Did the NHL finally change their weather cancelation policy, it used to be they would play the game no matter what if both teams were in the city. I think maybe it was because they wanted the Bruins to play the same day as a citywide travel ban for snow?

I really don't buy the "magical underdog" narrative some people push about Las Vegas. There's a salary cap, friendly expansion draft rules, and to be honest, little difference between the top and bottom of the league except for extreme outliers like Arizona and Buffalo. They weren't going to be the Capitals, Sharks, or Senators.

At least there is a defined rule for offside and it comes down to what does the video show, they still have no idea what is or isn't goalie interference

They really just need a statute of limitations on it to say how longer after the potential offsides can a goal be waved off. These ones where a team has 45 seconds of sustained zone time with multiple shots on net only to eventually score and have it wiped off are especially silly.

This is not ridiculous at all. They shouldn't have gotten to enter the zone in the first place.

"if it doesn't affect the play" is a standard you are inventing whole cloth and would be a nightmare to enforce.

Absolutely nothing needed to be changed except a cap on the amount of time a review can take, but leave it to the NHL to gently caress something up.

Goalie interference is a goddamn mess because it's a judgment call, if offside is now a judgment call of "did it affect the play or not" it's equally as big a mess.

Why is that preferable, bullshit that's preferable. A little bit of offside is OK? Any amount of offside is OK if it happened a while ago? Why have the rule at all if you are going to make all these exceptions to it?

All you need is a time limit. You can enforce the rule as it stands and weed out the tiny little millimeter off the ice thing because those wouldn't be settled within the time limit.

Two things here.

2. It's the Army Black Knights, which could be a point in Vegas's favor here.

The owner literally said "we can't be the black knights because there's the black hawks, so we went with golden knights because of the army parachute team". That's, uh, really bad

Can't Vegas just bribe the London Knights? Like kick them $100k a year? That's chump change for a NHL team, but pretty significant for a CHL club.

They don't even need to do that. But their owner is a West Point grad who still has a military boner.

The Kitchener Rangers have the exact same name and jerseys without issue. The AHL used to have two teams called the Admirals. Norfolk is the Admirals again, in the ECHL. There are dozens of colleges called the Eagles, Tigers, Bulldogs, etc.

OK MAF was not "considered expendable". The Penguins would have happily kept him and Murray on the team if there was no expansion. But they couldn't exactly expose a 2-time Cup winner who is 23 years old.

Vegas can win all the regular season games they want, let's see how they fare in the playoffs and beyond. You want expansion success stories, how about the Marlins winning a title their 5th season or the Diamondbacks in their 4th. Even the worst expansion team ever, the Mets, won in their 8th.

TSN is going to have a special interview with Paul Ranger next week in connection with the Bell Let's Talk hashtag campaign so I guess you can conclude that anxiety or depression or something like that is why he left hockey.
