now +2]
Senses and sensors. No-hope's hairs are antennae, and vibrate in tune with every action and reaction in the cosmos. As more and more beings "prayed" to No-Hope, they realized the futility of their duty to the ranks of the faithless. So they pulled out their locks, silencing each strand humming for another caller, and fled the dancing lizard tails in search of silence, peace, and powerlessness. Whatever Divine Domain awaits the Titan outside the prison will be newly forged and unfamiliar to them.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Dereliction. No-hope became overwhelmed by responsibilities and let them all lapse, hoping that they would be forgotten and cease to exist. Would that it were so simple.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Loop, a small, dense doll made when all No-Hope's hairs joined together into one never ending strand and wound itself infinitely tightly. As an antennae in tune with everything, they can find anything. No-Hope let themselves be led by the hand quietly and without resistance by the doll.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?
Remembered. Relieved?

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?
No-hope has no idea and hasn't planned that far ahead. I'm thinking something having to do with turning back time or bringing back all those dead and forgotten things with necromancy or something. Perhaps they'll return to relevancy, also leaving the umbra of No-hope's qualities, pushing them to change and develop even more.

Cultists: The Abiding. Castaways cleansed and focused by besting incredible odds for no other reason than survival. +2 Comebacks and neverlefts (I lived bitch). -2 Easycomings and easygoings (cult members leave and return freely)

Who Is Your Titan?
Vauhalpa, He who draws His way, the Dreamshaper. Born from a lock of Ciliatrix's hair, that She cut and threw to the wind.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Purpose. The ability and will to change things from what they are to what they should be. He made sure the universe was a malleable place for those whose will and power was sufficient. Those who weren't strong and determined enough would suffer, but Vauhalpa cares not for the weak-willed.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)

Change. He taught humans how to alter the status quo, be it via magic, cunning or simple brute strength. His favored could shape their surroundings by simply exerting their will. Sadly, a mortal mind is not quite up to the task, and as such those changes were mostly ephemeral, but Vauhalpa liked it that way, it kept things from being too set and boring, and let only the most determined prevail.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

The Sea. He loved it as a symbol of what he wanted the world to be: rich with fathomless potential. He also had a soft spot for sailors, people who gave their lives to this wonderfully chaotic expanse of possibilities. This led to him preferentially adopting the form of a great marine bird, soaring over his loved oceans.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

Dreamer. Dreams are moments of clarity, where you can see how things really should be. Vahualpa, having sacrificed his Purpose, got a bit lost in his dreams, and used them as a guide. This led to him changing the universe willy-nilly, following a twisted logic that couldn't be followed or predicted by others.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Alitna, Wings of the Storm. The storm is destructive and in destroying it changes, and yet she was the first one to take action and guide the revolt to stop Vahualpa's spree. He suspects she was feeling overshadowed.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Actually kinda proud, to be honest. I mean, his traitorous children envisioned how they wanted things to be, and they acted on that vision. That's what Vahualpa is about, and he's glad they got the message. They're still gonna be shattered in countless agonizing fragments to be eternally pinned to the stars once he gets out, because come on, what do they expect will happen, but still, good on them for trying.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?

Get started on the aforementioned shattering. Vahualpa had a long time to dream of revenge, and the Dreamshaper's dreams have a tendency to become reality.

Added Domain: Dream[+6]
Vauhalpa realized that being lost in his dreams got him cast into Tartarus, and decided to start fighting the Dream for control. He now can manipulate other beings' dreams and nightmares. He still remains susceptible to the whims of his Dream.

Ink [+2]
After getting drunk on Elverova's fermented ink-blood, Vauhalpa lost his powers over the Sea and gained control over colors and pigments.

Equipment and Weapons

Gyre and Gale [+2] Weapons forged from the remains of the Shell. Gyre is a net, woven of silk and sea, whose finely threaded ropes seem to ceaselessly whirl and twist on themselves, making escape impossible once it has tangled its prey. Gale is a polearm, usually looking like a viciously hooked trident, from whose head drips venom. As befitting the weapon of the Titan of Change, it has no definite shape, shifting and flitting to better suit Vauhalpa's needs and moods.

Thraion

Vauhalpa may use Space +4 or Abyss +4 (not both) via Thraion's assistance, but the next turn Thraion must feed on titan blood. If he feeds on a PC they take -2 to their next roll, or no penalty if the bonus given was at +2. When Thraion is used to boost a roll Vauhalpa gains the passive benefits of that domain until his next turn ends.

Cult

Those who Soar Upon The Winds of Dream and Change (Soarers in short)

Adventurous Sailors [+2]: Vauhalpa's cult is a loose coalition of crews, whose actual goals are varied. Some are in it for plunder, some in the pursuit of a Great Dream. They all are a rowdy bunch, experienced in matters pertaining ships of all kinds, exploration and recovery of treasure.

Ink Daughters[+2]

Dreampainters [+2]

Unruly [-2]: The worship of Vauhalpa attracts people prone to drawing their own path, be it because of a strong will or because they are generally weird. Either way, trying to get them to follow a coherent and orderly plan makes herding cats look like a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Grimoire Elverova

A heavy tome of black leather and golden filigree. It has an infinite number of gorgeously illustrated pages - all detailing the history of its universe. Once a turn, without a roll, Grimoire Elverova may be asked a question about the universe it is from. Grimoire Elverova can be used to add Stories +2 or Ink +2 to a roll. Once upon a time, when the Universe was young and All-Mother Ciliatrix still was drawing its lines, the Dreamshaper was soaring through the stars, searching for worthy mortals to teach, when he found a great blue planet. It was covered in water, with sparse islands and landmasses dotting the liquid surface. New islands arose from deep under the crust as the old ones were swallowed by the waves, and so the cycle began anew.

Vauhalpa found himself entranced with such a vivid spectacle, and dove to have a closer look. He danced on the winds and raced the waves, and then changed into a manta to see the reefs and the depths.

Being host to a Titan's frolicking isn't an everyday experience for a planet, and the inhabitants were scared of the great shadow that had came from the stars, so they prayed to Aelthys, their matron goddess. The Lady of the Depths and the Shores answered her school's call, and she went to confront the Titan. "Who are you, to dare trespass upon my domain as if it was your plaything?"

Now, any other Titan would have bristled at such disrespect, and struck down the insolent sea goddess and the planet with her, but Vauhalpa was intrigued by her boldness, and decided to play along. "I am but a pilgrim from the stars, drawn here by the beauty of this place. Please, show me its wonders. I promise you'll have no trouble from me". Aelthys, flattered by his words and always proud to show off her treasures, welcomed the pilgrim in her court, and there he resided, for seventeen and eleven and seven months, and the more Aelthys showed him, the more Vauhalpa fell in love with her domain and her, and she grew fond of this strange pilgrim and his stories of distant worlds.

On the last day of his stay, he revealed himself in all his power, and promised a bewildered Aelthys that he would repay her hospitality in kind: "You gave me your world and took my heart, and I gave you only stories in return. It's a paltry reward, for one so lovely as yourself. I shall make you the mistress of countless worlds, so that you too can travel the universe and see its everchanging beauty."

Nowadays, because of that promise, when the Dreamer sees a world he particularly likes, or one whose inhabitants displeased him, he floods it as a gift for his beloved, so that it can be added to her domain.

And that's the reason why we pray when we see a dark shape flying between the stars, and hope not to catch his clouded gaze.

Who Is Your Titan?

The Eldest Brother, born from the warm breath of Cilatrix as she realized any worlds she would create would be cold and devoid of energy, The Ever-Rising was created to warm and help bring life to the then-sterile universe.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality) (Currently +4)

The Sun. The Ever-Rising carried with his claws the great flaming disk that would mark the passage of days, provide light to those who couldn’t stand the darkness and provide energy to all that lived on the Earth as he flew through the skies with his massive mighty wings.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

The great passions and emotions felt by the mortals lived down below. As he carried the Sun on the skies, the Ever-Rising came to watch upon the life that teemed below itself, their dramas and their conflicts. He found them to be infinitely amusing, and oft more than not he would slow his ride, watching the passionate play of the small creatures below.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+6 Quality)

Mortality, to be specific, the Entropy that brings an end to all life and moves time forward. The Ever-Rising knew that the flame that shined the brightest was always transitory, and he believed that his beloved race below should have a limited time on Earth in order for them to make the most out of their existence.

Mastering the cycle and ending it can't be done just by accelerating forward. Only the complete control of Time will be necessary to do so.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

Despite his generous and jolly nature, the Ever-Rising was absolutely selfish, letting his curiosity and whims endanger the world below, as he often approached the Earth to see it closer, starting droughts and wildfires that brought great chaos below with no regard to those endangered by his actions.

Estella, the Star Shepherd

The goddess of minor stars, supposed to move the minor bright lights at the night firmament. Yet their meager and weak lights were not sufficient for her, and she coveted her father’s possession, biding her time for eons before using the children's rebellion as a pretext to usurp the sun from the Ever-Rising's claws and adding it to her cloak of stars.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Furious. Livid. To be deprived from his job, to be deprived of his amusement. Whoever was responsible for this would pay for it immensely.

Burn down and consume the traitors, but in a way that allows him to protect his beloved Mortals from his ire as well.

The name comes from the desire of the cultists to see "another sunrise", clinging on to life and live to another day. Spare batteries are pretty key.

Who Is Your Titan?
Pahoe, the destroyer & builder, was created when Ciliatrix pulled out a broken tooth and spat the shards aside. The bloody mess joined the heat of blood with the hardness of bone and created Pahoe. He is magma, the heat of the earth, who destroyed wherever he stepped, yet new life then grew in those footsteps. Volcano, hot spring, geyser, and obsidian were under his sway. Men thanked him for the rich land he gave them, but feared lest he ever return to their home to visit it anew.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Magma, the deep heat, and all it brings forth. The new islands, the healing hot spring, the geyser of mineral water, The bursting volcano and the choking, flaming death, the entombment of cities. These things no longer have the potency they did in ancient days, before his imprisonment.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)

Healing: the secrets of hot stones on sore backs, of soaking in warm mineral water, the obsidian surgical knife. But most importantly, he brought forth magic crystals, which could heal all sickness of blood, spirit, or heart. This magic he gave by way of apology, and whenever a volcano would open, with it would come the crystals men used to make their friends be well on the inside.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

Islands, he loved to visit islands, to feel the waves lapping against him and hear the call of the birds and the sizzle of new land forming. He loved the geometries and shapes he could form when he poured himself into the sea. And sometimes he would just bubble happily within a caldera and look at all it all.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
His children grew angry when he caused another whole nation to be destroyed. They had said " Enough! The land is formed, your task is ended!" But he thought it would look better if the coastline was crescent-shaped, a good natural harbor and very geometric. So he blew out a caldera 4 miles across and the city's walls were just barely caught at the edge. (The walls would have looked better made from hexagonal basalt and not square limestone blocks anyway.) Besides, those people were too full of themselves and their magic, they needed to relearn humility.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?
Three of them joined together to trap their father for the audacity of smashing their favorite city. Bronze came to Glass crying tears of rage and they went off to find Lodestone and the three of them conspired to trap him within a rune (magic which they had to invent.) Now he flows only within its magical confines: a maze that loops back onto itself, with walls he cannot touch.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Confused. Didn't he make the world a more beautiful place? Mortals die anyway, but a spire of pure hard granite would be forever.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?
Find an island, and make it bigger, burble happily away for a little while. Then smash any schools of runic magic he could find.

"Little by little the old world crumbled, and not once did the king imagine that some of the pieces might fall on him"

Who is your Titan?

Barayo: The Lord of Order, He who Watches, The Punisher, The Hound

When Cilatrix saw that mankind often broke the rules and laws she had set, she plucked out her eye, and Barayo was born out of it. He set out to make sure humanity and mortality at large, obeyed those laws, for their own good. Always he gazed and judged, and mortals that broke the law soon found themselves sternly steered back to the righteous path.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality):
Order (+6): Barayo taught humanity to see order in things. In the world, their society, in their actions, in their behavior. He made sure the worlds acted consistently, his eyes noticing flaws or breaking of rules. And after creation settled down, he focused on making sure humanity did the same.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)-
Punishment +4 Barayo strived to always be swift with his punishment, though initially, it was never crippling. Often focusing on teaching the offender the error of their ways. When the earth was young and humanity sparse, he could intervene for each transgression, and the number of them remained small, because no-one wanted to be chided by him. As humanity grew larger, their ambitions rose, they spread out more, and their society became more intricate, layered, with so much ways to breach the rules, even a Titan who could see all could no longer react in time. Humanity sinned quicker than Barayo could punish, and the punishments became harsher, and as Barayo lost his affection for humanity, crueler and longer lasting.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Dogs +2 They are loyal, obedient, understand rules, perceive and hound lawbreakers and also, Barayo thinks they are just the best. Even in his darkest periods, it was known that Barayo would never hurt a dog, beyond the lightest of disciplinary action, and he never needed to do more, as dogs loved him as well.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here?
Hatred for Humanity: Barayo is inhuman. He vaguely understands that humans have pleasure and temptation, but he doesn't quite grok it. To him, the fact that humanity was given a clear law, and a mind capable of understanding when they broke and didn't break it, and then chose to break it anyway was at first a frustrating matter. But as humanity grew and spread, but their lawbreaking didn't cease, the sheer amount of sinning and rulesbreaking weighed on the Titan. Punishments became more severe, more harsh, to the point that it would be called sadisitic if Barayo seemed to get any pleasure for them. Humanity that had once seen him as a stern guardian of virtue soon learned to fear him as a merciless tormentor, as even the lightest sins soon found no mercy. By the end, his eyes were as sharp as ever, but they saw nothing but flaws. No human was worth the air they breathed. He killed, and pulled souls into a dark place, where they were tormented 'until they are pure'. None ever left that place during his rule.

Which of his children betrayed him

Asaltah, the goddess of mercy. One of his daughters. In better times, she was the one to speak up if she felt a human had suffered enough, and learned his lesson before his full measure of punishment. When things started to go awry, people feverishly prayed to her, and she did not cease tearfully pleading to her father, only sometimes managing to have him grudgingly pardon someone. By the end, he had ceased heeding her. When he learned that Ciliatrix fell, he was into a rage, blaming humanity, and set out to wipe them out, when he encountered Mercy, on her knees, pleading him tearfully to shed no more blood. When he hatefully said that she too was corrupted by humans and walked past her, she took one of Ciliatrix teeth and stabbed him in the back. When he awoke, he was in his Mother's Heart.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Rage. But as in all things, he blames humanity for it. He is convinced their creation was the greatest mistake, and his children's betrayal is the result of humanity muddying the water with their treacherous, deceitful and sinful ways.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?

Try to find a way to hurt humanity, preferably in a way that demonstrates their sins. Also, get a dog.

Ignorance, the root of all evil
Who Is Your Titan?

Masach the Illuminated One, Archer of Inspiration, The Feathered God, One-Eye

Masach always boasted that His birth was the first good Idea. While He always speaks it in jest, there is a kernel of honesty within it. Beautiful and proud, Masach was born from the beating heart of Ciliatrix herself. As She tore the organ from Her chest, She filled it with all her hope for the future, distilled into pure creative genius. This essence infused Masach and gave Him life. He took His gift and shared it with humanity, using His bow and arrows to give His disciples a bolt of insight.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Inspiration +6 Before Masach was born, sapients were unguided, without direction. Their lives and purpose were without meaning, limited to basic survival. To hear Masach tell it, it was His gift that gave sapience to the Universe. Whilst not exactly true, Masach would argue that without Inspiration, sapience is meaningless.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)

Invention +4 Masach's greatest gift to humanity was the ability to create new things, just as Ciliatrix had. From art to science, new creations flowed from Masach into the minds of humanity, borne by His arrows. Whilst His intervention was not always required, He could boast that a great number of humanity's most enduring inventions were a direct cause of His divine inspiration.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

Philosophy +2 A perfect distillation of pure inspiration, the philosophies debated by the greatest minds of humanity exceeded Masach's greatest expectations. He found Himself spending the greatest part of His time amongst the great cities of the world, where philosophers would argue and counter-argue for days on end. Of course, His obsession with philosophy often meant that the poorest towns and villages were overlooked by Masach's arrows.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

Hubris -2 In his own pride, Masach refused to take responsibility for the bad ideas. So, He formed Caudi, Goddess of Folly, out of His own left eye, and tasked Her with dealing with those inspirations He didn't want. The failed ventures and bad ideas were shunted off to His progeny, so that He could keep his pride and reputation.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Caudi, Goddess of Folly. Caudi came to resent her Father, and chose to take control of her own destiny. She planted the seed in Masach's own mind to rescue the other Titans, fooling him into believing that his own genius would keep him safe. Instead, She fooled Her own Father and betrayed Him with the very gift that He had given Her.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Much of Masach's anger and disbelief were not directed at Caudi, but instead at Himself. He couldn't reconcile the fact that He had been outsmarted by His own Daughter. After some time, however, He also came to resent Caudi - not for imprisoning Him, but for depriving Him of his most favourite things. He had not seen the works of humanity's greatest artists and architects in countless years.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?

Masach yearns to be surrounded by the beauty and innovation of His favourite old haunts. Whether they still exist is a mystery that haunts His thoughts. He dreams of the advances in philosophy, art and science that have come and gone in His absence, a long and torturous for such a creative mind as Masach's.

He also wonders at His Daughter's own development, and simultaneously dreads meeting Her again.

Mother of Monsters (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
"All living things are worth cultivating."

Humans often mistakenly portrayed her as the protector of nature. Prayed to her for permission before slaying a wild animal, that sort of thing. She didn't care. She was not protecting nature, nature protected itself. She never interfered in a fight or kill, regardless if the victim or the killer was human or not. It was the nature of things that the strong defeated the weak. The humans didn't need to worry about her permission. So what if Pahoe gave them fire, Kaplos gave them tools and weapons and Vauhalpa inspired them to invent even better weapons? They made the humans stronger, and so they could kill more easily. It was the nature of things. It was right...

It didn't feel right. There had to be a balance. If the humans were getting stronger, the wild should also be getting stronger. And so, while she supposedly looked over every living thing equally, as humans advanced and grew in number, she spent more and more of her time and energy on creating and breeding stronger and deadlier creatures in wilderness areas far away from human settlements. Of course both the humans and the beasts wandered around and eventually they'd meet. After a while some human heroes would emerge and defeat the monster in some epic battle, usually egged on by some of the younger gods, the children of titans. - That generation is just infatuated with their human heroes and champions, aren't they? - These events just spurned Shaliel on to create even stronger creatures, culminating in gigantic beasts like hydras, krakens and dragons, near the end. She became so obsessed with these projects, that she neglected her domains in areas near human settlements, which resulted in crop failures, sickness/plague among domestic animals and other catastrophes.

Who Is Your Titan?
Denmother. The Great Green Dragon. Yshtera. The Spring Queen. The Midwife. Karsh. Ursa. The Green Lady. Surai-mat. The Mother. They are Ysa, born of Ciliatrix’s gentle left hand.

Sometimes, she is a tree! Other times, she is not.
Sometimes, she is a verdant personification of nature! Other times, she is your disappointed elderly mother.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost?
(Fertility & Growth +6)
All Titans were tasked to create, and Ysa did so with greatest passion. Within the bounds set by the First Titan, lush verdancy was Ysa's wake - the first black rich soil was dyed in her blood, the rough early beasts were her first children. Wildflowers and green grass sprung up in her footsteps and the primordial forests were her domain. Her labor was immense in birthing this New Creation. Yet the greatest miracle was not the life she created, for Ysa’s creations were special - they begat. Not the forging of purpose-built offspring as Ciliatrix had made her titans - no, these were not a lesser incarnation. They begat things like themselves, but also unlike themselves in a myriad of different and wondrous ways. Ysa’s creations created. And their creations created. And created. Ysa so loved her gift that she shared it eagerly with any and every Titan who would have it. A hundred, thousand wild iterations could pass in the blink of a titan’s eye in those early days and the life there would scarcely resemble what was first titanborn.

And Ysa loved this - this wild, divergent growth, rampant and feverish. Tiny lives of creatures large and small, some hers, some born of other titans, but all in this cycle of generation. In time, Ysa no longer created new life herself, only cultivated and guided life that was.

Her prison of Tartarus is a barren thing, and there, so is Ysa. Nothing is born there. Nothing is wild. All is caged and condemned.

(Maybe Nature works as a better focus here? Basically a flora and fauna domain?)

How Did They Guide Humanity?
(Hunt, Harvest & Hearth +4)
When the first mortals showed that spark of sapience, when their mewling and rutting had begun to separate them from their bestial cohorts, Ysa could not help but take notice and nurture. They protected their offspring as the denmother would but also loved them in a way that Ysa herself loved them. She came to them often, in those early days, as a wolf, a bear, on her own, or with her children.

Her son, Hakkan, came among them as a great wolf and taught the lanky mortals how they might routinely fell great beasts to feed gatherings. Chasing herds of prey, these mortals ate well, and their numbers grew.

The herds led them to a land of great river valleys, and it is there her daughter Urran greeted them in the guise of a great lizard - perhaps a dragon - or even as a tree - the stories differ. Urran bid them stay among branch and bough, at the riverbanks. She dug a deep furrow and showed them black, rich, loamy soil, and in one Summer’s time, how sewn seeds would feed more than the hunt. And these mortals prospered, and their numbers grew.

Eight seasons, these mortals lived in the great river valley, earnestly tilling and reaping. Settling. Their lives were not the wild days of frantically chasing food as beasts, and their minds turned to other pursuits, other notions filled them - abstract ideas championed by the other titans. Ysa’s son and daughter, Iga and Ala, came among them, in the guise of their own people, as mortals, and showed them how to truly place roots in this land. To build families and become not beasts, but people. To build not a shelter, but a home, and to tend a hearth.

For many generations, Ysa lived among them herself. A great green dragon that warded against the numerous monsters and blights in those early days. Or a massive bear that staved off winter. Or a waterbearer. Or a farmer. Or a midwife. Or a wizened old crone Or a new mother, with her own mortal children, they say. Relative to many of the titans, she was greatly earthbound, and walked among the river valleys of her heartland, openly and not.

That is one telling, anyway. It is different in every land, and any who could say if it were true must either be in Tartarus or will not speak of it.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth?
(Her Children +2)

Ysa had many children, countless even. Some of her own flesh by birth - especially those primordial beasts, others merely favored by her fancy. From humans to beasts, mundane and fantastic, she loved their endlessly complex lives, and to watch them learn, and to grow, and have their own children. She loved to help them when they stumble, to teach them when they came to her, to foster and nurture, as a mother does. The plants and beasts see her and Know her - she is of them and they are of her. She does not rule the natural world, but it regards her fondly. Even among humanity, grown apart from nature, Ysa is held in good regard - the token of the Mother or one of her incarnations adorns many hearths.

Some of her children share her prison of Tartarus now, especially her more fantastic and powerful brood. Some live still beyond, out in the world, cut off from her, and this worries her greatly.

(I haven't played PDQ in awhile, but saw this more as a social regard type trait. Ysa enjoyed broad faith and support, and has adherents all about. She doesn't *command* nature at all, but for a natural born thing to take action against her is a feat.)

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here?
(Overbearing) (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

A mother is to love her children, and to show them the way. But mortal mothers die. Mortal children mature in their own right. No one lives forever beneath their mother’s watch, none but the children of Ysa. A man grown may bristle at a mother’s admonishment. A curious daughter may wonder why she is forbidden from a thing. Children may want to leave their hearth, their home, and forge their own path - different than their parents’. One can only a pray a Titan may understand this - Ysa was not always so permissive.

Knowledge was kept from them for their own good, time to time. Disaster was permitted to visit them - as an instruction and learning experience, time to time. When shards of Ciliatrix’s essence fell from the heavens into the river valley at the heart of Ysa’s favored domain, she kept this from even her own divine children.

She loves fiercely, and cares deeply, but also fears greatly for the safety of her children - and in her pride, deems she knows what is best for them. Ysa's love is both boundless, and without boundaries.

(Wasn't sure what a good single word to use for the trait? Domineering? She both tries to control too much and cannot disengage from the lives of those around her. She is over-protective and controlling, in the good ways and bad. She grows close, but also sort of smothers.)

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

The mortals progressed past an era of mere hearths and harvests soon enough. Empires, nations, armies came, and war displeased Ysa greatly. A terrible squandering of life, a yawning devouring maw that swallowed so much beauty.

But Hakkan thrived - he had grown neglected in eras of stone walls and forged weapons - the hunt, the savage garden of early creation, had waned, and so had his domain, until he stoked the fires of war. He taught Ysa’s children that they were once hunters, savage and powerful, and that they need not fear their neighbors. The quest for empire was the great hunt, and temples to the Great Wolf were built as tall and high as any shrine to the Mother.

Ysa admonished her son, chided him and his adherents, but this only enraged him. The coddling had made her children weak, he claimed, and her primacy did not grant her the right to forever plot the course of her children.

In time, all but Ala turned against her or at the very least turned their back. Urran told Hakkan that their mother had hidden away cast-off essence from the First Mother, Ciliatrix. Hakkan demanded Ysa no longer keep this from them. In that moment, she denied Hakkan one final time, and sealed her fate. He cast her aside, seized some small piece of the First Titan’s power, and used it in the ensuing conflict.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

Ysa had felt her ebbing influence over her children for thousands of years before. All mothers know it, from the moment their child leaves their womb, they will grow ever more distant. The harder she had tried to hold on, the greater the rift. And in time, not even Ysa could hold on to her children forever.

It would be false to say she greeted this with perpetual serenity and patience - bouts of spitefulness, fear, disbelief, jealousy, remorse, regret, melancholy, all afflicted the Mother before, during and after the betrayal. Violence is not her nature, but her anger overcame even that at the end.

In her heart, she still is certain this is an adolescent rebellion, and that the rift can be healed - which may be true, or it could be that she still does not fully understand the totality of her loss.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?

Likely as not, Ysa would wish to wear a mortal guise and seek out children who had not turned against her, and hope to learn from them and protect them in these turbulent times - it is her nature, it is what she does. She wants nothing less than to fix this all, and especially to bring Hakkan back into her embrace - preferably through love and compassion, though she has not ruled out the notion of bringing him to heel before her. At this point, a cowed, humbled obedient Hakkan would maybe please her as much as a genuinely loving son.

Secretly, she also harbors thoughts on the death of her own mother. Ysa's drive to create, and her creations' tendency to multiply, chafed at the bounds created by the First Titan. With Ciliatrix gone, could the bounds of existing creation be tested? Is there more space to Grow than ever?

[+2 Old Faith] The roots of Ysa's 'cult' is bone-deep in cultures creation-wide. It's tenets are usually easy to love, moral, and popular ideologically - so the ideas endures in her absence, even her imprisonment, independent of Ysa's name, ready to be rejoined with the Mother's name and image. The faith spreads readily and abundantly.
[-2 Diffuse] A popular faith isn't necessarily a powerful one. The tenets don't involve control or seizing power, and it is by definition a populist faith rather than an elitist one. Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Ever the perfectionist, Ptolem grew unsatisfied with his early works as he gained more experience, choosing to endlessly revise those pieces that most irritated him. His uncompromising attitude eventually got to the point where he would destroy and reform stars by the hour. These changes disoriented travellers and threw people into disarray.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?
Arydan, Composer of Constellations. Seeking a peer who could advance his own craft, Ptolem birthed a child from his fingernail, it was she who connected the individual masterpieces that Ptolem had created into grand constellations Artworks depicting great tales. However, as her father’s obsession with perfectionism grew, his destruction of his previous works threw her own in disarray. Ultimately, to protect her own work, she had to cast her father into Tartarus.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?
Depressed. Arydan was the only person that Ptolem recognized as his peer in terms of artistic talent, and to have her reject his revisions left him in a slump for a while. Even now, he yearns to return to those times where he would craft new stars for her to build stories around.

That warm and fuzzy feeling.
Who Is Your Titan?

Victoria Ascensus - Goddess of Victory, Champion of Mortals, the Perma-Wasted

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)

Heroism - the last ditch effort, spitting in the eye of destiny, luck, pluck, chickenshit, whatever you want to call it. Victoria is (was) the embodiment of never giving up when everything was stacked against you, for good or for ill. Victoria descended from Ciliatrix's blood the first time the First Titan was wounded. Not enough to actually injure but definitely enough to piss Her off.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)

Strength - To say Victoria was fairly unsubtle would be an understatement. Preferring direct confrontation except when it would be moronic to do so, she charged ahead, shoving aside any obstacles in her way.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)

Alcohol - The cause of, and solution to, all of the mortal races problems. Victoria quickly discovered the strange brews mortals like to make to dull the horrific pain of their existences and decided she liked it. She's been sauced on more than a few of her adventures, which probably explains why she's locked down here.

New Traits
[Espionage+2] - It covers sneaking, but also lots of other sneaky stuff, and lying

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

Overconfidence - When you're used to winning and spend most of your time in a drunken haze, your hubris tends to hit sky high levels. Victoria was not ready when her own traitorous daughter casually side-stepped her right haymaker and tripped her down a very very long flight of stairs, right into hell prison she currently resides in.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Alsoran, The Goddess of Second Place
Victoria wasn't the best mother, even by the standards of the Titans, and having the goddess of victory as your mom continually harassing you to win when you're literally the embodiment of almost-succeeded and tried-their-best wasn't the healthiest of relationships. Victoria left her guard down, however, and for once, her daughter came up on top.

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?

A little bit angry, a little bit sad, and very very sober, which was probably the worst feeling of all.

(Bonus) What Is The First Thing They'd Do If They Escaped?

A drink, followed by catching up on quality time with their kid(s) (Possible/probably maiming.)

Update 2/13/18: This Chitin Kills Fascists, dripping poison and celestial fire, this greatsword crafted from the remains of the Shell glows and burns with an unhealthy light. Stripped down and now with proper balance and handling, Victoria is eager to share its touch with those who would oppose her. +2 to swording things.

Update 2/26/18: Cult: Godhound, [Commandos+2], [Everything looks like a nail -2

Artifact: The Infinite Booze Cabinet - the IBC can be used to get +4 Alcohol to any roll to generate an alcoholic substance. HOWEVER, the IBC must be "deployed" in a static location and have two turns to "charge up", after which you can use it as you see fit.
Interestingly mortals can use it just the same (it can be added to cult rolls if members of the cult have physical access to it. ("You can use it to make health potions, for exampleor just about any kinda potion you need it's not just fun, it's great for your medical team!")

Update 3/16/18: Sayarumi's Heartseeker: The Heartseeker is a long single edged blade with a subtle curve. Sayarumi's Heartseeker can be used as a +2 weapon, or be used to add Death +2 or Love +2 to a roll. After a use it must recharge for two turns, unless it was used to attempt lethal damage on a sentient being. It may be used at any time to appeal to someone's deepest held desires, without beginning or resetting the recharge. It is a red blade with a pink edge, in a white lacquered scabbard set with red streamers and pink cherry blossoms
The streamers drip blood, and blood always drips from the mouth of the hilt

Update4/3/18: [Commandos+2] to [Cybernetic Commandos+4]

There he is!

Fretem Sal
The First Wave, The Overflowing Spring

In the beginning there was only Ciliatrix, the only being that had ever been. The First One grew lonely, and the solitude bringing great sadness into existence. Something new was created, the first tear that there ever was. Ciliatrix was confused and shocked by this new thing that had been made and struck it from her face, removing her cheek and eye as well in her haste. This was how Ciliatrix learned to create New from the Old, and so she set about creating the whole world along with numerous children. They built everything together, creating high peaks from which to rule over creation and all its wonders.

In the depths of this new reality, in the deepest places, the first shards of Ciliatrix formed something new. From her eye poured forth water that was salty, and bitter. From her cheek came water which was pure and sweet. Thus was born the Overflowing Spring, Fretem Sal, the first and greatest of the children of Ciliatrix.

At least, that is how he would tell his story. The truth is likely impossible to know - concepts such as "first" were irrelevant in the beginning time, and there were many children of the Mother of Titans to stake a claim to the title of "greatest."

What is certain is that for quite some time the world existed without Fretem Sal, who lay in the depths alone and forgotten. He cried out to his mother and siblings, but his fall was so great and so high was creation that none could hear him. He, like his mother before, began to despair his lonely existence. He raged all around, and his tears spilled all around him until finally they began to fill the void in which he was trapped. Thus was born his first Daughter, Altima, and a new concept was created - depth.

Reinvigorated with hope and purpose, his loneliness broken, Fretem Sal plotted a return to creation with his new family. They summoned up their power and declared a war of conquest on the rest of the world. Water first filled the deep places, and no one noticed. Then the waters began to rise, crashing against the firmament of creation. Every nook, every crack - there was no escaping the First Wave's onslaught but to flee higher and higher up the world. Along the way Fretem Sal had many children, great and small - all the seas and currents of the world. Creatures which had previously had no home flocked to him, pledging their loyalty to the Ocean and filling it with all many of wondrous life.

But his siblings and mother were no strangers to war, and mustered to resist him and his kin. The war was long, and bitter. Serried ranks of the water clan charged again and again, crashing against the stone and earth, driving through the low places. But the high places were harder to take. He sent some of his children searching through the crevices of the world, seeking to rise up and outflank his enemies. However these children became the Springs, Rivers and Lakes, who grew to love the lands and people and turned against the saltwater seas. Enraged Fretem Sal hurled himself and his children into the sky, blocking the sun and invading the sky, only to fall upon the drylands with great fury. This assault was repulsed, and in its wake the world began to bloom even more vibrantly than before.

Eventually, the war settled into a stalemate. A great wave of the water kin will crash against the shore, only to be swiftly driven back. Sometimes the seas will unite into a Tsunami, launch an assault with a massive Hurricane or both - but no matter how much destruction is wrought, the waters are always forced to recede. Thus it was when Fretem Sal was king over the oceans, and so it still is...

Who Is Your Titan?

Fretem Sal,
What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost?[/u]

+6 Ocean All of the saltwater seas in the world originate from Fretem Sal. At one point all water in the world was under his domain, but the spirits of Freshwater betrayed their saltwater kin during the long war between lands and seas, turning their flow against the sea and pushing it back. The crushing power of waves, the endless march of the currents and the incomparable wrath of the hurricane were once under his command.

How Did They Guide Humanity?

+4 Determination The greatest lesson that Fretem Sal taught to humanity was the determination to persevere through adversity, against impossible odds. To never give up, to keep marching forward even when defeat seems inevitable. In this way Fretem Sal and his water kin have subsumed tall mountains and pounded rocky coasts into sand.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth?

+2 Illusion Once, as the war dragged on in its endless stalemate, Fretem Sal looked into the sky and saw a pearl of impossible size and beauty hanging in the sky. He was sure that it must have been stolen from his domain or the domain of his children. He reached up his hand to take it, but could not reach it no matter how hard he tried. He gathered up his kin to lift him up that he might reach it, but it had flown away toward the horizon - but it had also grown closer and more tantalizing. He reached for it once again, but again it was too far and it fell over the horizon. Enraptured by this mysterious and beautiful thing, he declared to his kin - whoever could bring him this pearl would be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams. As one an army rose up in a great wave and gave chase, to no avail.

After long study Fretem Sal discovered this pearl was far out of his reach - and only tricked him and his kin into thinking it was growing closer or further. However, rather than being enraged by this trickery, Fretem Sal honored the celestial sphere. He stopped the pursuit, and instead ordered his kin to form a vanguard and march under the heavenly pearl, announcing its presence and passing wherever it went, a task that is still performed today. Although not as accomplished as the Heavenly Pearl in the art of illusion, Fretem Sal learned several lessons from it - and now it is all he has left.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here?

-2 Restraint No matter how much he had conquered, Fretem Sal would not be restrained. If he encountered a barrier he would flow over it, if he found a crack he would fill it. Fretem Sal has trouble retraining himself, a trait passed on to his water-kin children. However for him it is heightened, intensified. He would not be denied what he sought - and his obsession led him to forget what he already had...

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Altima, the Deep Darkness, first daughter of Fretem Sal

As Fretem Sal had been forgotten by his mother, so to was Altima, first child of the waves forgotten by her father. Fretem Sal was obsessed with looking up, and around, spreading in every direction. The depth, the darkness beneath the churning waves of war, fell beneath his notice time and again. Alone and cold in the darkness, supporting all her kin above her, she grew angry and bitter that none remembered her. When the chance came she wove a cat-o nine tails from the body of Ciliatrix and used to to entrap her father, dragging Fretem Sal into the depths - deeper than he had ever been, crushing him and trapping him in this new hellish existence -

How Did This Betrayal Make Them Feel?
Angry, at first. Betrayed. However in the aeons that have passed, Fretem Sal has had a great deal of time to reflect on his mistakes.

Given the number of responses I've started doing feedback a bit early, and they'll posted in chunks of five and in the order they were posted.

quote:

Who Is Your Titan?

Palayon, The Lawgiver, She Who Decrees, The Judge of All, The Guide of Men, The Word

Backstory: Great! A classic fall-from-grace.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)
Law +6: Pretty self explanatory I feel.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Civilization +4: I think understand it, but I want to make it absolutely clear just in case. Civilization as a domain is something of a grab-bag, everything from sewer design and traffic engineering to how to run an immunization campaign and institution scale food preparation. All the skills you could ever need to design a society at scale. Am I getting that right?

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Excess +2: OK, this is mildly unclear. How do you use Excess as a domain? Summoning a shitload of cocaine?

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Corrupt -2: Perfect. Corrupt represents both a clear boon and obvious malus.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Justice: Excellent, Justice is a great domain to give me to play around with. Strong character with a well defined relationship to their parent.

Overall, I’d say Palayon is pretty much ready for primetime - just a few clarifications I’d like.

quote:

Who Is Your Titan?

Wander, the Unbound, She Who Walks with the Wind, the Free One, the Guide of Just Revolution

Backstory: Good stuff.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)
Will +6: Makes sense. If/when you get it back it can be used to meddle with the wills of sapient and sentient creatures

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Freedom +4: Interesting, but a bit unclear. How/when would you apply Freedom as a domain? Is it physical freedom? Metaphysical freedom? Both?

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Wind +2: Self explanatory, I feel.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Escapism -2: This isn’t clear in the least. How does this represent both a boon and a malus? And what would your titan actually do?

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Morrigan, the Winged Crown.

Birds!, a lovely domain butttt once again, would Wander want to actually confront their child for what she sees as a crime against her? This relationship is meant to serve as an engine to generate conflict and keep the plot moving, how does it do that?

Overall this app is shaky, and I think it could use a little more time in the oven - especially the flaw and parent-child relationship.

quote:

Who Is Your Titan?

Kaplos, The Utilitarian.

Backstory: Accidental Titan, I dig it. It goes well with the theme of irresponsibility running through this.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)
Utility +6: A very jack-of-all-trades domain. If I understand it correctly when/if Kaplos gets this domain back he can use it to look at a thing and understand all it’s current and theoretical applications?

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Craftworking +4: Self-explanatory. I dig it. Combines well with Utility.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Toys +2: This is really cute and clever! It adds a lot of flavor and I can imagine lots of neat uses for it.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

Mortal Supremacist -2: whistles. If you get in your siblings are very likely to hate and malign you for you for your role in their downfall, are you comfortable with that? As a boon you’re excellent at understanding the mortal perspective and communicating with them, and as a malus it makes supernatural entities with a distaste for humanity instantly dislike you, correct? If so, I dig the high conflict potential this brings to the table.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?
Chentis the Half-Mortal.

As we discussed, Necromancy is her domain. Could you say a bit more about her? Does she hate all mortals, or just herself? If the former, this represents an excellent conflict driver.

Overall, strong app. I’d just like to know a little more about your daughter.

quote:

Who Is Your Titan?
No-hope, Ciliatrix's shed hair.

Backstory: Simple, effective. I like it.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)
Senses +6: I love this. It has delightfully uncomfortable implications and that creation myth logic down pat.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Desperation +4: No wonder they abandoned their duties. A grim, but useful domain when things are at their worst.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Trash +2: Flavorful as hell. I dig it.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Dereliction -2: This has interesting interplay with Desperation, but I’m a little unclear on how it represents a benefit. Is No-Hope exceedingly good at hiding, evasion, and escape?

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Loop: As we discussed, mirrors No-Hope’s domains making Senses their most powerful. I’d like to know a little more about them. Do they resent No-Hope for abandoning them?

Overall, I like it. It’s flavorful as hell and the interact between your flaw and +4 has a lot of potential. I just want to know a little more about conflict drivers for this character.

quote:

Who Is Your Titan?
Vauhalpa, He who draws His way, the Dreamshaper. Born from a lock of Ciliatrix's hair, that She cut and threw to the wind.

Backstory: Birb! I like it.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)
Purpose +6: Interesting. If/when you get this back it’s a weird one. I’m guessing you use it to alter the purpose of objects and materials? Like it somehow makes a toothbrush into a lethal weapon or a can of gas into water. Am I reading that right?

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Change +4 So many unintended consequences! This one will be fun to play around with.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
The Sea +2: Simple, effective and fits neatly with Change thematically.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Dreamer -2: A little bit unclear. I’m reading this as Vauhalpa is gifted at using dream-logic and understanding it but can struggle to deal with the physical world and lacks for willpower.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Alitna, Wings of the Storm

Resentful Storm god, I dig it. Good conflict driver.

Good stuff, just need a clarification on the flaw and you’re ready for primetime.

Indeed. It is a Domain for the express purpose of building up the societies of lesser beings. Example usage: Palayon scoops together little globby golems from the black hell-stuff that surrounds her prison and animates them to mimic the mortals she once guided, has them build a functional city in Tartarus for her to inhabit. Then has them create a functional dairy logistics chain so that she can have a tub of Tartarian ice cream to eat while she cries because even though they go through all the same motions they are just empty husks and a shallow mockery of what she once had and has now lost. But at least she has ice cream now so hey progress!

I mean it can be! Summoning all kinds of unimaginable temptations for that Divine Bribery is definitely within the purview of excess. But just like characterizing Slaanesh as the god of Sex & Drugs, its a bit of a shallow reading of its full potential. Excess is the domain of going too far to the point of horrid decadence with almost anything. It can be material goods that help to wallow in hedonism, sure, but turning somebody who likes music into some body-horror Noise Marine so that they can enjoy music like no other being in the history of creation ever could is also part of it.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Alsoran, The Goddess of Second Place

I admit. This made me laugh. Just to be clear, she’s peevish and defensive I take it? If so, good conflict-driver with Victoria.

Overall, a strong package. I don't think I need anything else from you except that clarification.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Altima, the Deep Darkness, first daughter of Fretem Sal

Utility +6: If he got his power back he might be able to alter the properties of matter. Lets say metals no longer conduct electricity. I just made wood hard and diamond soft. Steel is a liquid at room temperature. Mercury is a gas. When you mix Bleach and Ammonia you get breakfast cereal. When you pour milk and sugar together you create a powerful nerve agent. Fortunately he never backtracked, except that one time he forgot to find a way for wood to break down for millennia

If he gained this power back but changed its use he would go for Technology. Something the mortals can use and figure out even if it requires teams of specialists to make it work. It builds on his knowledge of what the mortals might call materials science, chemistry, metallurgy, physics, and the like.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)

I'm extremely comfortable with that. Is anyone surprised?

I intend to use it toward empowering/protecting mortals. Empowering would be a mild use, attempting to be subtle to push them along when the temptation strikes. Larger uses would be to help them even the odds when Gods, Titans, or other Powers threaten them.

I think the distaste for humans and myself might be more flavor than mechanical. Having it invoked would likely be to weaken my position with said Powers in a contest or force me to waste efforts to defend mortals rather than use the full weight of my power to oppose them.

Example: The god of bear asses wants to evacuate his faithful from a city where my humanitarians are invading. By invoking my FP he sends bears out to eat the invaders while he uses Ursine Spirit powers to get his own to safety. So instead of taking the temple I'm using the negated power to save my people from giant rear end bears.

Example: I am arguing with a Chaos Titan, while I want to solve the problem of demonic incursion with technology she invokes my FP reflecting the abilities of the supernatural in the short term versus mortals.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?
Chentis the Half-Mortal.

As we discussed, Necromancy is her domain. Could you say a bit more about her? Does she hate all mortals, or just herself? If the former, this represents an excellent conflict driver.

The domain might be "Undeath" actually. Being that she isn't wholly mortal or wholly divine she tends to undermine both while seeking to grow her own power. She doesn't hate herself, she hated that she was capable of dying from being half-mortal. Her mother's death spurred her on to finding a fix for death. Her solution might be "Unnatural" and "Unquestionably Evil" but it is a solid fix and it has actually brought her quite a mortal following. Some immortal by her methods as well. She probably bought some favor by creating shambling armies that raised the fallen enemies to fight on her side.

Besides some daddy issues she probably saw the overthrow of the Titans as a means to eliminate an entire generation of Powers towards her own ends.

Mechanically, yes. The idea is that Vahualpa could reshape reality to suit his desires and plans, by altering stuff as he needed. I intended the flaw as Vahualpa being in a perpetual state of not quite lucid dreaming: he has flashes of dream logic he can't predict, and has trouble sticking to one coherent plan of action, but if his dreams align with his goals he can alter reality almost effortlessly. Mechanically, I'd invoke it when trying out of left field or just plain weird actions, and it could be used against me by suddendly diverting the course of my actions, because the dream has changed and Vahualpa must follow it.

Are you in or are you out?

Dereliction -2: This has interesting interplay with Desperation, but I’m a little unclear on how it represents a benefit. Is No-Hope exceedingly good at hiding, evasion, and escape?
And making excuses. Pinning any legal or moral sense of obligation on No-hope is not easy unless they allow it. How does a mortal prove themselves truly empty of faith and worthy of No-hope's gift if they know the power it brings? It's a catch-22.

Loop: As we discussed, mirrors No-Hope’s domains making Senses their most powerful. I’d like to know a little more about them. Do they resent No-Hope for abandoning them?
Loop is basically a broom automaton from Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice that created itself to fill the power vacuum No-hope created by pulling out enough of their hair to go infinite. It created itself spontaneously and takes the shape of a doll arbitrarily–it could shift. In terms of resentment, there is none. It is basically as content as No-hope would have been to just have Sense powers and no divine duties. Those still fall on No-hope. Even if it weren't, it can't break, remove, or lose its own hair as Ciliatrix or No-hope did because it is one infinitely long hair, the fusion of infinite hairs pulled out infinite times.

Spare batteries are pretty key.
Yes, the geological sense.

Doesn't understand the consequences, partly. Doesn't care partly. He gets obsessed by aesthetic ideas and just does them without asking. Imagine a dad who starts repainting your bedroom right before finals. Or a janitor who unplugs a server (while it's compiling code overnight) so he can vacuum. In many ways, it's probably good that he's been locked away, but that doesn't mean he likes it. After all, volcanoes no longer randomly erupt and wipe out cities or cause crop failures.

Ringleader was definitely the god of bronze/metalworking. The inclusion of Glass & Magnetism were to give the idea that Pahoe (vulcanism itself) has been trapped in some sort of high-science cage and kept carefully controlled (maybe his stolen power is used by rune-mages).

Who Is Your Titan?

Ysa, born of Ciliatrix’s gentle left hand.

Backstory: Classic creation myth stuff, I dig it.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost?
(Fertility & Growth +6): Good, understandable applications.

How Did They Guide Humanity?
(Hunt, Harvest & Hearth +4): Good stuff.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth?
(Her Children +2): As we discussed on Discord, this is basically Divine Charisma. Non-divine life struggles to strike Ysa, even when she's in disguise. Sapients naturally want to trust her and just "get a good feeling". Can be used to persuade/sway.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
(Overbearing): Fits together excellently with the rest of your character making for a very nice, thematic package.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?

Hakkan, the Wolf-God of Hunting

Nice, Hunting gives me a lot to work with as a domain to use against the titans.

Don't think I need anything else from you. Good work.

Backstory: Loving that egomania.

What Did They Give To The World, That They Have Now Lost? (+6 Quality)
Inspiration +6: Good stuff.

How Did They Guide Humanity? (+4 Quality)
Invention +4: This can be used to make things, but not really improve them. Otherwise, works fine for me.

What Was Their Favorite Thing On Earth? (+2 Quality)
Philosophy +2: Interesting. I like it. Fits excellently with the rest of your qualities.

Why Did They Get Locked Down Here? (-2 Flaw/Situationally +2/+4/+6)
Hubris -2: Fun, and fitting.

Which Of Their Children Betrayed Them?
Caudi, Goddess of Folly: So let me get this right. He's so egotistical he can't face his mistakes so he makes someone else whose job is literally to deal with his mistakes and doesn't see where there's a flaw in this. That is some grade-A divine egomania.

Don't think I need anything else from you. Good stuff.
