Yeah, the sneaking suit is perfectly fine. I've never had issues with it. There's no situation where the sneaking suit is terrible, and you never have to switch for different terrain.

Is it not a lady Mantis? I mean it's not like gender swaps are out of the ordinary and small girl floating around with a big bruiser is pretty typical. Hell you can graft a cloned arm onto a crazy old man gunslinger and convince him that he's your BROTHERRRRRRR until it turns out he was faking it the whole time OR WAS HE. Unless that is a big spoiler about Mantis swapping bodies again.

MGSV (and by extension MGS 3 and Peace Walker) chronologically take place many years before the first MGS, it’s just Mantis as a kid. This is the Metal Gear timeline as I understand it: Snake Eater Portable Ops (if you want to count that) Peace Walker Ground Zeroes Survive (if you want to count that, though most of the game technically takes place in the far future) MGSV Metal Gear Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake MGS MGS2 MGS4 Rising Snake’s Revenge and Ghost Babel are alternate sequels to the MSX/NES Metal Gear and the Acid series is in a different universe entirely as far as I know Larryb fucked around with this message at 20:11 on Mar 1, 2021 |

The actual Psycho Mantis wouldn't be down for that. Neither would The Sorrow. Better to assume some form of nanomachine induced simulacrum. The real answer is obviously that it was just fanservice.

Psycho Mantis literally appears after you defeat Screaming (voiced by the same actor from MGS) so I think so but I don’t remember what the official explanation was.

They subjected her to gene therapy and drug induced nanotherapy, building up her psyche for their ultimate plan. Eventually, Mantis's psyche was torn out of her own mind, and was replaced with what remained of Psycho Mantis, the psychological warfare specialist of the FOXHOUND unit that Solid Snake fought in 2005. but then further down it also says she's psychokinetic, used mind control on the other three B&Bs... and uh, has a magic spell named "Zero Shift" from Boktai 2 what the gently caress Kojima lmao (but it's ok, sun gun is canon) apparently the official website said quote:STRENGTHS:

i thought it was something dumb like that psycho mantis's nanomachines has made a copy of his brain before he died and so they used nanomachines to paste his powers and psyche into her like how one of the explanations why liquid's arm took over ocelot's body was because the nanomachines in liquid copied his brain before he died and then when the arm got attached to ocelot those nanomachines traveled to ocelot's brain and downloaded liquid into it then of course iirc there was the "real" explanation that ocelot was just pretending the whole time Shear Modulus fucked around with this message at 19:14 on Mar 2, 2021 |

When I've done that mission without stealth camo, you can sneak up close to the building the scientist is in and pop the stun. Casually walk to the finish. oh man I was just reading back looking for that timg link and I had the sudden realization... does the stun arm AOE count as a weapon usage for No Traces? Blast fist doesn't count if it's not "pointed at an enemy", for example you can No Trace the mission C2W by calling in the helicopter to distract (and kill) everyone, punching the comms equipment, and nope'ing the gently caress out. So you can use melee effects in some situations as long as it's not "pointed at an enemy"... I wonder if you can stun arm AOE eli and get the "don't let him fight back" bonus? Only took me almost 6 years to learn that running lvl 1 FOBs on Security Challenge is pro tier plant farming. I got 3000 each of yellow digitalis and haoma in about 30 minutes of medical platform farming. Warp in, sprint to the core. No guards. Also good for some light materials farming if you do the other platforms, but I have those things maxed out. Also 600k in mercenarybucks each time.

would it have been better if things like radar regenerated over time (maybe give generators the same kind of persistence)? maybe have them stay disabled for an hour or two of IRL time when they're destroyed, or have them regenerate once a week? I like the idea of the radars disallowing Pequod shenanigans (fire support, pickups, hot insertions, etc) but it basically is a factor the first time you play an area and then never again, which is kind of a shame. Most of the rest of the game design allows persistent play, you can come back and do a farming run anytime, but the radars don't ever come back so that's an aspect of the "first time playthrough" that you don't ever get again.

Radar and Radio being set back up over time and having persistent effects when they are up would be pretty interesting and provide another layer of strategic texture to the game, while also matching what happens to enemy outposts you clear out over time.
