Branderscar Prison: 17 Guardroom

Best Rat murders another guard, leaving only one guard still on the landing and stairs, for now. The remaining guard swings at Best Rat but fails to connect. The sergeant Tomas Blackerly makes his way up the stairs to the landing and also tries to cut down Best Rat, but also fails to connect.

Grumblejack seeing the sergeant takes a wild swing at him but fails to connect, Tomas however does not fail to take advantage of this opening. Striking true he draws more of the ogre's blood. Grumblejack is really not looking good anymore. Streaks of blood flow down his chest and he is breathing hard.

Dionathel rummages through Vhuloth's scant belongings and pulls free the healing potion from the Veil, administering it to Vhuloth and brining him back to consciousness. Black Alice meanwhile investigates the nearby door, kicking open the unlocked door and taking a look inside to find a table. The same room Vhuloth had been brought to to meet the lady who had given him the veil.

PRIM moves up and attempts to gore Tomas Blackerly but fails to connect through his armor. She can see a guard in pajamas behind him, that seems to be waiting for the right moment to strike, but no other guards seem to be coming.

Vhuloth gets up, pulls out the rope and ties it around something handy nearby. Then he runs jumps, and tumbles around the stairs and the landing to the other side flipping and landing safely at the bottom. Or well that was the plan. Things don't go quite to plan, and are certainly not as graceful as his usual moves.

Branderscar Prison: 16 Stairwell

Instead of landing safely on his feet he stumbles to his back. Laying to the side of the stairs he can see the guard climbing the stairs with a surprised expression upon his face, and an open door to the north.

Best Rat takes a chunk out of Tomas, but the sergeant is still standing and less than happy. The remaining guard on the landing, and Tomas, both try and take down the rat but fail to connect. The same for Grumblejack when he attacks the guard.

PRIM, BEAST OF HUNGER

A bloodsoaked PRIM is locking horns with the Sergeant, unable to pierce his armor without a running start. A bit of viscera she's been chewing on dangles from her mouth as she spits it out to growl, "I'm getting real sick of you, little one. I'm going to gut you and eat you, just like all your tasty guards."

With a quick look around, she likes what she sees, but she knows it's only a matter of time before more people to fight arrive. With a grin she disentangles herself from Tomas and backs off slightly, hoping to get some room for a real charge.

The last guard that hasn't had a chance to get into the fight, armed but unarmored, makes their way down the stairs and toward Vhuloth. The guard attempts to strike down the pirate, but fails to connect.

Branderscar Prison: 17 Guardroom

The final armored guard takes a swing at Best Rat and actually manages to connect, putting the rat out. Enraged Grumblejack strikes out trying to finish off the guard, but fails to connect, instead leaving himself open to a counter. The guard's blow strikes true once more and puts Grumblejack down. He joins Best Rat, bleeding on the floor. Meanwhile Tomas retreats down the stairs. The armored guard attempts to strike down PRIM while Dionathel pulls Best Rat free from the fight.

A well dressed man with white hair, an eyepatch and monocle makes his way to the landing, looks upon the carnage and begins to cast a spell. At which point Alice lets loose her arrow. The arrow seems like it should hit the man, but bounces off an invisible force surrounding the man. He raises his hands, chants and a sphere of fire rolls out over PRIM.

Branderscar Prison: 16 Stairwell

Vhuloth stands up, insults the off duty guard, and goes for the strike. But fails to connect, just barely. Meanwhile he sees Tomas coming down the stairs, bloodied and beaten. But as Tomas nears the door to the north another man comes through. This man is well dressed, an older gentleman, with an eyepatch over one eye and a monocle on the other. The man takes a look at Tomas, and a look at Vhuloth and then raises his arms and begins gesturing and chanting. Vhuloth can feel something trying to effect him. Vhuloth begins laughing and falls to the floor. The unarmored guard attacks him again, and the well dressed man inquires of the guard what is going on. As he hears the news of the breakout, and the death of guards his face becomes grim. He will not be taking prisoners anymore. He makes his way up the stairs.

Vhuloth needs to make a Will Save. Best Rat and Grumblejack are down and dying. Vhuloth failed the first save, but now gets another attempt on his turn to end the laughter. Best Rat needs to roll to stabilize. Grumblejack stabilizes. Mathias casts Flaming Sphere, and Alice's arrow bounces harmlessly off his Mage Armor. The Flaming Sphere enters PRIM's square and PRIM needs to make a Reflex Save.

Used: 1/day Swift Demoralize.

Having attempted to hit the Wizard directly with a fired arrow but failed due to an invisible forcefield, Alice would not be so easily deterred from and so she drew her sword once more. Stepping around the sphere of fire moving towards Prim and over the unconcious body of the Bugbear, Alice calmly appoached the magic wielding gentleman and lashed out with a swipe for his one good eye.

Which missed because I rolled an 8 in roll20

She only managed to trim a few hairs off of his brow, but as he collected himself he looked her right in the eye. Through her lank hair a single blood red eye could be seen and it bored into his soul. It was if Asmodeus himself was for a single, brief moment glaring at him, and it despised what it saw with every ounce of it's unholy being.

My Omen Trait that gives me one swift action demoralize a day however, rolled a 29 after modifiers. He is Shaken for 3 rounds.

I can get the rat clear of danger, but without magic, there's little else I can do for it. Instead, I decide it's time to keep up a direct attack at the magic-user. Launching myself up and over the stairs, I vault down through the stairwell and onto the wizard, sinking claws into a soft spot on his shoulder. I snarl, thoughtlessly and reflexively, at the sensation of claws hitting flesh -- very satisfying.

The Warden moves the burning sphere of fire into PRIM, finally connecting and badly hurting the minotaur, but not killing her. Meanwhile Alice strikes down the Wizard, putting the fear of Asmodeus into the remaining guard as their one hope falls. As Alice watches her foe fall she notices a healing potion roll out of the fairly full back at his waist.

Branderscar Prison: 16 Stairwell

Vhuloth all of a sudden finds himself no longer laughing uncontrollably. As Vhuloth catches his breath he intimidates the guard on the stairs, who just watched their Warden fall. The guard turns and heedlessly tries to run away from this situation, not bothering to protect himself from possible retaliation from Dionathel.

Warden Richter is dead. Both guards are demoralized.

Branderscar Prison: 17 Guardroom

The final guard falls. The potion is retrieved from the Warden's things and administered to the fallen Grumblejack. The ogre opens his eyes, blinking a few times and looks around. Realizing what happened he thanks you profusely. Fervently. It seems as if he has become quite attached to you all. Searching the guards finds that most, all but three, are wearing chain mail and wielding a heavy steel shield as well as carrying a longbow and 20 arrows. All of the guards have a longsword, and a leather club, as well as a key. Each key is similar but slightly different.

Searching the body of the Warden finds four scrolls, each looking like they contain a different spell. A dagger, a wizard's college class ring (gold with diamonds worth 250 gp), and an ioun torch.

"Alright, you find stuff, find more guards to murder!" Best Rat says excitedly as he head out to scout ahead.

While the others are putting on armor and looting, Best Rat is going to head down the stairs and check out that room (as well as looking into adjacent rooms, if there are any open doors.) Stealth check of 19 was rolled.

Best Rat slinks down the stairs, finding little of notice in the stairwell, then moves through the ajar door to the north.

Branderscar Prison: 8 Great Hall Entry Way

The Great Hall is a large dismal stone building that dominates the castle courtyard. A reinforced set of double doors leads into a long bare entry room. It is lit by two sconces holding torches.

Other than the great reinforced doors to the north, and the door Best Rat came through he can see three more doors, two to the west and one to the east.

While the light of the torches held in the sconces allows him to make out the features of the hall the open door to the east seems dark.
