They keep ignoring what Walter is saying about how she's acted a lot longer than any of them and it's not normal.

I’ve only seen Regina King in Enemy of the State and The Leftovers but she seemed to be playing the same character.

What? Like, the only thing those characters have in common is that they're portrayed by the same actor.

She's got range (e.g. The Boondocks), and I hope that she taps some of that for Watchmen. But she's very good even what she's not being asked to do massively different things (e.g. SouthLAnd, American Crime, The Leftovers)

Jessica Walter has the patience of a loving saint. When Tambor chimed in with his very satisfied “absolutely” after she talked about needing to be friends again, as if she had killed his cat, instead of, you know, took his bullshit yelling and verbal abuse.

gently caress Jeffery Tambor and every guy in that cast defending him. I’m hoping at very least Alia and Cera and Jessica say “it’s not loving worth it” after they’re done doing publicity for this season.

Seeing as how critics are saying the new season is tired, stale, and just sort of bad across the board, I don't think we'll have to worry about that.

I think he can hear you, Ray.
It's amazing that Bateman manages to come across almost as bad as Tambor in that interview.

That all the men are quick to defend it or excuse it as some sort of process and the only women in the room sit there saying "yeah this isn't right" tells you all you need to know.

That interview bums me out. I don’t think it’s quite as clear-cut as posters in here are making it out to me but it’s definitely not a good situation.

Bateman just a few minutes ago tweeted his response in a thread:

Hm. That's just about as good of an apology as you can give in that situation, I suppose. Though the "from any gender" at the end leaves a pretty bad taste in the mouth in a "violence on both sides" Trumpian kind of way. Because, come on man, there's not far-reaching, constant, and systemic abuse of men by women in your industry.

Oh weird. I've only seen two reviews pop up in my feed reader and they were both highly negative and lined up pretty well with each others points. Guess that means it'll be another polarizing season.

I actually think he wrote and posted this because his publicist would actually know how to thread tweets. Here’s the apology in full:

Jason Bateman posted:

Based on listening to the NYT interview and hearing people’s thoughts online, I realize that I was wrong here.

I sound like I’m condoning yelling at work. I do not.

It sounds like I’m excusing Jeffery. I do not.

It sounds like I’m insensitive to Jessica. I am not.

In fact, I’m horrified that I wasn’t more aware of how this incident affected her.

I was so eager to let Jeffrey know that he was supported in his attempt to learn, grow and apologize that I completely underestimated the feelings of the victim, another person I deeply love - and she was sitting right there!

I’m incredibly embarrassed and deeply sorry to have done that to Jessica. This is a big learning moment for me.

I shouldn’t have tried so hard to mansplain, or fix a fight, or make everything okay.

I should’ve focused more on what the most important part of it all is - there’s never any excuse for abuse, in any form, from any gender. And, the victim’s voice needs to be heard and respected.

Period.

I didn’t say that and instead said a bunch of other stuff and not very well.

I deeply, and sincerely, apologize.

It sounds like some of the cast were surprised by how upset she was. I think initially the interview was set up to do damage control for Jeffrey Tambor.

Maybe not woman on man abuse, but woman on woman is certainly a thing, in fact just a week or two ago a prominent actress got indicted for sex trafficking.

Eh, women do bully women. However, if it was in reference to the sexual assault allegations then it would be a completely different matter.

I'm sort of surprised nothing's come out about Warren Beatty (or if it has that it hasn't been really high-profile) given that he was as well-known for being incredibly horny for most his career as he was for acting in/writing/directing/producing movies.
